Here is the difference between Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsay. Gordon hears 'you screwed up' and goes 'how do I do better?' while Jamie hears 'you screwed up' and goes 'I am right, you are wrong' and that is why Gordon is master chef and Jamie is not.

I'm a Gordon stand but let's be honest when he burnt the hell out of that grilled cheese sandwich and did a horrible batch of ramen he didn't sit here and go like okay I'm going to figure out how to do it better.
      😏🤷‍♂️
And now on his recent video with Uncle Roger he's talking about how much he loves vegetarians now I think they've done got to Gordon.

I live in the city that Jamie came to here in the US. He went into the schools here and tried to replace the entire menu. He took out the pizza and replaced it with spaghetti that was made of veg. He also ignored the states guidelines on how much of each food group was to be served at each meal. The kids hated it, and the kids and the school quickly threw his stuff out. The school board wanted to make sure kids were eating since this might be the only thing they would eat that day. WV is very poor, and some kids wouldn’t have meals if it wasn’t for school lunches. Several schools even offer free lunches during the summer.

  • @Gogettor
    @Gogettor 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

Brian+Frenchy, I fully agree with your take on comments:
I could think "well, Ramsay's earnt the right to do whatever he wants", but have the humility to say "this is my take on X Y or Z dish" (which is outside one's training / expertise / zone of comfort).
Let's say, I'd love to see Jacques Pepin cook carbonara, but I'm sure he wouldn't pull a Jamie Oliver and say "this is the most authentic spaghetti carbonara you will try" and start with butter (as he obviously will, cause we know butter rocks!).
Man, just have an iota of humbleless, know what you know and either go 1) full legit Wellington Ramsay or 2) day this is your SYWGF interpretation of Lebanese Kibbe Naieh and make it steak tartare-like, incorporating Paul's background and maybe a weird, non-arabic take by Brian or pilaf with Lao Gan Ma.
Just don't sell yourself as an "authority" if I can outclass you as a mediocre home chef but incorporating a little reading and practice but definitely more passion than you, clown.

I cannot with Jamie. He clearly cannot take criticism of any kind. You have to blow smoke up his ass or shut up.
He clearly doesn’t respect or care about food from other countries/cultures. He has the money and the means to learn. He has an entire team that can do the legwork for him. But he doesn’t. He has even had other chefs come on his program and make these dishes WITH him and he hasn’t learned a thing. It’s incredible.

Storror crew is the bomb they are a UK based Parkour group. They've got a bunch of real great challenge vids. Note the scenes they do like the one you showed are all rehearsed so the security guard and people chasing are playing parts. For videos like this they have permission from the building, they are usually sponsored, they have insurance, crews off camera, etc.
Parkour is considered a performance artform where the end product is a performance piece that has been rehearsed and orchestrated (e.g. dancers, or gymnasts doing floor work at the Olympics all performing pre-arranged pieces). The sport of Freerunning is the variant of parkour that is about making up stunts in the moment (e.g. freestyle skateboarding).
You'll tend to see more over the top moves in Parkour as they are all pre-scouted out and practiced incrementally in stages and then strung together. For real complex jumps they will measure the jumps and setup mock conditions on the ground or in the gym to practice the jumps over and over. Something this big probably involved several months of work to put together, rehearse, get the timings correct, etc.

Sainsbury is big grocery store company and if I remember correctly it was either them or shell that Jamie partnered with and said that they would give some profits to the farmers but either failed or screwed the farmers in the end of it. Idk which one because he partnered with both of them and I live in the states. But I do know that there is video by Mashed that explains both and would probably be a good video you guys should look into.
Edit Nvm mind it was another’ grocery store in Australia that screwed the farmers idk what the thing with Sainsbury is about.

I've been saying what Brain said earlier for years - being good at one cuisine does NOT make you an experr in all the cooking.
Jamie (and many other celebrity "chefs") is a classic example of what I call "emperor's new clothes syndrome". At some point you get too big for your own head, you're surrounded by toadies, the money keeps rolling in and at some point you start believing you can do no wrong. So you start doing crazy things - somtimes possibly just to see if you can get away with trolling.

As someone with an Ike's subs near by. The subs are not bad, the issue is more the pricing of the subs. For a 6" from Ikes you end up paying almost twice than a 12" from subway or Togo's. Your at that point paying for name brand and not the quality of food.

Controversial take: I like sausage in "paella", but I know it isn't authentic and I would be damn sure to note that it isn't authentic if I was putting out a video.

Unpopular opinion but I think Jamie Oliver is worse than Cooking with Jack upon learning all that stuff Jamie did to the UK. Like they're both horrible but I think Jamie's done far worse damage for the sanctity of pushing eating healthy onto others instead of letting folks having a choice.
Also Brian I know you have dyslexia as you've mentioned before in the past but, Bichelangelo is supposed to be pronounced like Michelangelo. Though "Bitch-a-ngelo" was quite funny.

I feel like Jamie or his PR team are really missing a trick. The interweb would f*****g lose it if he ever decided to collab with Uncle Roger at this point.

Jamie Oliver does take himself a bit too seriously. He’d be a funny guest for anyone to get, just to see why he doesn’t care that he’s changing these dishes.

I think it's about educating the viewer/consumer wrongly / misinformation. If you make a video for a specific dish, it should be a traditional. If you do something different or substitute ingredients, educate the viewer and tell them why you do it. Otherwise you just "teached" millions of viewers a wrong thing. Those millions of viewers then might not even like the traditional dish if they ever taste it. A similar thing is happening with wine. If a Barolo tastes like a Bordeaux Blend, something is wrong. They doctored it to make it heavy, bold, sweet, oaky, etc. Sure it'll appeal to some wine drinkers, but it's not what a Barolo should taste like. If they ever have a traditional Barolo they'll think "eww doesn't taste like a Barolo at all"
    Sorry for the rant xD

I don't actually agree, even though I understand the point. At a certain point we should call it a different dish, or a certain person's interpretation, but if you get too into the minutia you end up with where wine is at where everything is named by the year.
A recipe should be standardized enough so that it is recognizable but loose enough to allow for personal tastes. If you want to get into what is "traditional" you're going to find thousands of different homes that traditionally make the same thing differently. This goes for a lot of things, you can be taught hundreds of different ways to throw a punch from a variety of different martial disciplines. All of them are effective for their purpose and all of them are traditional.
Not defending some of the food crimes people like Jamie Oliver does. It's fine if the recipe is changed a bit, but it should still taste good and be executed as well as possible for the purpose out of respect for life.

@@Puzzlesocks Love your answer, you're right of course that the same dish will vary from region to region. I left that fact out because I didn't want my rant to get any longer xD

tbf a whole pound of guac is gonna be wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more than 99% of people eat in an entire month. That is a LOT of guacamole. For a restaurant I could turn that 1 pound into a few hundred dollars of profit easy.

The first time I saw Jamie O. was in the '90's . He had a show called "The Naked Chef". I wanted to watch it just to see how he reacted when the hot oil splattered on him. I thought it would be funny...sadly, no.

@@crowdemon_archives I am not sure if the colour can be traced back that far correctly. But there are some Allosaurus depictions with smaller spikes around the edges of the head. Not as extensive as with the Dracorex Hogwartsia (thank me later), but still. But I would have to dive into some research before I could deny or confirm for sure.
