Interesting. I never heard of that before. I planted lemon grass this year but thought it was only used in Asian cooking and was going to try a recipe with it.

Excellent! You don’t need to dilute the essential oil?

Pours oil onto comb, Bees take no notice. Which studies did you base this assertion on?

Michigan beekeeper as well... one more run on the honey flow as the golden rod begins to bloom...

Lets hope it is a good bloom... my bees are working overtime on my squash, zucchini, mint, and cucumbers, but I am not sure if it will be enough. Might have to pull out the organic sugar syrup to help them out.

haha it is true, Sindy was filming and the bees where checking her out, and I wondered why, but then I realized she used lemon grass oil shampoo.

The Fat Bee Man uses this place for essential oils for his beekeeping, just thought I'd pass along one of his connections. shop.lorannoils.com/essential-oils-spa-crafting/essential-oils When I move to the family farm, I intend to start keeping bees and using his tips & tricks. I can't wait to keep bees. It'll be so awesome.

Great job of recycling the honey from the cut-out... beware of robbing behavior with open feeding.... may be a better idea to put it in a neutral place rather than right in front of the entrances.... girls may get grumpy when other bees and insects are in their space....

I agree, I would have moved it further, but the issue was the bees did not want to leave far from their hive with how cold is has been this past week. We hot into the low 60's as a high and mid 40's as a low. The bees need every ounce of food and building material to make it through the winters here, So I am working overtime, even planting wildflowers now to give them extra food close to home.
