This glitch no longer works since they removed the Z-Type car. The detail number has to match to be able to paint the bike. It does work to paint the new electric bike. You have to use the car to the right of the Adder (make sure it's detail#9)

Just did a little detective work. To get the Scorcher in a custom color, use this same trick but with the car next to the Z-Type...the Grotti Stinger. Cheers!

So this glitch works with other bikes too you just have to find the car that matches (detail#) for example I just got a red cruiser by doing the same glitch but instead of the z type and bmx do the Adder and the cruiser

Well, I just tried this right after I saw this video and it works! Usually, when purchasing a BMX bike they give you a grey one as standard. I used this method here in the video to get a black one and I GOT IT! It is here in my garage now! Do it exactly how he mentions in this video!

The way the bike looks after I got it the color I wanted, looks like they originally had the option to change the color but got lazy and didn't put the option in, because it takes time just to make things work so you can change the color.

Some, but not all. Pink and the lime green can only be acquired thru this method. NPCs have a dark green bmx along with variants of brushed or polished grey and brushed or polished black. I feel sometimes there's a a darker red bmx that pops up. Recently a mission was added (Central Leak, I think) that spawns some purple bmx bikes for the Ballas however these purple ones cannot be stored in your garage by standard methods for whatever fucking reason.
Also if you buy a bmx they are insured by Mors but they won't cover the bmx unless there's another vehicle destroyed waiting for you to claim. So buy what-the-fuck ever vehicle and just destroy it and just never claim it. That unclaimed vehicle will serve a higher purpose, guaranteeing your bmx will always be replaced if destroyed.
