What’s interesting to me is how much more _intense_ Tougou’s transformation is compared to the rest of the cast. Like, with the other characters, we see their major body regions transforming individually, with circle- and line-like burst of light appearing as they do, and except for Yuuna brushing her arm, their transformations lack other actions until after most of the transformation is complete. Tougou has a different transformation, with ropes binding her wrists, heels, and chest and forcing her limbs outwards. Her pose during the actual transformation is noticeably more intense, and she transforms in a single burst of light as opposed to part-by-part. In addition, her background during and after the transformation is noticeably different. It’s an unsettling mix of purple, blue, and red, and during the transformation it also includes whitewater-like streaks of white. Unlike other characters who have petals around them, Tougou has crystals, which form crisscrossing lines for much of the sequence. The start is also different. For other characters, petals cover the screen, then disperse to reveal the transforming character. For Tougou, the petals are instead crystals, and they form a wall in front of the screen. That wall is then shot full of holes, revealing an anxious-looking Tougou behind it, and the gap before the ropes come in is longer than the gap before the other characters start transforming.
It's a good remark. It very likely has to do with Tougou's past as Sumi Washio. Unbeknownst to her, she's already had plenty of Hero experience, and with a worse Hero System at that (because of what happened to Gin).
I think that there are really petals, not crystals, it's just petals of morning Glory. This flower has a white center so the petals are blue for outside and white for the center
A friend of mine introduced me to this anime, so glad she did Very shook that Karin has the same English voice actress as Sayaka Miki from Madoka Magica Uni from Hyperdimension Neptunia, and Yaten from Sailor Moon.

I'm pretty sure it was intentional. The creators of the Yuusha franchise have always been very precise and meticulous in the details and cross-media references. In the 1st season of Yuuki Yuuna (i don't remember where), there was even a very minor reference concerning a character from a prequel novel (Nogi Wakaba) that hadn't even started being published yet at the time... Meaning that they referenced something happening in the past no one knew about yet, that is very small, and now no anime-only would ever know unless they did intense research. The same reference was also there in the 3rd movie of Washio Sumi. (In case you're wondering, at the of the movie, when Tougou/Washio goes to her new house, there's a delivery truck outside with a raccon logo on it. The raccon is a reference to 1 of the two first ever Heroes, who really liked racoons and wanted to leave a trace behind in the form of helping people)
Geez all of these beautiful transformations, i wish Pony Canyon make movie adaption of Nogi Wakaba is the Hero(plus the extra chapter and Shiratori Utano) series and Kusunoki Mebuki series
The series is really good especially season 1 and season 2 Season 2 was tensing hardcore I don't even imagine about it...makes me feel like I want to watch it again So far my favorite magical girl in this series is yuna, Togo, and Karin

Because in Washio Sumi, after Gin's death, Shinju implemented a new Hero System (the one that also exists in Yuuki Yuuna) to prevent more deaths. That new system also boosted the weapons of Heroes; Washio/Togo got a gun and Sonoko got a stronger spear.

Isn't it the other way around? Mimori Togo is the real birth name of the character, and Washio Sumi was the alias she took while adopted in the Washio family.

Sonoko says that "the Taisha couldn't find enough Hero candidates among their own families, so they extended the search nationwide" and found Togo, who was then adopted in by the Washios, who had influence in the Taisha, but after Togo/Sumi lost her legs' use and memory, she was given back to her original family, as she was now as good as without any training or experience, and the Taisha couldn't afford losing a Hero again, especially not when Togo is both a Hero (can fight by using the Shinju's power) and an Oracle (can hear the Shinju's voice) and that sort of people (called "Messiah") are rare af as neither ability is a common one.

So... After Tougo's rampage... The "sange" was no longer implemented? Is that how is it? Is that why all of the characters are regaining back their bodily functions?
After Tougo learned the truth, broke down and the Vertexes almost destroyed the world, Shinju realized that the current Hero System was very flawed and had more negatives than positives, and so cancelled it. By doing so, any effects from that Hero System were removed: the heroes got their limbs back, including Sonoko, their immortality got nerfed, and everyone is back to just 1 fairy. Season 2 (Hero Chapter) answers all that.
The last 3 characters are from the first half of Season 2, which is the prequel story. I highly recommend it, and then Season 3, which connects everything together.

You’re not supposed to. The series is about girls losing their autonomy to beings that are passive observers; both the gods in-universe and the viewers irl. Especially Togo/Sumi, whose endowment is symbolic of how long she’s been at this hero thing, like how Mami’s design in Madoka Magica represented her veteran status. It’s thematically appropriate, while also being easy to look past.
I wouldn't go as far as "trouble differentiating", but after Gin's "fate", Karin received her terminal. That's why they both are associated with the red color and are both dual-wielders.
Sumi and Togo are the same person. Her real name is Mimori Togo, but she got adopted by the Washio family because of their history with Taisha and her high-tier capabilities as a Hero. You should really watch the prequel if you haven't already (which seems to be the case).
I didn't enjoy the series but I'm glad I watched the movies. It really filled in a lot of the things that were wrong in the series for me. I still don't like the slice of life stuff though.
Hmmm... For me, the slice of life actually made me like the show much more. Having all that "fluff" was in my opinion necessary to help us connect with the characters. If the Yuusha franchise was only about the action, I wouldn't nearly as much care about the characters I'm supposed to root for. And I think it was very well executed, both in YuYuYu and WaSuYu.
GoldenPincers Yeah I could understand that but I don't know, the slice of life stuff didn't mesh well with the tone of the rest of the anime for me. I feel they could have still done some comedy and cute stuff to develop the characters but I think the slice of life stuff dragged on a bit and wasn't executed very well, especially in the series. But I really enjoyed most of the first and all of the 3rd movie. The action, the transformations, the slice of life was all done very well. The second movie is where it kind of went on for too long. But the slice of life does make it unique from Madoka Magica and Magical Girl Raising Project.

Well, the 3rd movie isn't out until July 4th, so no need to rush. There will also be a TV series this Fall, where the first 6 eps will also cover Washio Sumi (like the 3 movies), and the other 6 eps will serve as a sequel to the 1st season.

So... After Tougo's rampage... The "sange" was no longer implemented? Is that how is it? Is that why all of the characters are regaining back their bodily functions?
After Tougo learned the truth, broke down and the Vertexes almost destroyed the world, Shinju realized that the current Hero System was very flawed and had more negatives than positives, and so cancelled it. By doing so, any effects from that Hero System were removed: the heroes got their limbs back, including Sonoko, their immortality got nerfed, and everyone is back to just 1 fairy. Season 2 (Hero Chapter) answers all that.

The last 3 characters are from the first half of Season 2, which is the prequel story.
I highly recommend it, and then Season 3, which connects everything together.

You’re not supposed to. The series is about girls losing their autonomy to beings that are passive observers; both the gods in-universe and the viewers irl. Especially Togo/Sumi, whose endowment is symbolic of how long she’s been at this hero thing, like how Mami’s design in Madoka Magica represented her veteran status. It’s thematically appropriate, while also being easy to look past.

I wouldn't go as far as "trouble differentiating", but after Gin's "fate", Karin received her terminal. That's why they both are associated with the red color and are both dual-wielders.

Sumi and Togo are the same person. Her real name is Mimori Togo, but she got adopted by the Washio family because of their history with Taisha and her high-tier capabilities as a Hero. You should really watch the prequel if you haven't already (which seems to be the case).

Of course they are. We all know that. But each "version" of Mimori has a different transformation, so both are featured. Simple as that
I didn't enjoy the series but I'm glad I watched the movies. It really filled in a lot of the things that were wrong in the series for me.
I still don't like the slice of life stuff though.
Hmmm... For me, the slice of life actually made me like the show much more. Having all that "fluff" was in my opinion necessary to help us connect with the characters. If the Yuusha franchise was only about the action, I wouldn't nearly as much care about the characters I'm supposed to root for. And I think it was very well executed, both in YuYuYu and WaSuYu.
GoldenPincers Yeah I could understand that but I don't know, the slice of life stuff didn't mesh well with the tone of the rest of the anime for me. I feel they could have still done some comedy and cute stuff to develop the characters but I think the slice of life stuff dragged on a bit and wasn't executed very well, especially in the series. But I really enjoyed most of the first and all of the 3rd movie. The action, the transformations, the slice of life was all done very well. The second movie is where it kind of went on for too long. But the slice of life does make it unique from Madoka Magica and Magical Girl Raising Project.
Justin Macabre Finally someone who understands my opinion of the slice of life not bringing much real depth to the charas and just fluff that serves no purpose. Such wasted potential, same with the ending as even Sonoko recovered from her illnesses, throwing all the sacrifices and drama to nothing

Well, the 3rd movie isn't out until July 4th, so no need to rush.
There will also be a TV series this Fall, where the first 6 eps will also cover Washio Sumi (like the 3 movies), and the other 6 eps will serve as a sequel to the 1st season.
