Holy fuck. This is exactly why I love Son Lux, the visuals along with the lyrics and music? Incredible.
I'm not religious person but I know the story of that dude who's about to sacrifice his son to prove his loyalty to his god (only to be told by that god to sacrifice a lamb instead) all too well. And I love the way it was used here.
The way it shows how their relationship began and how it fell apart. And how he lost his temper and hurt her, and how he realises his mistake. How the guilt eats him and how he tries to atone for his sins. And in the end, how he tries to do so by getting rid of the hand that hurt his partner. (Which the doctors sew back on, because it's him who hurt her, not his hand. But maybe I'm looking too deep into that.) It tells a story, beginning to end, and I just really like that.
Now i get the story behind the video... i knew the story of sacrificing the son too but didnt get it as i watched the vid. Does this mean after he sacrificed his son, he cut his own hand? Because he regret it afterwards? Honestly i didnt ever watched and listened to such a song and music video, thats why i want to understand the whole thing.. aaand because i really like Tatiana Maslany
Cagatay Özkaynak No, he didn't sacrifice his son. He maybe was about to, but he cut off his hand instead. That's why, in the beginning, you see the son stand in the hospital hallway with a shocked expression on his face. He probably cut off his hand instead of sacrificing his son because he realises that he should be the one paying for his mistakes, not his child.

astroscyph it was Abraham who was told to sacrifice Isaac in the book of genesis and it's about your relationship with Yeshua not "religions", all other "religion's" are made to distract you from the truth of Yeshua and the scriptures, why do you think the bible is so hated and attacked the most? Contemplate on that. And here's a little history lesson, YAHWEH flooded the earth because fallen angels mated with women and created the nephilim aka the giant's you see in movies etc that you think are just fantasy & look at genesis 6 if you think im making it up tons of other scripture talking about them that's why YAHWEH had the Israelites destroy and kill certain people, also in Joshua 10:13 Joshua commanded the sun & moon to stop which is more proof for a geocentric flat earth, the bible is the inspired word of YAHWEH and full of truths & that is why it is hated, may you find the truth, repent, believe in the gospel and make Yeshua Lord and savior of your life & no need to reply i won't respond & i have notifications turned off be blessed.
I’ve been a fan for around 6 years now. Specific songs got me through the depression and insanity of toxic love and drug addiction. I listened to those songs over and over with tears streaming down my face begging god for a chance to find happiness and a better me. And your songs were my string to hold on to this world until I did. Thank you so much son lux.

That is one of the most beautifully shot videos I’ve ever watched. And I could watch Cullen and Maslany reading the phonebook. They are mesmerizing in every thing they do.
I LOVE how they incorporate little melodies from their other songs into newer ones, like in this one around 3:44 you can hear the little melody from weapons, and in songs like breathe in and breathe out their all connected it’s so cool

Hi, for those interested in an explanation of the religious imagery and symbolisms here's my take:
The picture the guy stares on the wall, represents the Biblical story of Abraham and his son Isaac. In it, God tested the faith and faithfulness of Abraham and tells him to sacrifice his only son. Abraham obeys and leaves with Isaac to a mountain top and prepares everything in order to sacrifice him. At the last second God instructs Abraham to stop and provides a ram for the sacrifice.
In the video the father cutting his own hand instead of sacrificing his son is a metaphor of the words of Jesus in Matthew 5:30: "If your right hand is the reason you sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go to hell."
In other words the father realizes his love for his son and concludes he's incapable of doing anything bad to him, so he chooses to cut his own hand to stop himself from doing it.
I find it odd anyway, cause he wasn't going to sacrifice his son beacause of God's command, but if so, in the story of Abraham, it was not a sin that he wanted to obey God, it was only a test. I mean I cannot connect the two Bible verses.
In my opinion there's not a direct connection. But if you allow me to, I think the video is trying to make clear that sacrifices that involve hurting anyone (emotionally or physically) are not the answer.
When the guy is sitting at the table with his family he seems to receive a divine revelation of what he "should do" He interprets the sign as an order to take his son and sacrifice him. But then he suddenly has the revelation that the issue with his wife will not be solved by doing this, but actually the problem is in himself and cutting his hand (which was used to abuse his wife and his son) is the first step to solve his problems.
Finally (at the beginning of the video) we see him at the hospital, in the exact same room (maybe this was a budget thing, but I want to se it metaphorically, lol) where his wife had their kid. I see this as a representation of a new beginning, a new chance to make things right. All this, of course, without escaping the consequences of his actions (his kid with the surprised stare in disbelief)
Surströmming can There is, because Abraham was stoped, this guy wasn't. As well Abraham found a lamb for a sacrifice instead. Therefor he probably realised his head is messed up (guy in video) and he stoped himself the best way Bible descirbe it (it was kind of symbolizm as well).
Ángel Román Hmm so far this explanation seems the most relevant to me. Anyway I know that Son Lux isnt related to christianity (correct me if im wrong), and the way they use references are not that straightforward and are for the sake of their art.
Surströmming can I started following the Son Lux since 'We are rising' but actually since 'At war...' there were songs inspired by Biblical passages. I'm pretty sure Ryan is or at least was a Christian at some point. There is some info here:

What a perfect expression.
I honestly think this video connects to the you don’t know me video. Almost like a prequel Giving that Tatiana is in both. In you dont know me she hates her lover, and runs a cult.
Perhaps after she loses her child and her husband(I’m assuming the boy dies and the husband either died or is arrested after the all directions video)
She has a mental break. After being abused by a religion obsessed husband, she creates her own religion to make sure she’s always in charge, but yet despite this craves love but can never find a partner to replace her love.
One of the biggest connections is when she gave birth there was yellow blood on the sheet, the child bled gold, and in you dont know me Tatianas cult character again bleeds drips of yellow/gold.
Obviously I could be completely wrong but I feel like they chose Tatiana to do two films for a reason, and I wouldn’t be surprised if she returns in the future with the next installment of the story
