One last diesel journey by Konkan Railway's oldest train KR1/2 Mangalore to Goa Passenger/Express

- In 1993, Konkan Railway's first train chugged off from Mangalore and reached Udupi. In the years that followed, the railway line was extended till Kundapura, so was the train. Eventually, the train started running as the Mangalore Madgaon(Goa) Passenger and continues to do so to this day. It has always been powered by the chugging Alco diesel engines; first the WDM2, followed by the WDM3A/WDG3A/WDM3D.
Sometime late last year, Konkan Railway was electrified and this train along with several others were taken under electric traction, thus ending the diesel era. I undertook a journey by this train in November, one last time with an Alco powering the train and this video documents the journey in detail.
Unlike other videos on this channel, I have left the audio captured by the device as is just to retain that raw first person perspective with some wind noise.

Nice compilation. Sad to see the Alcos are being phased out from mainline duties and are being relegated to shunting duties. In a few years we will hardly see any diesels doing mainline duties. Hope IR will retain some diesels for emergency services.

I hope they have a special train hauled by Alco. Just for railfans !! I no longer crave to travel in trains after electrification and those shitty LHB coaches with namesake windows
