@@tomshomefinds Thank you very much for your valuable and detailed review. I will take it into consideration.
im about 6'10 400lbs do you think this chair would be worth buying? i havent had any chairs last more than a few months and im looking for something i can use for a while.
I *think* it would work well. I have a cousin who is REALLY rough on office chairs. He and I bought the same office chair at one point. Mine lasted 5 years, his last 5 months.. This still seems like one of the sturdier chairs I've used.
I'm 6ft 3, I weigh almost 18 stone, which is around 250lbs. I need a new chair, but I can't find any that have reinforcement around the hole that the piston fits into. I keep snapping welds on my chairs. I'm not even that big; I weigh a lot, but I'm small around the waist., broad across the shoulders and chest. I don't want to waste any more money on a chair that breaks within 2 years.
Yeah, that's totally reasonable. I have a cousin who is a good 30 pounds lighter than me and STILL manages to break his office chair every year or so. I think he likes to squirm and lean a lot, which can bend or push the welds/joints in ways the manufacturers didn't think about. I weigh about the same as you (and have for years) and I've never broken an office chair, so I think I just don't wiggle as much. Whether you go with this chair or another one you should probably look for chairs that advertise weight capacities of 350 or more just to account for the "wiggle" and bounce factor of how everyone uses chairs. I DO still use this one in my office basement setup and it's still holding up.
Here's a direct link: amzn.to/46racIP The seat is about 21.5 inches wide between the pads, a little more to the edges... and the back is about 28.5 inches high.
Hi Tom, I see that you posted this review about 10 months ago. Is the seat padding still holding up? That was the problem I had with my last chair. It felt like sitting on plywood after a while. I sit in my chair 8-10 hours a day.
Yeah, I need to post a follow up video. So far the seat has held up well (I don't use it every single day)... My cat has put a couple tiny holes in the top with his claws (he likes to jump up the backs of chairs) but that would happen with any chair that isn't fabric. Overall, I'm still very pleased. I used it in my office basement.
Great review. There really isn't much focus on reviews for big and tall users. Much appreciated for talking the time. Quick Q: Between this and the mesh Colamy you reviewed more recently, which do you like more? Also, any issues w the foam of either bottoming out with either? Thanks again!
Both chairs are made by Colamy and so far I've found all their chairs to be affordable AND comfortable for bigger people. Here's their store on Amazon: amzn.to/40fnUeJ Their stock rotates a bit, so the exact chair is not always available anymore. They tend to sell out quickly. I haven't had an issues with the foam so far, though now I sort of rotate between chairs and I'm not working from home quite as much as I used to. I think I'd have to say THIS chair was more comfortable just for sitting, though on warm days there isn't a lot of airflow. The mesh-backed chair was more adjustable, but the back has a steep angle backwards.. I end up using placing a small pillow at the top of that one when I want to lean back.
@@tomshomefinds thanks so much! I need to replace mine, and finding really any reviews on chairs (particularly ergo) w a weight limit over 330 has been incredibly hard. Those that I do find seem to be all done by guys who weigh less than 200lbs.
How far back can it tilt? what is the seat height (min/max)? when it does tilt, does it lift your legs at the knees? is there a tilt lock? Being 6'5 and just shy of 300 that likes throne like chairs (currently using the Serta at Home exec office in the ugly brown leather for reference). I find many office chairs dont take into account that footrests exists and when you tilt back in it should sit lower or else when you tilt the leading edge of the seat lifts your legs off the floor and jam them up into the underside of your desk or keyboard tray.. Most lower weight class synchro tilts in steelcase chairs for example accomplish this or if the tilt pivot is located more forward (which usually means a thicker base and a wider wheel to wheel diameter) Now also too, what kind of leather is it? PVC/Bonded leather all falls apart withing weeks (especially in the arm rests), so the better question is, what longevity is there in this chair? It seems that the Steelcase 400lb chairs might still be the go to for the semi-big and tall if you want something that lasts for more than 2-3 years.
When I tilt back in the video that's as far as it goes. Not really sure of the exact angle, but it does NOT feel as though you're going to fall over (at least I didn't). There is no tilt lock. You can only lock it so that it is upright (no tilt) or tilt is enabled. It is typical pvc/bonded leather, though I've had relatively good luck with arm longevity on my office chairs. I will say that my office doesn't get any direct sunlight, though. I haven't tried the Steelcase chairs yet and they may last longer but they are also in an entirely different pricepoint. You can compare both chair lines on Amazon: Steelcase (Pricy but maybe more durable): amzn.to/41fyRgI Colamy (Affordable & Comfy): amzn.to/48dTLzh Good luck! Tell us what you decided on!
@@tomshomefinds circling back, its been several months. How is the leather around the leading edge of the seat holding up (where the back of your knee's are) ?
@@JSLEnterprises so far i don't see much of a change. I don't use it every day, but it's not showing a lot of wear. I DO sometimes use a blanket over it (its in my basement office which can get a little chilly)... i'll have to post a video update at some point.
Hmm.. I have not had that experience, though I honestly have no paid much attention to the headrest. I guess I adjusted it at some point and just kind of let it be. I don't *think* it moves when I push myself up and down (I do tend to move around a lot when sitting)...
I think that's really dependent upon your tolerance for sitting, but I have no problem getting through a full 8 hour workday. I DO get up and walk around during that time. But when I work from home I do still use this chair more than any other and it's still comfy.
It's sold on Amazon. The link is in the description of the video, but here it is again: amzn.to/3Gmmohu I'm not exactly sure about the model number, but I do know that Colamy (Amazon Storefront: amzn.to/47szCp5) is known for high quality comfortable chairs. I've tried a few of them and they've all held up well.
do you still like it use it daily I thinking of buying it for desk top gameing pc. I wonder if I can reach the mouse or if there will be strain on my rist or forarm. or if I can even reach the mouse?
I do like it and I do still use it in my basement office. The fact that the arms don't move is a small issue for me, but the overall comfort of the chair outweighs that concern. I also have started using it with an adjustable height desk, so I don't have to worry about getting it stuck under a desk or not fitting. The arms are big enough that they won't fit under most standard desks (I think)...
Heh, I have an adjustable standing desk so I can sometimes move the desk so low that the arms don't fit underneath. Even with some my static desks the arms on my chair sometimes fit under the desk and sometimes don't. That's really more of a personal preference thing, I suppose...
Very well. No obvious signs of wear. My work schedule changes regularly but I probably use it 3 to 4 days per week, anywhere between 4 to 6 hours per day. Other than the arms not being adjustable it's probably my most comfortable chair.. I sometimes use a plastic bin as a footrest and just sort of lounge and read in it as well...
I like this one a little more, but depending on availability you may want to check out the Colamy store on Amazon for the latest updates: amzn.to/3MoPKQ4. This chair doesn't "breathe" as much as the mesh chair, but the mesh chair's back goes "too far" back for me after I'm using it for a while. I use a little pillow with that one.
I really want something like this. I’m just concerned I’m not going to like the height for the arms since they don’t adjust. Don’t get me wrong I want to sit comfortably but I’m typing for 10 hours a day just for work never mind if I decided to spend a few more gaming that night. I’ve had some numb hand because of arms circulation getting cut off
Yeeeah, I find it comfy but after a while I do need to get up and move around because of that. It is more of a lounge chair than an office chair at times. I actually have it in my basement now as sort of a gaming chair...
I haven't had that happen with most newer vinyl chairs. I suspect the materials have gotten better over the years. It seems to be less common to find full leather or tightly woven fabric covered office chairs anymore. They often have no padding and only use tight mesh or they use a leather alternative.
been sitting in it an hour.. .legs hurt, back hurts, its hot.. wtf was i thinking... good sell but its going back.. it does not lean back far enough. no recline.. i guess i need that. its a 90 degree chair I sink to far into the seat.. man what a dissapointment
Oy, sorry to hear. That's the thing about "personal" fitting things like chairs, clothing, even headphones... What might be comfortable for me could be awful for someone else.. and vice versa. I still find the chair pretty comfortable but I also am not someone who likes to recline in office chairs when I'm using them to work. I do fiddle with the back pump from time to time to make myself sit up a little more or slouch a little more.
Hey! Anyone know a similar chair in eu/Nordics area (Sweden)? This chair has potential but it seems out of stock on amazon at least and I'm not sure I can even get it overseas or if I want to make such a big shipping investment....sad fat swede here
Upgrade the wheels to the Stealtho Office Chair Caster Wheels or whatever brand of roller blade style wheels you prefer, to hell with the cheap plastic wheels that comes with chairs.
*sigh*... looks like they switched the URL. The one I reviewed is currently sold out. Thanks for the heads up! I added the Colamy chair store link. I've had a chance to use several of their chairs and they're all pretty comfortable and designed for bigger people.
The problem I have with this and all "bonded leather" chairs, is that they are all crap. Two-three years max and that's stuff's pealing and flaking off your arm rests. You get what you pay for and if you want genuine leather, you gotta spend north of $1500. Which is what I'm doing. For me it makes sense because I'm in front of my screens trading 8-10 hrs a day.
Cool. I almost tend to go the other way. I once had a $1,000 real leather lounge chair. Love it... But I still ended up damaging it (a shelf above it fell off the wall and I had a cat with claws that liked to poke it). In the end I decided that I was better off replacing a less expensive (not real leather) chair every four years than replacing a real leather chair in about the same time period.
The problem with padded chairs is that padding wears down in no time at all and starts to flatten and harden and then boom, you got an uncomfortable chair.
Yes, that does happen with some chairs. This cushion is sooo damn thick that I haven't had that happen yet or even seen any evidence of it starting to happen...
I believe the Amazon listing has all the measurements for the seat depth. I'm only about 6 or so. It's really difficult to say if any chair will be perfect for any person because even if you and I are the same height and weight my legs might be longer or I might be comfortable with a different feel than you. I would agree that chairs are a personal choice.
I bought this chair and ended up returning it. It is absolutely not built for tall people. The ergonomics are probably designed for someone under 6 ft tall. The search for a chair continues for me
Sorry to hear you didn't like it. I think different people are "tall" in different ways, so people with longer legs may like this chair more than people with longer torsos, but I find that all chairs are, to some extent, a matter of personal comfort.
Eh, it's got 4.3 stars on Amazon right now... The biggest consistent complaint that I see is that if you're very tall (6'5 or more) the headrest doesn't seem to go up high enough for some people. It seems like most of the critical reviews are from 3 or 4 years ago and mostly due to support issues or missing parts. Nothing is perfect. It's a manufactured object so there always is the chance of something going wrong, but the recent reviews are mostly pretty positive.
This guy is a little above average height and weight. He can use almost any designer chair or big-box store chair. Come on, bro. This is not useful for big and tall people.
Every single person has their own personal preferences regardless of body size. I've purchased plenty of things online that others raved about only to find that it's not to my liking. Is their opinion wrong just because I didn't like some object that they did? Nope. It's just a difference of opinion. I do not weigh 499 pounds but I still find this chair to be very comfortable. Just because the chair holds up to 500lbs does not mean that you have to BE 500lbs to use it. Other family members and visitors have also found this chair to be one of the more comfortable ones. I sometimes give away office chairs after reviewing them, but this is one of the ones I've chosen to keep... because it's so comfortable. Good luck finding someone else with YOUR exact body size and personal preferences who can make perfect recommendations for you and you alone.
@@tomshomefinds You're missing my point entirely. It's not about "personal preference." Bigger people CAN NOT sit in chairs whose arms are not wide enough or whose seats are too narrow. Understand?
@@tomshomefinds "Good luck finding someone else with YOUR exact body size and personal preferences who can make perfect recommendations for you and you alone." Like I said, you understood not a single word of my comment and this response illustrates that.
@@GQ007-il6ek I understand what you're saying, but you're making the assumption that this chair would ONLY appeal to people who are "bigger" and "heavier" and I don't think that's the case. This chair COULD work for them (if the measurements work out) but it may not. The Amazon link has the width of the seat listed (24.8 inches). You can be short and heavier or tall and heavier. Some people like a snug fitting chair, some want lots of space. Personal preference, again. People of any weight can have a huge variety of body types. I find the chair comfortable and other people who have tried it (of any body type) have liked it.
@@tomshomefinds You still don't get it. I never said that other people would not want/like this chair. That's YOUR attempt to justify your own opinion. It's not about what "some people like." heavy people want reviews BY heavy people because they can more accurately define whether such a chair meets the comfort parameters of fellow heavy people. But instead of conceding my point and acknowledging that I even HAVE a point, you continue to defend and deflect. LEARN something here instead of forming ANOTHER argument that even FURTHER illustrates you narcissistic inablility to admit you're just WRONG.

Whether you go with this chair or another one you should probably look for chairs that advertise weight capacities of 350 or more just to account for the "wiggle" and bounce factor of how everyone uses chairs. I DO still use this one in my office basement setup and it's still holding up.
Nice review, thanks. How many inches from the seat cushion top to the headrest top at it's maximum setting?
About 28.5 inches. The back/headrest is not height adjustable.
I sat at my desk and my chair snapped off the wheels. I'll be buying this
What about the height! I heard it does not raise high enough!! Is there a link?
Here's a direct link: amzn.to/46racIP The seat is about 21.5 inches wide between the pads, a little more to the edges... and the back is about 28.5 inches high.
@@tomshomefinds Thank you so much!!
Thanks Tom ,I just ordered two of these chairs
How far back can it tilt? what is the seat height (min/max)? when it does tilt, does it lift your legs at the knees? is there a tilt lock?
Being 6'5 and just shy of 300 that likes throne like chairs (currently using the Serta at Home exec office in the ugly brown leather for reference).
I find many office chairs dont take into account that footrests exists and when you tilt back in it should sit lower or else when you tilt the leading edge of the seat lifts your legs off the floor and jam them up into the underside of your desk or keyboard tray.. Most lower weight class synchro tilts in steelcase chairs for example accomplish this or if the tilt pivot is located more forward (which usually means a thicker base and a wider wheel to wheel diameter)
Now also too, what kind of leather is it?
You can compare both chair lines on Amazon:
Steelcase (Pricy but maybe more durable): amzn.to/41fyRgI
Colamy (Affordable & Comfy):
amzn.to/48dTLzh
Good luck!
My headrest moves without me wanting it too. Like it moves when my shoulders are against it and I sit up. Does you chair do the same thing?
Hmm.. I have not had that experience, though I honestly have no paid much attention to the headrest. I guess I adjusted it at some point and just kind of let it be. I don't *think* it moves when I push myself up and down (I do tend to move around a lot when sitting)...
@@tomshomefinds I'll have to contact the seller, thanks for the reply!
@@tomshomefindsThe company is gonna send me new springs so the headrest stays in place. Great customer service!
How many hours of sitting time is it good for?
I think that's really dependent upon your tolerance for sitting, but I have no problem getting through a full 8 hour workday. I DO get up and walk around during that time. But when I work from home I do still use this chair more than any other and it's still comfy.
Hello. Thanks for video. What is the exact model of this chair? Where is it sold? Thanks
It's sold on Amazon. The link is in the description of the video, but here it is again: amzn.to/3Gmmohu
I'm not exactly sure about the model number, but I do know that Colamy (Amazon Storefront: amzn.to/47szCp5) is known for high quality comfortable chairs.
The arms are big enough that they won't fit under most standard desks (I think)...
but no recline feature
Correct. It does not recline. Think of it as a comfy reading chair on wheels?
a year later did this chair hold up, such as did the cylinder height adjustment break at all?
Yeah, it's still in pretty good condition. I don't use it every day (and I've lost a little weight) but it's held up well.
@@tomshomefinds nice. Really struggling to find a big boy chair that lasts
You can't even reach the desk, if you're sitting back!...lol
Heh, I have an adjustable standing desk so I can sometimes move the desk so low that the arms don't fit underneath. Even with some my static desks the arms on my chair sometimes fit under the desk and sometimes don't. That's really more of a personal preference thing, I suppose...
Can you lock different angles of recline? Meaning can it be locked to recline only half (or whatever angle) of the amount it can recline. Thanks...
Hmm.. I don't think you can.
@@tomshomefinds Thanks! It looks like their gaming chairs do.
Very informative but why does no one ever measure out the seat width ....
The seat width is a little over 24 inches wide.
@@tomshomefindsThanks !
The only thing that’s keeping me from buying this chair is that it doesn’t seem to have any neck support 😢
3 months later how is the chair doing?
Between this chair and the Colamy mesh backed 500ibs chair, what one do you like more?
Looks like a great chair. Only thing is the material usually peels and ruins everything 🙄
This chair has potential but it seems out of stock on amazon at least and I'm not sure I can even get it overseas or if I want to make such a big shipping investment....sad fat swede here
Just bought this! Thanks!
The company reached out to me and sent me a new Amazon URL for this chair: amzn.to/40IxB5x
Upgrade the wheels to the Stealtho Office Chair Caster Wheels or whatever brand of roller blade style wheels you prefer, to hell with the cheap plastic wheels that comes with chairs.
the one you linked isnt the same one your are reviewing
*sigh*... looks like they switched the URL.
This cushion is sooo damn thick that I haven't had that happen yet or even seen any evidence of it starting to happen...
bro that chair is so goated.
I had to look that up. Yes. Yes it is. 😆
Added this to my cart earlier today and they raised the price another $100. Ouch
Ugh... I'd give it a little bit of time. The prices tend to bounce around a bit, especially around holidays.
It looks comfortable but I’m 6’5” and the under the thigh doesn’t look long enough. I almost impulse bought. 🤦🏾♂️
I wish someone would giftme one for my office
I bought this chair and ended up returning it. It is absolutely not built for tall people. The ergonomics are probably designed for someone under 6 ft tall. The search for a chair continues for me
Sorry to hear you didn't like it. I think different people are "tall" in different ways, so people with longer legs may like this chair more than people with longer torsos, but I find that all chairs are, to some extent, a matter of personal comfort.

Are you teen wolfs dad?
Read the reviews..fails on people like all cheap chairs.
It's a manufactured object so there always is the chance of something going wrong, but the recent reviews are mostly pretty positive.
faux leather it'll last 3-6 months
free chair = zero confidence
This guy is a little above average height and weight. He can use almost any designer chair or big-box store chair. Come on, bro. This is not useful for big and tall people.
A little bit lol the fuck metric you going off of
Average weight for males in North America is about 180 lbs and average height is 5’7”. He’s is most definitely a big guy
Holy crap how huge are you dude??
@neonnoir9692 he's 450
Yeah you’re way off there Tyreek Rolldownahill
I'd ask about whether, or not, the arms are confining, but you are REALLY not big enough to review OR recommend this chair.
