    Something I thought about while editing is more proof Kaito is intelligent. He followed the script Kokichi wrote during the whole trial, that takes skill to follow the different routes then say the correct response. Even if I don’t like Kaito, I can admire his character in some aspects.

    I wish Celeste kinda had a breakdown like kirumi. Kirumi had a breakdown AFTER she was voted. Kirumi kept her calm during the trial till the end. Celeste could have been the same and lost it after she was found out to be the blackend.

      I can kinda see where they're going, she was the embodiment of a lie before Kokichi. She made the trial as hard for herself as possible, and the reality hit her. Symbolized by the execution

    I think that there's a bigger problem with Chiaki that this video didn't address.
    'Scuse me, I need to get a little closer to the the mic here...
    *ahem*
    _WHO THE F**K IS SHE?!_
    Seriously, we do not know _anything_ about her human version.
    Like, why's she a gamer?
    How did she become so good at gaming?
    Where's her family?
    Does she even _have_ a family?
    A father?
    A mother?
    A sibling?
    A relative?
    A Goddamn _pet--_ I don't know, ANYONE?!
    I swear, if she (along with some of the characters from DR3) doesn't get the Kyoko/Byakuya treatment, I'm gonna be extremely pissed...and then sad...and then pissed again.

      Man they really need to make some novels for these characters. Besides Chiaki who needs one(especially since you reminded me that we get no personal life info on her) characters like Rantaro or Tsumugi(only if they’re not doing a prequel killing game or a sequel that has some info about them in it) and Peko/Fuyuhiko should get one too.

    I would much prefer that kind of chapter 3 for v3!

    • @Gallo4
      @Gallo4 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Disagree, from her interactions it seems that Tenko is basically the biggets pacifist of the series, she never wanted anything seriously bad on her enemies and this idea just goes totally against that. And her innocence in that regard fits really well into her childish personality. Tho I might be biased since I love Tenko :)

    • @coralreef5990
      @coralreef5990 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@Gallo4 I do too as well love Tenko
      I mainly agree because I feel as if her death served more purpose for Himiko rather than letting it be impactful on it's own. Overall Tenko was a really sweet character who only wanted the best for everyone, while she was biased towards females, she's showed that she does show care about her male classmates as well.
      I just wish Tenko's death stood more purpose than Himiko's character alone

    Something interesting to point out (not from danganronpa 0) is that Junko probably saw the chance of Mukurow blabbing to someone like Makoto. It would be what drives Junko to kill her sister as she doesn't want to let the secrets out and ruin the plan. On the other hand...what if Mukurow ends up losing the wig and opening up as her true self after the second trial? Making a shock train from Chihiro, to Genocide Jack, then Byakuya, going through each and ending with the Mukurow reveal, it could cause a lot more discourse than would Junko initially planned

    I disagree with your point on Gonta. I think the Chapter 4 trial did an amazing job at making you feel horrible for him, and him losing his memories was the perfect scapegoat for the trial to work the way it did-to set up Kokichi as an antagonist for Chapter 5, to give Kaito a chance to actually participate in a debate and put his ideals to the test against Kokichi’s, and for Shuichi to cause a rift between his friendship with Kaito by having him side with Kokichi thanks to his manipulation.
    Kaito wasn’t dumb in this trial because he actually gave decent points and counter arguments in Chapter 4. He did his best and the emotional turmoil came from it not being enough because he was outwitted by both Kokichi and his own best friend. His ideals with belief fell apart.
    Calling the way they handled that a “mistake” feels like the wrong word to describe it. Like you said, it’s your opinion, and that’s fine, but if Gonta kept his memory, the trial would have gone a lot faster even with his silence, because that alone would prove his guilt and make it easier to incriminate him-and not allow all that emotional set-up to happen for Kokichi, Kaito, and Shuichi and buildup for Chapter 5 with him as the “mastermind.”
    I also think your point of view of Gonta not taking accountability for his actions is just straight-up inaccurate, because literally the *entire* aftermath of the trial is all *about* that! Remember Alter Ego Gonta? *He* took full responsibility and accountability for his actions, *he* admitted he wasn’t forced by Kokichi to do anything-he was manipulated by him, sure, but it was his and Kokichi’s agreed idea to bring about a mercy kill because Gonta genuinely felt the outside world was too horrible of a sight to see. And real world Gonta agreed, and accepted his death once he learned the truth of why he did what he did. How is that undermining his intelligence? He took his death with a strength and love, to the very end, self-aware and cognizant of what he did.
    It was an amazing emotional rollercoaster for all sides among multiple different characters. If you still feel differently, that’s fine, but that’s just how I feel. Thanks for being one of the few DR fans that are actually chill about people having different opinions!

    • @LaiLaiVibes

    For the Mikan case my main problem is that they didn’t go into too much depth behind Mikan’s motives which made it very bland and non interesting and they could’ve connected it to many other important plot points and made it something really interesting and something lingers throughout the game but they didn’t. It happened and then it vanished

  • @gontagokuhara5262

    I think the fourth trial would have been better if the glitch actually caused Gonta to go into Kokichi’s avatar while Kokichi went inside Gonta’s. We’ve already seen the whole failed murder plot with Sayaka. So instead Miu kills Gonta accidentally when Kokichi tells him to go to the rooftop.

    I saw a really cool theory on Celeste.
    She killed Hifumi and Taka due to them being the two most unstable at the time and sacrificed herself. She did this because she genuinely was friends with the rest of the students, and she knew herself that she wouldn’t make it out alive. The only reason she claimed her motive was money to not have the rest of the students as upset.
    This would explain why she snaps and is a terrible liar in this trial. Then also at the end when she wishes to see her friends in another life. She wanted to help her friends by getting rid of the troublesome two, even if that meant getting herself killed.
    Although it’s a stretch, I really hope this theory is correct.

    I know this is a biased take on my part, but I think that Kaede should've survived longer before being faked-executed and become the mastermind. She can develop to become a confident leader with Shuichi and then have her wrongly executed for murder. Her being the mastermind at the end could be cool too since the survivors in chapter 6 thought the mastermind is Kaede's sister. Kaede could be brainwashed to act as her own sister and work alongside Tsumugi. Shuichi will save Kaede from the brainwash at the end of the 6th trial (and maybe have her die to add emotion) and Voilà, the end of V3.
    (I love Kaede, but I understand criticisms of her character and I even agree with the criticism that she should've lived longer)

    • @Dressup_Doll
      @Dressup_Doll 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      As cool as that idea sounds, it wouldn’t make sense. Even if she was brainwashed, why go through the trouble of making her a ‘protagonist’ only to do that?
      I like the idea of having a protagonist kill someone, but to add more begins to become over the top. I get how over the top V3 is, but still.
      Kaede already believes she’s killed someone, and then gets executed. We, the player, are then shocked by that. We don’t need more pointless plot twists after all the ones we do get

    • @dassinzx8975
      @dassinzx8975 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@Dressup_Doll I understand completly. I just thought that Kaede could've done more in the story than just die for shock. It would've been more impactful to have Kaede be the brainwashed mastermind and have her personally tell Shuichi and the survivors that she doesn't have faith in humanity and want to just kill besides being told in pregame video. I also thought this would have Shuichi struggle to break Kaede's brainwash and Kaede will struggle to to have faith and being a leader. But overall, I get were you're coming from of how this is unnessecary. (I'm... Just gonna crawl in my hut of shame)

    The thing is, Izuru actually IS the mastermind technically. He should've been emphasized much more and there wasn't really much of a reason why we needed an AI Junko though. After playing Ultra Despair Girls, I'm a little more okay with AI Junko happening with how they explained it by her conscious being in two Monokuma robots, but still. I really hope in the likely inevitable fourth main game, that Junko doesn't show up at all and the mastermind's motive is literally anything but "despair" lmao

    Omg, the idea with Sonia and Gundham would be so good. I feel like that would really fit their personalities and would give more characterisation to Sonia. Even if she died.
    As well as Mukuro being alive longer. I would see her eventually coming to Makoto's side, but getting killed before She was able to tell him about everything.

  • @peachyal9277
    @peachyal9277 3 ปีที่แล้ว +16

    Wow loved the video! I honestly agree with every point you made. For Celestia’s point, in the live action remake of Danganronpa they actually altered trial four, three and two (probably to save time), and that included altering Celestia’s personality completely to fit her Ultimate.
    Ah spoilers ig?
    So basically Taka and Mondo died trial 2, and Sakura died from poison trial 3 - with Celestia hitting her hard on the head (I think, it’s been a long time since I watched it) at the same time as Sakura drank the poison. Celestia then says “A true gamble! Did Sakura die by her own hand - or mine?” Because no one actually knows, besides Monokuma. Celestia and Hifumi vote that Celestia is the killer, while everyone else votes that Sakura is the killer - and Sakura ended up being the killer. Obviously it was just done to cut out a trial to save time, but I still think Celestia’s personality/poker face/demonstration of her Ultimate is a lot better here
    Ah I’ve been rambling, sorry! Hope you find this interesting (and again, loved the video - felt so professional! ✨🌟✨)

    5:15 agreed with a different disease for mikan, assertivness and using that as a reason for choosing Hiyoko would have been a lot better.
    disagreeing on “that’s a relationship we should have not seen because it’s abusive”. an antagonist is allowed to be abusive, they’re the antagonist. we don’t need to have education in every bit of entertainment, since it’s first and foremost that, entertainment. and it’s been pretty blatant about the fact it’s abusive, and at the same time, seeing abuse in such blatant fashion depicted done by the *bad guy* is a message in itself ^^
    adding to this, it still teached us a lesson. abusers and manipulators can be assertive, charismatic and rope you in, and not every victim of abuse has a nice, neat, clean cut happy ending.

    Most of my problems with writing comes from V3 I think that in a lot of places they had missed opportunities and could’ve made better writing in a lot of the scenarios. A pretty funny mistake, (or I’m guessing it’s a mistake), is during the start of the Danganronpa 3 anime in the English dub where Yukizome is going to get all the students to her class. Before encountering Komaeda, he says „man I’m the unluckiest guy ever... I put in 1,000 yen and pushed the button but no drink..” 1,000 yen is approximately 9.11 USD. Pretty expensive for a drink I must say.

    1. I completely agree, Gonta Had a huge hand since he did Kill, yes Kokichi laid out the framework and did some manipulation, but Gonta made the conscious decision to do it. And it doesn't even make sense for him to do this at all,
    They didn't do Gonta's, Miu's character justice and made both of them look like fools
    2. Did you forget that Izuru
    Technicaly was the mastermind that inserted the junko AI. But I'd get it if you forgot he didn't even had a big enough stage presence
    4. Obviously the murder weapon was a scalpel because me kind of is a nurse in it is a medical tool and seeing Hiyoko's injury that led to her death it makes sense. So that pointless mystery is solved

    Time to do the thing where i write an entire essay in a yt comment ranting about a fictional character :’D
    (i haven’t seen the anime so i’m going to focus on dr2-)
    Chiaki is one of the most popular dr 2 characters, even one of the most popular main series characters. While i do find chiaki cute, i don’t like.... mostly everything else about her. However, i do understand why people like her. Shes’s cute, and wholesome and it’s easy for the player to like her because they relate. If you’re playing dr, you probably like video games, so when you see a whole gamer girl that helps a lot in trials and sacrifices herself to save you, it’s easy to like her.
    But that’s the only thing chiaki has going for her. Her character is literally the ideal gamer girl, and that’s all. She has no backstory, no interesting personality, no arc, and no interesting dynamics with other characters. And if anyone is going to say she has a friendship with hajime, i disagree. If i can recall, they had no scene where they bonded as friends besides free time events. Maybe when chiaki stopped hajime from going to the final dead room in chapter 4, but literally anyone could have done that, and arguably better. I’d be more interesting to see, say, fuyuhiko or gundam tell hajime to not go because i’d actually make sense for them to do it, gundam says to never give up on life, and fuyuhiko could get even more development.
    Chiaki gets nothing. It also bothers me that the entire cast at the chapter 5 trial acted super sad when she died. I understand why, because they spent a lot of time with her, but it’s clearly shown that her death is extra sad because of the sad music and hajime’s reaction. This makes no sense to me, why does hajime specifically care about chiaki more than say, ibuki or nekomaru, who acted just as kind as chiaki and maybe even kinder. This makes her emotional beats feel forced and fake to me. The one thing i do like, is her parallel with nagito, how he tried to kill everyone to find the traitor, and chiaki trying to save everyone.
    Chiaki also has no interesting personality other than being kind, introvert, and liking video games. This personality doesn’t lead to any interesting interactions, events, or arcs. For example, nagito’s personality serves the story, and his interactions. Akane’s personality leaders to an event where she fights monokuma and injures nekomaru. Hiyolko and Fuyuhiko both act aggressively, which allow them to get character development (or at least have the potential rip hiyolko’s potential character arc-). But chiaki, she’s just.. there. She’s usually the voice of reason, but as i said, i’d be better for anyone else to do that. She also has no backstory explaining what she does. Why does she like video games? Why is she introverted? How has her personality changed over her life? We don’t get answers for how she acts, which makes her feel superficial.
    Chiaki’s role in the story isn’t great either. I think that anyone else would do chiaki’s role better. As i said, acting as the voice of reason could go to any of the survivors, like fuyuhiko or kazuichi. Chiaki also helps in the trials, but that role isn’t really... necessary for her. Kyoko made sense to carry the trials, as she is a detective and it suits her personality , but chiaki? Chiaki’s role feels forced just so people can have another reason to love her, nothing else. I’d be more natural for her role to be split among the rest of the cast, as i’d 1, chiaki would be more unique from kyoko, and 2, the characters that don’t get as much exposure could get more screen time.
    Overall, Chiaki’s character is bland and forced. The game tries to make her perfect, but this leads to a boring character that’s only purpose is to be appealing and cute. She has little to her character, and her role could be replaced easily, except when it reaches trial 5. However, her role in trial 5 still feels unnatural, and the characters react much more sadly for someone they never had that much of a bond with in the first place.
    Ps. I know she’s presented “perfectly” in the game because her ai is made up of the class’s favorite memories of her. This to me also feels forced, like an excuse so they don’t have to write chiaki as a developmental character with an interesting personality.
    Thank you for listening to my ted talk-

    I know!!! There could have been a real story told about chiaki learning how to form connections with other people and make friends, because it is a real thing people have trouble with and they could have had a real solution for her, adding depth to Chiaki that I personally feel she lacks… but no she plays games with people because she’s a gamer ok

    i absolutely agree with you on the chapter 3 v3 case! all along i knew that korekiyo was the one who killed tenko (since it was really obvious) and i was confident in thinking that it was tenko who killed angie . when it was revealed that korekiyo was the murderer of both of them, it really shocked me to see they missed out on a really good opportunity to incorporate angst, drama and character development to 'spice things up'. i feel that this would help the whole "they're all fiction plot-twist" a lot since it could come off as the impression that the audience were getting bored.
    i also have another one-
    as much as i adore shuichi, i feel like kaede should have stayed as the protag and have shuichi die. kaede had so much potential to me and it made me really sad to see her go :( (this could just be my bias towards kaede)

    I think another writing mistake I have in my opinion is Kanon being an Ince$t character. Kinda like Mikan's 'motive'; 'What was her own motivation for loving Leon'. I get that it was supposed to add drama and to make her a held-up Captive, but never why explain and just fully say about it. Because unlike sister Shin**ji, again that the motive was kinda unclear. They could've just made her like Mukuro.

She knows a lot about serial killers because she research’s them to see how to catch and kill them, she has political power to help herself not get caught, and she shows interest in other cultures so she could learn Spanish for the one interview in Spanish that is brought up.

    The anime should have been 24 eps at least for the zetsubo arc because it reeks of rushed planning story wise like how the fuck is Hajime already talking about talent on the first ep? And they should've had Kodaka directing it instead of a total no one that made those garbage first 5/6 eps
    I remember thinking that Sonia was the mastermind cause she was just really suspicious all the time, princess from a country that we don't know, that has an interest for the occult, that is skilled w military training and that was always in the background for most of the story, it just felt like something more to her was there.
    Talking about Hyoko, yeah it felt like she was just pushed aside w chapter 3 and they didn't rlly know how to kill her, and focusing more on the Mikan motive I think that chapter 3 was when they started to go w the junko is the mastermind idea or when they forgot to shoehorn her in the story
    Yeah trial 4 made Kaito seem really dumb, like I get it that Kaito's more influenced by his emotions but it felt rlly weird for him to persist w defending Gonta even tho Kokichi and Shuichi were saying pretty normal things

    On the point of the third trial of V3, what you seem to be presenting is pretty much the same as what we got in Trigger Happy Havoc. One person putting themself in the position of a blackened, and then someone else taking their life. In that case, Hifumi was set to be the blackened for Taka's murder, but because Celeste killed him before the trial, she ended up getting that title passed on to her. So, even if Tenko was the one who killed Angie before getting killed by Kiyo, that wouldn't change Kiyo's fate. Monokuma could have the rule about the only the first victim's blackened counting have an additional part that mentions the blackened being killed before the trial.

    • @LaiLaiVibes

      Not actually true! Monokuma directly says in V3 the second blacken would go free!

  • @tyagohiee
    @tyagohiee 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    To be honest Kiyo's one wouldn't happen like that. After all, Hifumi killed Taka in the first game and Celeste was still the blackened, so, since Tenko had already died, Kiyo would still be the culprit

    In regards to your V3-3 point, I don’t think that Tenko would be punished, thus leaving Kiyo around for possibly the rest of the game. If we look back to the first game’s thrid trial, Hifumi killed Taka and the Celeste killed Hifumi, and Celeste got punished. As I haven’t played V3, I don’t quite know the rules and regulations that Monokuma added compared to the other 2 games, but I feel like Monokuma would still punish Kiyo as he is the blackened who is still alive

    • @LaiLaiVibes

      @@LaiLaiVibes Ah, I see. So, if Tenko were to kill Angie, only Tenko would be punished. That makes sense. Thanks for correcting me. But then, as expected, comes the issue of “How do you punish Tenko if she’s dead?” Why not have it so that Himiko is the one who is put through something, just not execution. Like, Monokuma makes her fail a magic trick and she NEARLY dies. We know that ghosts are things in this series as shown in Kiyo’s execution, so I feel like Tenko watching Himiko almost die would be a really good way to punish her. Maybe after that, have Monokuma do something to completely eradicate Tenko’s ghost/soul. Throwing salt would work, but it works better for Kiyo given his study of cultures. Maybe have Tenko try to save Himiko, but that’s what causes her ghost to “die” in essence, as that would be in character for Tenko. I don’t know if that would work thoroughly, but it’s just what popped into my head when typing
