So I said heck it and took the 2CP worker for the FIRST time ever in my games! And guess what... I ended up winning against the opponent who was higher elo than me! agree with this video. i think it really depends on whats happening in the game at the moment, and you're own tempo. sometimes that next worker can really accelerate the tempo of your game, especially if the opponent doesnt have that extra worker yet, but this relies on being able to cash in on it as an advantage, which in turn also relies on good control of the break. Love this video

Usually when want a worker anyway and a reward bonus is looking more interesting than an upgrade which is quite often. I'm especially fan of the 2 CP worker plus two size reward into no build upgrade style. It's very strong if that 2 size helps you gain immediate tempo and cost savings.
@NoWondersTV yeah i think the worker reward is rarely worth it early. IF you want extra workers, which often you don't actually, the worker from CP + 2 size or snapping is usually better than upgrade i think. That said taking upgrade and snapping is probably still the most common combination because often you don't have time to use an extra worker or you get it in other ways already (8 rep, communicator etc.)
I wouldn't say never, but the two maps I probably do it on the least are Hollywood Hills and Silver Lake. Build is a reasonably good upgrade on both maps, and if you're taking worker at 2CP it usually means you're skipping upgrading Build. But it's still totally viable to do it as well.
Sometimes in later rounds you think that extra worker might be good to get extra friendships and universities, which might benefit more than some card upgrade. When you have enough projects but need some symbols or continents too. I will give it a try for sure, especially as you say that card upgrade sometimes is not critical.
That's the other thing, yeah. Even if the last worker doesn't give you 2 CP it means you get bonuses from 3rd Uni or 4th Partner Zoo. Having the extra worker helps you get all of those (although doing projects is still better, but we're not always lucky)
One thing you didn’t mention is that 2cp worker makes it a lot easier to get your 3rd worker (off of 8rep). I find that I often don’t want to take a reward worker, preferring better options (snapping, 2size, x’s). It’s easy to get near the end of the game with only 2 workers and get yourself caught (maybe needing 3xs AND 3rd worker to do your last project before the game ends). Just happened to an opponent of mine and let me win a game I should have lost
I just won my first in person game taking the worker at 2cp and my friends were very confused. I definitely still prefer the upgrade but if I have a project in hand I might think twice now
