    I second Fall Line Ridge. I can't speak from experience, but I can't see how that grapple can be anything but useful. The New Tool Monday videos are great as well!

      Thanks, Aaron. I’m still waiting for them to ship me a new hydraulic cylinder to replace the one that was damaged in shipping so I haven’t really gotten to try it out.

    What were the 2 crucial issues steps that was left out. Can you cover it in the next video

    Your gonna love this tool. Too bad about the cylinder and grease zirks. I'm guessing you did a better job of installing the extra hydraulic remote than a dealer would have. Can't wait for next Monday's tool!

      Next Monday’s tool.... about that....😬 I will be on the Oregon Dunes for the Labor Day weekend. And I can’t afford any more tools😬

      I hear ya. I ordered a chipper for my PTO last summer online and they called me to tell me they had no idea when it would ship. Luckily I had the option to keep my money.

    If you had it over to do would you buy the 4052r over the 4044r or are you happy with the 4044r ?
    I ask this question cause I'm kidding around the two tractors

    • @NorthwestSawyer
      @NorthwestSawyer  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve never felt like I didn’t have enough power. The 4052 is a turbo diesel if I’m not mistaken. I didn’t feel I needed it and don’t have any regrets.

    You'll love that thing, our grapple is very helpful. I dont know why they dont just put the 3rd function valve on coasters to begin with, its a pretty pricey option.

    • @goodboyringo9716
      @goodboyringo9716 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They want you to spend the 1000.00 extra is why they do put it on. (1400.00 I guess if they put it on)

    I’m glad to see you like the root grapple. Did you compare to brush grapple? I do like the two cylinders function of the root grapple

    just ordered a JD 4052 was wondering how you like yours and if you had any trouble with the plastics?

    • @NorthwestSawyer
      @NorthwestSawyer  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m really happy with it, thanks. I have about 150 hours on it with no problems. The plastics are very durable and easy to clean.

    What is the reason for the extra hydraulic lines? If I missed it then I apologize.

    • @NorthwestSawyer
      @NorthwestSawyer  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The kit comes with hard lines to either run to the middle of the tractor or the rear.

  • @jamesjones7858
    @jamesjones7858 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Do you have a link for the 3rd function kit you got?

    • @NorthwestSawyer

      I bought it from the John Deere dealer.

      Great video! I was shopping tractors and grapples today at my local John Deere and the salesman wanted to sell me a diverter valve for the 3rd function which doesn’t allow grapple function at the same time as the couple/ dump. Sure am glad I found this video. Might need to talk to parts.

    Congrats on the new toy, oh I mean tool. Did you look at everything attachments grapples before pulling the trigger on the Titan?

    • @NorthwestSawyer
      @NorthwestSawyer  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I looked around quite a bit. I’m sure I did. I like the dual claw of the Titan and the way the hoses are protected. It looks like it’s built well. UPS on the other hand....

    Have you ever thought about building a gasifier unit to run on the excess wood you're burning via woodgas? The wood needs to be in chips and put into metal hoppers on a gasifier. The woodgas then powers a generator, which can likely power a lot of the items you need. This all works via biofuel, which turns into the end result of biochar. Just something to maybe look into.

    How much does it weigh ? Just curious if tractor would lift full grapple of green brush

    • @NorthwestSawyer
      @NorthwestSawyer  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s 700lbs. The loader is rated at just under 3k.

      I’m still waiting for the replacement cylinder for the one damaged in shipping. Well, that and working 7 days a week doesn’t leave much time for tractor work😬

  • @michaelschettl9509

    That doesn't look like damage that occurred during shipping it appears to have been hit by a grinder at the manufacturer before, it ever shipped.

    So what were the two key pieces of info missing? Please, looking at doing the same myself ;)

    • @NorthwestSawyer
      @NorthwestSawyer  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      On the first hydraulic line you replace there’s an adapter you have to swap out that they make no mention of and then there are electrical plugs that go into each end of the valve. They left that out too and it’s almost impossible to get to once the valve is installed. Also, there’s two plugs so you have to guess which goes where.

    Lets see, pacific northwest, 3hrs behind me ( Pittsburgh). So you posted @ about 11pm your time. My God, man get some sleep. I can wait to see all your toys and stuff. My excuse is I'm old and have no life, except to live vicariously thru others. Golly, i miss working and being part of the world. Anyway, Love your vlogs, keep it up.

    As a root grapple, can it actually deal with tree roots?

    • @charleyandsarah
      @charleyandsarah 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We have a similar setup, it kinda can, but the tractor is more the limitation. You can tear up bushes, underbrush, and small trees, maybe under 3", but above that it starts to get dicey

    • @baltsosser
      @baltsosser 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok. I ask because this week, grappling with roots is exactly what I was doing. Took me a week to clear out a Magnolia stump that was a good 4' across. Heavy brutal work. Thanks for the feedback.

    Other than the condition of the grapple when it came (which I think is unnecessary) it should do the job very nicely.....you will wonder how you got along without it this long.....lol.

      According to UPS, it had been sitting in their freight dept for a week and a half.
