Hey Thew, just your friendly neighborhood Toyhax representative stoppin’ by! Here’s what’s up with the weapons: Wingspan’s horizontal tabs peg into the robot mode hip slots when in bird mode, just rotate those cubes upward. Pounce’s weapon slots at the back of the guns are to peg onto the puma mode’s shoulders. And as a couple people have pointed out before, the holes on the tail bits are for flight stands to plug into. Hope this helps!

Masterpiece Armada Megatron will be the best. Like, I appreciated the Armada recolor and alternate head for Combiner Wars Megatron, it's amazing, but a Masterpiece of GIANT ALIEN SUPER TANK will be something else.
Though...the problem with doing Masterpieces of the Unicron Trilogy is that Masterpiece is all about "get the toy to look like the cartoon" and the Unicron Trilogy is all "let's just use the toys as the exact character design". So is it really necessary?
Personally, I'd love to see this gimmick in reverse; two identical alt modes with wildly different robot modes. Like, two identical T-rexes, but one of them does a Dinobot and the other does a BW Megatron

I'm rewatching this review because of the Target exclusive re-release that just got revealed. I was on the fence on them but after Watching Thew have so much fun in this video I'll probably get them if I can find them in person. I've always loved there colors which is why I got the Botcon Vehicon repaints from 2014.
The clones are so dumb, clunky, and conceptually 80s that I love them completely. They are a great update to a lousy original, and great for collectors, or kids with an affinity for retro concepts. Y'know, like if a kid in the 90s was into Dick Tracy or something.
There was a Dick Tracy movie made in the 90's, and I was all over it as a kid.

I wish each side got 3 or 4 to push an implied mass produced body they quickly modded to have different modes as needed

I went a little bit crazy with the clones. I managed to get the two boxsets before they sold out and picked up the two pack but just in case I also got the Takara releases as well. Then for some reason I picked up a second set of Takara releases. So I have three of each figure. The Hasbro releases are the original pairs while the two sets of Takara releases are their slightly off color clone army. So I guess I took clones a different way. Instead of them being clones of each other with different alt modes, they're twins with different alt modes each with their own clones.
It just all goes along with some of the rest of my collection. Anytime I have a good voyager or ultra sized character who also has a good deluxe counterpart, I get multiples of the deluxe to act as drones of the larger figure. CW/UW Cyclonus with a bunch of Universe, Generations and Henkei Cyclonus'. TR/LG Galvatron with U/H/Hasbro Asia/Platinum Galvatrons. ROTF voyager Bludgeon with ROTF deluxe Bludgeon. T30 Brainstorm with an army of TR/LG/SDCC Brainstorms. Universe Hardhead with TR Hardhead. T30 FOC Grimlock with Classics Grimlock. T30 Springer with both GDO and SDCC Springer drones. TR Astrotrain with Classics Astrotrain and so on. I even have two Classics voyager Jetfire to go with T30 leader Jetfire. The idea obviously started with Cyclonus, Scourge and Galvatron having drones made of each other by Unicron then spread from there. The other Decepticons are also agents of Unicron while the Autobots are knights of Primus to combat them.
Funny enough, Sixshot already has a kid: Quickswitch

I'm going to be completely honest, the only reason I care about these two in any capacity is because of Sixshot killing them in Headmasters, more specifically in the English dub where he just politely apologizes to their corpses for murdering them.
Just picked up the Earthrise 2 pack of Pounce and Wingspan. Now I can resell the lone Wingspan from the Walgreens 2 pack.

OMG, the moment from 01:00 to 01:07 made me chuckle bit till seeing moment from 01:25 to 01:39 which made me to chuckle again. XD I wonder were you feeling dirty after you did that ultimate collector expression. Though personality I would prefer Hasbro's release of TR Autobot and Decepticon Clones; all I would need is both TR exclusive sets plus TR Clones 2-figure Pack not only to get both clone teams but also ready TR collection.

These are great. Pounce's animal kibble does fold up a bit better in the back though.
It would be interesting if these guys were used in a series as a single episode villain where the Autobots struggle to beat them because they can't tell who's who and their alt modes are used to beat the autobots.
I was actually planning on getting this set too :) I love the modern legends class toys, they're Takara, and they're Decepticons (because there's always room for more of them) so yeah I think I need them too lol another great review Thew :D

The hole on the end of Pounce's tail and the one on top of Wingspan's are for 3mm flight stand pegs, BTW.
I’m glad I got this set! Love these guys! Never had the G1s. I mean yeah, they’re not “exact” beast modes, but they definitely pull it off better than the G1 versions & with poseability.

That ending spiel regarding whether people really needed new Clones is probably *why* Hasbro put Fastlane and Pounce in the box sets. On their own they're not up to much, but packed in with Laser Prime/Quickswitch/Nautica and Ginrai/Tidal Wave/Metalhawk respectively, they're a lot more appetising. Certainly, if I'd had the funds at the time, I would've got them for those larger figures.
Cloudraker and Wingspan being packed together was mostly due to other box sets being cancelled, but selling them together meant they were more likely to be grabbed by people that did have the box sets for completionist purposes.

Oh man, I forgot about these. I wanted these. And this video, this is some next level stuff. “They’re presenting a fantasy, and I am living it.” But I think that tail hole is just the stand h- THERE’S A SILVERBOLT MODE?!!?!
When the boxed sets with the other brother were coming out, I just couldn't convince myself to pay that much for a scout-sized figure. Instead I got a lucky deal on an ebay auction for both twins & punch/counterpunch. And I gotta say, I like the G1 versions more. Sure they don't have the nice posing options of the new versions, but they're bigger, the plastic feels sturdier, the alt modes seem more cohesive, and there's less hollow body gaps. I did later get the Walgreens 2pack so I've handled the new versions of 50% of the twins for comparison.
I also find it amusing that I've passed on the Takara releases because of the color pink. The deceptitwins didn't have enough pink and I felt the autotwins had too much pink to their bodies.
I got mine at Nor-Con last month. Love em :) Gotta Toyhax them up though

Compared to the original G1 versions the beast modes are quite a it better, plus the extra articulation, plus cheaper. I do wonder what those extra knobs and sockets are through.

So, if you check inside the box for legends Pounce and Wingspan, there's a little sheet indicating a misprint on the instructions - they swapped around the photos of Pounce and Wingspan in robot mode! No word of a lie, you can see their back kibble in the photos.

Base bucks they could make into different alts? Sure. The concept was a cool idea. The story they gave is as exciting as Thew made it sound, but I can always explain these small batch per gimmick sub-lines as wartime tinkering.

I was going to leave a comment about how I loved these guys as a kid, and hated that Hasbro split them up to sell them. Aaaaaand then the song hit and made me stare at the crap on my shelf for more time than I should have.
I definitely had the itchy horn for these essentially pointless additions to my plastic crack den. I don't know why i like them so much either, but as soon as they were announced I bloody needed them. I like the fact they are legend scale and can give the Autobot legends a shoeing.
