  • I often style my hair in a spiky way. And by this I've gotten the question, "How do you do your hair?". Well.. like this!

    Thick hair is actually really good. I myself has very thick hair and it aids me while styling the hair to stand up.
    But I get what you men with "not getting the spiked look". Try and use a straightener to make your hair 100% straight, this will also (hopefully) make it a little lighter, not thinner, but less tangled.

    Thanks! I managed to do it and it doesnt look bad actually, thanks for the advices, but i have a key to do it. ATTENTION To all messy curly middle lenght/long hair owners out there, after finishing doing the hair just like in the video, use Straightner again on finished hair, and straight it up again. Thats the key, it will look similar like in the video. Thanks again Tom!

  • @TomChiiron
    @TomChiiron  11 ปีที่แล้ว +42

    As I said in the video. I personally have some waves (or curls) in my hair. And to get them out and make my hair completely flat I use a straightener (as shown in the video). If you only have a few curls in your hair Im sure you can get it to stand up pretty good, but you might not get that "spiky look". I suggest you try making it straight with a straightener and give it a go.

    Put a lot of time into the straightening part and really get it straight. Make sure you are using a strong hairspray that dries fast. And don't spray that much, just a gentle spray and then work it in. Then of course, the longer hair you have the harder it's going to get to spike it. A blowdryer (like you said) is a great item to get the hairspray to dry faster. Also you can try backcombing your hair before applying the hairspray. Hope this will help you more on your way!

    Like I said in the video "style your hair the way Im going to show you later on", meaning that I got the longer spiky hair at 1:07 the same way I showed later on. So no, nothing more then fingers and hairspray (plus for me, flatten the hair first with a straightener).

  • @TomChiiron
    @TomChiiron  11 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Tho wax and gel are quite heavy and will most of the time weigh your hair down, especially when you use much of it. Hairspray keeps your hair light so you can basically use how much you want/need of it.

    i already got my hair cut just to get rid of the longness, but coloring and straightening is really not my thing.
    With a bit of honesty, i wanted to spike my hair so i can at least feel good in school 'bout myself. stupid, ain't it ? :P
    But i guess i have to wet my hair a bit, dry it with a clean towel, apply small amount of gel all over my hair and then straight them up. would that work...?

    • @TomChiiron
      @TomChiiron  10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      To do something small to yourself (like fixing your hair) to feel good about yourself isn't stupid. The only thing you should focus on is if it is you who wants to do it. No one but yourself should decide what you want to do with yourself.
      As I said in the video, the colouring and straightening is just optional.
      Tho I think it's hard to get it this spiky while starting styling when your hair is wet. And I personally don't think gel is that good either, since it whey your hair down. I would recommend to just try to style it with hairspray once it's dry.
      Hope this will help you somewhat and good luck mate!

      You shouldn't have to "excuse" yourself by saying "Im not gay". First of, there is nothing wrong with thinking that another human is good looking. And second cause homosexuallity should never be used as an excuse, cause there is nothing wrong with being attracted to the same sex.
      I take that as another compliment, thank you, tho Im not from Eastern Europe haha. I'm from Sweden so, north or the scandinavian part of europe. But almost right.

    aye man saw youre still replying on here so like i was wondering if you use (or used idk if you got your hair like this anymore) the straightening iron every day, my hair is super wavy and i would want it spiked daily (which the waviness prevents) but like i dont want to make my hair thin or make myself go bald faster

    • @TomChiiron
      @TomChiiron  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wasup!
      Well thats the thing, if you straighten it everyday you’re putting the hair on a risk of doing just that. But there are ways to help prevent the risk at least a little.
      I’m no expert in hair products, so I would recommend going to a hair salon, but it should be things like “heat protection” and also the shampoo and conditioner you’re using is important too.
      Not just because you’re straightening it everyday but also just in general for not putting bad things in your hair, cause that might make it bald/thin too.
      Hope this was.. somewhat helpful, haha. Have the best time!

    Hmm.. thats actually a hard question to answer, haha. I tend to cut the hair on the side and back a bit shorter then the top, cause it looks better for my skull type. That taking into consideration.. I tend to cut the hair on top of my head to about.. 4-6 centimeters and the other parts a bit shorter. That was perfect.. simple.. and straight forward.. skipped coloring though..
    if you can make a vid about cutting your own hair using clippers to achieve spiky hair would be great.. cant wait to see the vid int he future..
