I bought the 960 after my coveted was literally falling apart, my goalie partner went with the 950. I can't stress enough how much of a difference there is between the 2. The 960 is leaps and bounds better than the 950. Shots off the dome with the 960 are like nothing. No ping, dead silent, and super rigid. The 950 on the other hand, was miserable. I tried his for a practice and had to switch back halfway through. Even the smallest shot off the chin left me with ringing ears, and the notorious smell of something burning. I would recommend no matter what, to pay the extra for the 960. It may very well be a literal life saver.
Thanks for adding your personal experience to this video. That is the challenge with masks. We need 3rd party safety data. I personally would only ever wear pro level mask, but Freddy wore NME IX in the show... so there is some level trust that could be had if you're stuck on a $400 budget.

I’m in a concept c2 and its pretty close to the end of its lifespan… Thanks for mentioning fit as the biggest factor, I used to work in hockey retail and people would always just try to spend the most without factoring that in at all. Too many kids who had expensive gear that was not appropriate at all.

I’m curious on your thought of the cat-eye cages? I hear that the visibility is better and it’s better looking, but do you have any safety concerns with it? I saw a goalie a couple years ago in the nhl get a stick to the eye through the cage and I’ve been a little torn about getting one ever since. Is it risky or was that a case of bad luck?
I would have loved to have kept my 960, unfortunately the 960 is not for people with a wider/rounder head/face. If you have a wider/rounder head/face like me, the NME VTX is what you’d wanna go with 👍
Great comparison! I want to win this mask!!! I play ice and roller and I've typically got more dingers and dented cages with roller pucks, is their any data on puck difference? I assume hard plastic puck would tend to cause more damage than a rubber puck 🤷🏼♂️
