      worse then that, in the original she failed and was tortured by having feet and died alone. plus it's cultural appropriation of a famous story from Denmark. They even have a statue in it's honor from August 23, 1913 way before disney "made it popular".

    • @deamorebeaute2412
      @deamorebeaute2412 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because it's a fictional movie about INDIGENOUS Africans and their various cultures. White people are not indigenous to Africa, so it wouldn't make sense. Just like it didn't make sense to create a movie about a mermaid that's white. Especially, when Europeans did not originally invent the concept of mermaid folklore. So, if we are talking about proper mythological and folkloric representation, mermaids would be POC. White people are free to make movies about cultural traditions that can't be traced outside the continent of Europe. White people weren't even the first humans to invent mathematics, astrology, art, literature, religion, law, universities to issue educational degrees, medicine, tools, metallurgy, international trade, domestication of animals, pasturage of animals, basic hygiene rituals, or militarism, but they have the audacity to cry about a mermaid not being white. GTFOH.
      If white people have a problem with black people, they are more than free to give back the homosapien DNA black people afforded them. White people can go start their own human race on another planet. Leave all the wildlife, natural raw resources, water sources, homosapiens innovations and culture on their way out.
      I don't understand why white people and their supporters act like mother nature selected their human population to walk this Earth, first. Relax, yourselves.

      Periodt sis it’s because Walt was a racist that’s where it all began. African Americans wouldn’t get representation until 2009 with Princess Tiana and they still won’t give us another black princess more than 10 years later.
      Then people wanna get upset when they wanna choose a more representative cast for a fictional princess that was already framed white but in reality would be green. Anyways the creators are too lazy and the fans a little too comfortable with having 6 or more disney princesses stay white. It’s all rooted in the racism of Walt Disney Films…and idk if I even want to watch the live action anymore. Racists on twitter have ruined it..

    If little black girls loved white Ariel, but those same little girls grow up, have their own children; and are not able to love black Ariel?…. Completely soulless. Ariel’s original skin color was green because she’s an imaginary sea creature, and the first books that Mermaids had ever appeared were West African Folklores. But there are countless Caucasian actors who have played black, brown, Asian, Native American characters and everything in between-in full black face or caricatured makeup. We seem to easily forget Lawrence Olivier’s stunning (and it was!) performance, in full black face, as Othello, or Scarlett Johansson as a Japanese woman in Ghost in the Shell, or Ben Affleck playing Tony Mendez, a Mexican American man in Argo. Or Elizabeth Taylor as Cleopatra, John Wayne as Ghengis Khan, Angelina Jolie as a biracial woman in A Mighty Heart, or Mickey Rooney as a Chinese man (heavily riddled in racial stereotypes) in Breakfast At Tiffany’s….the list goes on and on and on. But let Ariel be a beautiful black Mermaid….right? RIGHT!!

      So Scarlett Johansson isn't playing an asian woman. She is playing a robot with a human brain. Also if you look at the original manga that robot does not look asian.
      How about instead of changing the skincolor of Ariel, (which is not from west-african folklore, she is a white character created by Disney over 30 years ago. Based on a story, not from west-african folklore, but from Denmark. Thats the Denmark in Europe) they create a new mermaid princess and make her black. Doesn't seem like it would be so hard to do. I think I've heard somewhere that there even is some folklore in west-africa they can use. Sound like a win to me.

      @@rasheedjamal9091 Hard to say, because Moses is from a specific place and time, unlike the Little Mermaid, who lives under the sea, in a unspecified area, so it's easier to make an adaptation with Japanese and other Asian characters 😉
      By the way, there can be adaptations of Moses's story in anime and manga, but the characters would simply be dubbed in Japanese for the local market, as it was with many meisaku (Sherlock Holmes, Heidi, Ie Naki Ko ~ Rémi Sans Famille, Belle And Sebastian, Versailles no Bara, and many other adaptations from famous novels in the 1970s-1980s). And the original chara-design would be kept as in the original novels, except maybe for Heidi, often represented as a blonde girl with blue eyes in postcards they sell in Bavaria
      About English actors playing characters from the Bible, or Jesus often represented as a Caucasian, it's Hollywood's usual white washing: how can be Egyptians be so white, with the climate they live in ? Many people who live in a very different countries from where they come from end up with physical transformation because their body adapts to the environment: Caucasian people's skin gets darker in tropical countries or Africa, African people's skin may get lighter in Europe and cold weathered countries, etc ... So how could Cleopatra be as white as seen in the movies ? ? ?
      People getting shocked by a Black actress playing a character often represented as a Caucasian need to get rid of that habit of Hollywood's white washing of characters that weren't originally white, as those in the Bible or Ancient Egypt, as they'd need to get real, seriously
