It was my winner but i cant deny i laughed when they ended up with 8 televote points because i was just too baffled it happened. 💀
So, France sends a song which isn't in a stereotypical French chanson style and ends up being the most underrated entry of the year! What a missed opportunity to show appreciation for a truly great song and performance, just as representative of its country as Barbara Pravi's piece was last year. Proud to have given Alvan & Ahez my vote! Love from Italy

The problem here is that this is not "french" it is (i dont know how it is called in english) "breton" and even if i love this song i am kind of "disappointed" about the fact that they represent France😅 (but i still love the Vibe of this song)
Breton is a regional language of France. This was the perfect opportunity to celebrate all the diversity of Europe in the Eurovision contest, in order to send the message that Europe is also this. We don't forget regional cultures :)

It would indeed have been a great opportunity to celebrate the richness of regional differences within the same country (Italy also has so many of its own regional languages and dialects). One of the things that disappointed me the most about this year's ESC was how underrated this song was.

Thanks! We have our own Pre-Eurovision competition to select the champions to send. So this ensures French entries are more or less representative of French talents and tastes, and not just tailor-made to game the system.
This is not France, it's Britanny.
This is EXACTLY what Eurovision is about, mixing your own culture with modern sounds. This song was so underrated by juries and public, it's honestly criminal. How did this get so few votes is beyond me.
I understand everyone, but France.. did not deserve this less points at all, such beautiful choreography, dance and light angles were not even available in most other countries' performances.
I loved their performance in their National Contest, and their Semi-final performance too... but the cinematography was subpar... It didn't show anything, all a jumble mess of shots of the stage, weird angles, it was bad... Other thing that went wrong was that the voices were drowned by the rest of the music, that also happened with other contestants...

It's been over two months now and it's still hurts. I've never seen my favorite entry receive such an atrocious result. I just hope it will not stop France from taking risks and sending really unique songs to Eurovision, as well as the other countries.

This is the bit that hurts the most. Not just will the France TV execs be like "anything that isn't white bread Paris doesn't sell", they will actively revert to the laziest possible entries and staging, and the cultural shift of like acknowledging that the number one thing that makes France interesting is its underrated diversity and not this extremely Emily in Paris view of Frenchness, is just such a lost opportunity.

The vocals were super weak in their live performance, and their voices are being drowned out by the song. I loved the studio version but thought the live version was pretty bad.

I have a theory that we've actually been actively trying not to win these past few decades to avoid hosting the contest ourselves. Whoever is in charge must've been sweating when Voilà almost won lol

Breton is a beautiful language! It was so nice to see some Celtic language group representation in Eurovision. Overall I think we need to hear more native languages in Esc. Both majority languages and regional/minority languages are always welcome in my book.
Next year, France will send a song with the Eiffel Tower in the background and the words "Je t'aime" and they will win because people don't like orginality.

Tanxugueiras almost represented Spain singing in Galician but finally was chose Chanel in an unfair way since Tanxugueiras obtained the majority of the popular vote.

Regional languages are always something I very welcome. Chanel was like...the most stereotypical summer hit song I have ever heard (doesn't mean she did bad. Her performance was extremely good).

Exactly that! It is so incredibly sad that the results (which I consider completely unfair in case of France) were so low, and that they may discourage the French from sending another similar song, which is extremely unique! For example, France could've just take the place of Spain or Sweden this year, I'm so sure of it! But to my greatest disappointment, it didn't. Spain and Sweden may have good songs, but they are not GREAT as France's one is. I hope that they send something like that in the following years on Eurovision and get the appreciation and results they really deserve! But still it is so bitter, I am still frustrated with the votes... I was even hoping that they get the first place or at least be in the top three songs... Love to France for such a unique performance from Ukraine!

This was my absolute favourite. The witchy aestethic, the staging, the singing, all on point. I was so mad with the scores. The jury and public really screwed them over. Most other songs were just generic pop, but France sent actually interesting and unique music in a minority language.

As a French woman I was for once proud that we could show some cultural diversity and heritage and not some generic parisian-hipster pop or some vintage cliché song (sorry to Barbara, who came 2nd place last year, she was cute but overrated by the other countries in my eyes). I am not the most chauvinistic person at all but for this special song I was super hyped and proud. And so, so disappointed with the scores, as well as confused, especially after Shum by Go_A got soooo popular last year, as they deserved in my opinion.
@brotinger_1 to be fair I do think I am pretty unbiased too. The "bad" dancing can be endearing to some people, it's a mere detail. Any other country could have pulled this exact song and I would have been hyped to the same point. The fact that France came up with it this time is just a happy coincidence that allowed me to be kinda proud for a split second. Nothing more.
I still do think the diversity and originality deserved more recognition and the song is among my favorites with Serbia's and Lithuania's, for example.

When I think of French music, Edith Piaf comes to my mind but there are also artists like Jean Michel Jarre. French electronic music has been popular for decades. Also French is not the only language spoken in the country. Paris and Provence are usually in the spotlight but not this time.

I really liked this song but I think its downfall was the performance. Vocals were not really that strong and u could hear how nervous they were and It was hard to listen to because I felt like they were singing off sync like at times felt like they are speeding the tempo or going slower. Small things but made my experience alot worse. Studio version? Flawless and I think deserved to be atleast top 10. Performance lacked dynamics

To those who can't get enough of this song like me, the entire Magma album from alvan is great! I cannot recommend it enough. They may not have won eurovision, but they definitely won a new fan.
Probably one of the least deserved results in eurovision history--Fulenn is filled with energy and sparks, with a heavy dose of culture too! I hope the French delegation continues to take such musical risks, even though I loved Voila myself! 😊

I'm soooo disappointed with the jury and the public. Alvan& Ahez were amazing, their song was different, and people and jury just voted for the basics. I didn't expect it to be so low, that's a shame. You guys were the best, keep singing🇨🇵!!! People can't appreciate authenticity and originality. That's the biggest robbery I have ever seen in this contest.

As a french eurofan , I've to admit that , like a lot of eurofans, that I'm shocked by our result last night.
We didn't expect to win our even to finish in the top 10 , but at least the top 15. But we finished pre-last.
Despite that , we're really proud of Alvan & Ahez ! And I've no regrets for voted them during the national final in March ! ❤️

This song was what decided me to watch the Eurovision this year. I'm not sure what happened with the points, maybe the fact that France was very early in the starting order means a lot of people missed it, but I hope we will have more songs like this going forward because this one is an absolute banger!
Its ukraine cheats. 60 % people who get out of ukraine vote for her own countries on a different countries outside of her land so its easy to get 600 point. The song of ukraine was not very ggod and 40 %are sad song . This year was pure cheating its not a competion 60 %are song similare if you look carefully.

Yes, i agree. I voted several times for this song and this one was my favourite in the final. It's a song that reflects the ancient Celtic culture from Bretagne and mixes it with very cool electronic sounds. The mix was great but general public didn't get it. Too complex for them i guess. This song will go to my favourites of the ESC.

I love you, and for once LOVED the song of my country this year (I mean Brittany, not France :p).
I was so angry when I saw the Ireland jury didn't give us any point. They don't listen to the songs before voting, it's not possible other way. There are 30ish juries, _how_ can they ALL vote for the same song?? For a boring, mainstream & soulless song if I may? If the song had been in Galician or Asturian, maybe... Also I admit it _was_ like a ice bucket splashed on me when I saw we received only 17 points from televote. Where has the Breton diaspora gone too? No one can tell me there are ONLY 17 Bretons scattered across Europe who follow the ESC! My theory is that the rest are in Russia or just have no taste either and no sense of community.
Maybe if the group had been Corsican, we'd have got more points.
Anyway the juries always have sucked, but I felt SO betrayed by the Irish one specifically.

I've regularly watched ESC for two decades and this ending up 2nd to last with only 17 points is the biggest robbery I can remember. Alvan & Ahez won my vote and my heathen heart, singing in your regional language about female empowerment in such a subversive mystical way should be considered the best you can offer on Eurovision. I hope that they know how special they are and that France is proud of them despite the absurdly bad result ❤️

@@isabellagazelle7886 ok, actually this song never meant to be at Eurovision, it hasn't been made for it. Moreover, the green lights represent the forest, perhaps Brocéliande, in Brittany. The triskell -which is the symbol on the floor- is a famous Celtic one in Brittany. It's my people culture
