idk man i just smoked weed and thought how does qr code work they got so many bars and stuff like barcode and ppl can generate it to a link and what is it
There is also an important step at the end, the black and white pixels that contain the data must be XoR-ed with one of the 8 mask patterns in order to minimize the appearance of fake alignment patterns (the black square inside a white square inside a black square) that might randomly appear from storing the data
Fun facts: QR stands for Quick Response and barcode is storing data in 1d while QR code stores in 2d. Also it was found by some car manufacturers (i think Hyundai was one of them) and then it got so popular that we use it today almost everywhere Bonus: barcode is called this way because well... Its a code in a bar

Great video! I got curious and started looking into QR codes.. this video excellently presents almost everything I learned from almost 50 minutes of other videos, very concisely. Thanks!
Only a few hours ago I applied a sticker onto my computer tablet that is a QR code link to a video. No, not a rickroll, but Anakin Skywalker's "I have brought peace, justice, and sceurity to my new empire!" speech. Because all my new stickers are Star Wars.
With today's smartphones and better cameras and processing, QR codes are so much easier to use. When people started to use them in late 2000's to early 2010's they SUCKED. You had to align them at just the right angle and even then you have to hold very, very still for the code to scan. It was so bad.
1:27 - Feels nice being appreciated :) 2 seconds later - I couldn't pause in 2 tries and frame-by-frame skips the message so I kept replaying the last second until I got it xD
QR codes are great. The best type of invention, really simple and makes life easier. Writing the link manually was often really annoying and they fixed the problem. Plus, when theres a QR code to scan, people will scan them even out of curiosity. Like, theres no bad things about it, only good.
I scanned the QR code on the thumbnail before I clicked on the video. Why did I know it was going to be a rickroll? Do I know internet too well? Have I spent too much time on here?
can you pleasse explain how QR codes mirrored and rotated still rick rolls me?? I tried taking a screen shot, mirrored it horizontally and rotated it once clock wise. Aka still having that mark on top-left, bottom-left, top-left, top-right but with that "type of data" 2x2 was flipped so how does that work?! not even the same info detected right?
There’s a single pixel on the bottom left alignment square that does not exist on the top right one. If it’s mirrored, that pixel ends up on the top right, which most modern scanners (most phones) can recognize. Older scanners might have difficulties scanning mirrored codes, though. Check out this paper and look at figure 2, you will see the pixel: arxiv.org/pdf/1902.05722.pdf
Scanned the QR code and got an unskippable ad...
NOOO
Me 2😂
Same
Ok
"AN"?!? I GOT 2 UNSKIPPABLE ADS
I love how some of us have evolved a sense to detect a rickroll even before clicking the video
OP had this calculated and proceed to rickroll us anyway
I've simply memorized first few symbols of video ID by pure repeated exposure alone
Oh

QR-Codes using Kanji as a data type feels so random
Fr i have no idea how that got in there
@@medo_0x00 did you literally not watch the video? the qr code was invented by a japanese guy! ofc one of the data types is kanji
@@mrmurpleqwerty4838 i missed that part my bad
like someone else in the reply said, it seems random until you realize the guy who designed it was japanese and therefore uses kanji

Me too
Holy it really blew up
The physics video was awesome😂
Frustrates me beyond believe that’s there’s a square in three of the corners but not the fourth.
3 points define a plane
If you put one in the fourth corner, how would you know which way is up?
There is a 4th box but it’s smaller
perhaps the fourth corner square is the friends we made along the way.

You told me exactly what that QR code did but I scanned it anyway
I unironically like that song
I love this kinda videos, keep going! U will get more subs for sure
If you can't read it, NEVER scan it. Enough is enough. They don't think YOU are stupid. THEY are literally banking on it.

I wasn't going to click the video, but out of curiosity, I scanned the code on the thumbnail
I see now how the curiosity killed the cat
Bro your channel is giving me "This" vibes, that channel started similarly to yours channel (I think) and I hope yours grows just like his : D
i felt the same!!!!
yeah he's kinda copied a bit too much from "This." imo, if you look at his chatgpt video the thumbnail and title is a direct rip-off

I expected this video to go into the history of use who invented em etc. but didn't expect you to be so matter of fact...

I love how some of us have evolved to know a rickroll before even seeing one
I just wish it was possible to store the Doom source code on a QR code. Doom is just too big for that, though.
i knew it was gonna be a rick roll and i got saved by an ad

The thumbnail: Do not scan *qr code*
Me: "You know the rules"
Me *checks the QR*
Me: "And so do I"
Scanned. Expected Rick Roll, got Rick Roll, thus not rickrolled. But since not rickrolled while expected to be rickrolled...
I got rickrolled! Good job.
India stops functioning if QR code fails😅
I new I was going to get rickrolled but I still did it. I don't regret it

I wondered why qr codes have a pixel for kanji. Then you explained a Japanese guy built it. Lol
I scanned the QR code on the thumbnail and got no ads, Just got rick rolled
As someone who scanned, I confirm I that I didn't get rick rolled.
Guessed it's gonna be a rick-roll from miles away.... Still scanned it!
you r smart and funny too keep going
Bro rickrolled me with the thumbnail
I think the upper left square is enough to know the position of the code. That would give room for more info.
