Years ago i would have loved to go trucking through europe and UK, a bit late for me now days, i'm due to retire next year but i still want to get back into trucking once my trucking friend (in swiss) get back to Nz and start our own trucking bussiness.... looking forward to see more of your european travels....

Nice to have you back . Great Vlog. I night drive in the Uk so having a Sat nav with live diversions is a must . Even then a recent run from Stockton to the midlands I had to use local knowledge ( B roads ) as the A19 / A168 /A1 /M1 were all closed at different points !! Feel sorry for the foreign drivers.

Hi Daniel, welcome back and a great and interesting Vid. Lets hope we get many more. I always found P&O to very unhelpful. but it's just take their money and sod the customer needs if 2 are on the same carnet. driving in Europe is civilised, the UK in shite.
@@KieranMonday most of the time we use p&o who only sail out of Calais. We did use dfds at 1 point and you could choose Calais or dunkirk whichever was more suitable but not sure that’s the case anymore as last time I sailed to France with dfds I asked if I could go to Dunkirk and they said no you’re booked to Calais 🤔
I understand some of the stresses you feel. Have not done it for years myself. But I miss it. Glad you are back. I learned to enjoy waiting at docks, but I nearly always had my GF with me, and some good books to read. Going back a few years, do you think you would have enjoyed your first Russian trip if you had had a bit more sleep?
I don’t think so. It was the hassle of having to keep everyone together and stick with the convoy. I like to do my own thing. That’s why I always said I’d go back with a smaller number of trucks. 18 trucks just way too many. Unfortunately that may never happen again, but atleast I can say I’ve been
@@d1986scott I liked being in convoy, but we were never in a rush and as abnormals had pilot cars and Ivan 'the fixers' escorts too. Would have been nicer if any of our blokes spoke Russian, or the (military in those days) fixers actually spoke English. We were only ever in threes at most. 18 trucks in one convoy must be a bit much, perhaps I was less independent (got more lonely) than you. At least you had road signs in Russia when you went. We kept getting lost and sitting at junctions while our 'fixers' decided where we were going. We were not allowed to look at their maps, lol. We once had a meet up with a crew from Edwin Shirley Trucking, who did the same sort of thing as you - big party that night, lol. But in those days, driving while under the influence was almost essential. Power to you Daniel, think your videos are brilliant. You got a big fan here.
@@allewis1905 mate I was here 12 years full time before I left last year. It was a tough decision because I was definitely attached but I really needed that break.
@@d1986scott plus I'm 60 now I served my time as a pipe welder I was overseas for years I retired at 53 well more like semi retirement I drive a tanker 2 days a week now but even at my age i get itchy feet ! I've just done 4 weeks in felixstowe as a favour it was great ! Great vlogs mate great stuff !
Ive caught ferry ⛴️ from felxstowe direct to Finland vir the keil canal nr hamburg then in to Moscow in 1993 delivery of Sony television 📺 5 times to Russia and all vir Germany travamunnda i loaded in France then unloaded center Moscow now retired interesting watching TH-cam your self no mobile phone no sat nav all with road maps plenty of memories
It has been found that women drivers have less driving incidents. It is thought without testosterone driving their emotions they are cooler headed and more prone to think of a solution while men tend to act irrationally at times. !
