Well, it is. It marks the border between the Val d''Ayas (Val d'Aosta, Italy) and Mattertal (Wallis, Switzerland). Thus, you can attack it either from Champoluc-St Jacques from the southern, Italian side, or from Zermatt, from the northern, Swiss side
