    Thank you so much for your intelligent explanation of hormones balance. I am from the UK & although our NHS gives me estrodial gel they refuse me give me testosterone after total hysterectomy at 56yrs & hair falling out. So have managed to find a great private clinic run by Doc Newman who specialises & I am on a survey & feel fantastic 😊

    I’m 70 and was put on BIEST 10 years ago. Bleeding so started taking half prescribed dose so took 1.25 estrogen and no one ever took a level. (Wasn’t taking for symptoms just bones.). Asked for a level a couple years ago after watching TH-cam’s and it was 557. PCP (not the prescriber) said high but I’m supplementing so ok, another doc also said not to worry an NP said it can vary according to when taken so she wasn’t concerned but another NP said get off right away. Never had any symptoms of it being so high and I am quite sure it’s protecting my bones because I have chronic fatigue and don’t get much exercise. Broke femur 4 years ago hadn’t had a DEXA in 7years - was no decrease in bone density, it remained - 1.9 in the two spots of three and 2.5 spine. Switching now to an estradiol patch .05 as read taking orally when older have a very small increased stroke risk. A TH-cam hormone expert Susan Hardwick Smith said no one needs a 500 level estrogen - so different opinions on it. I just wonder why it is high as that’s not a large dose. I did recently have a week of vaginal bleeding so got an ultrasound doc said lining is thin ( 1.2 I think) so no need to get biopsy he thinks was tiny blood vessels of lining breaking off.

    Thanks for addressing this subject. I'm going to purchase your book today and study it before setting up an appointment.
    Random hormone related questions : is it true that you feel warm not only when your estrogen is dropping, but also as your levels go up?
    Do you believe it is safer for us to use the hormone creams below the breast area (or below the waist area) to prevent them going into the breasts?
    Does estrogen protect against inflammation? If so, would optimizing hormones help reverse problems that we tend to see in women around menopause (plantar fasciitis, frozen shoulder, fibromyalgia etc). Could you address any of these questions in future videos?
    I love your channel, thanks so much!

      i am so sorry you had to endure this. i have been there, they tried to say i was having panic attacks, was stress out, should do less, that i maybe had bipolar, or depression, was tested and it was negative, they still gave me meds to calm me down, i never took it and when i asked to check my hormones, they said my insurance will not cover that 😮 i finally found another doc who checked and my testosterone came back low, i was given vitamin d over two years and now i have gained over 30 pounds, sleep 0-4 hours per night.
      i am trying to increase my levels naturally but found a over the counter progesterone birth control pill and i sleep a bit better with it.
      i also lost over 10 pounds since i have been taking the pill… trying to get testosterone and still no luck…

    What causes the dramatic 10-12lb weight gain whenever hormones are started? Happened to me when I was on BC long time ago and now as I have gone on and off hormone replacement to get rid of the weight gain. I have decided that I will continue to fight the weight but why??????????? It is so frustrating. The weight gain is on the upper hips and inside thighs, again, not my normal weight gain area. I just need to understand why......please.

      It's because you have no estradiol not because you're starting hormone replacement therapy some people gain weight because they're appetite goes up it has nothing to do with the hormones themselves making you gain weight if anything user dial is supposed to help you to lose weight you have to be on a cycle of progesterone hormones progesterone is only to be Taken 2 weeks out of the month in the middle that's it it's on a cycle the same with estrogen it goes up and down like a normal cycle would

      BC pills can cause weight gain as can some forms of HRT. Are you using bioidentical or synthetic? Also, have your thyroid levels checked if you haven’t done so, because if you are hypothyroid, that could be part of the problem. I have been on bioidentical hormones for 16 years, and I haven’t gained weight. I also am hypothyroid and take thyroid medication for that. The key is making sure all your hormones are balanced.

      You have to test. .06 seems like a small amount. You start low and raise the amount as you go and then test to see if it's made a difference. Also monitor your symptoms and how you feel. Keep raising til you get where you feel good. I started estrogel in packets at .25 which is the lowest I could get.

      @@revealanation7778 You can try using a troche, which is like a lozenge. Or, you can search on line for a compounding pharmacy which will ship to you. I have done that before also. It is strange what you said about Progesterone, since it is known to have a calming effect and helps with sleep. And, part of the problem could be that your dosages aren’t balanced properly. You need to find a doctor who specializes in bioidentical HRT since many doctors simply are not well versed and aren’t up to speed on the current research.

    Ask a hundred people a question about hormones and I'll get a hundred different answers! I'm taking troches twice a day with Triest, Progesterone, DHEA and Testosterone. I've been told by my provider to go for my blood test 12 hours after my last troche, before taking the next one. Other people told me that's wrong, I should draw blood at the 6 hour mark. Which is correct?

    • @MaryBethMcCoy
      @MaryBethMcCoy 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Your levels will drop based on how many hours have passed since the last dose. That’s why you need to take the troches twice a day, every 12 hours. If you go for testing 12 hours after your last dose, your levels will be at their lowest. Testing 6 hours after the dose would give you your levels midway through the dosing schedule, which would show higher levels, and give you a better idea about how well your body is absorbing the hormones. I take the same hormones as you, troches twice a day, except I take Biest instead of Triest, and I used to consistently do the testing just before my next dose, but doing it that way never gave me any idea of how high the levels ever got, so I started testing sooner so I could compare where my levels were at various times during the twelve hour period. Just be aware that If you test any sooner than 6 hours, you probably would get very high levels. I did that once and tested only a couple hours after taking a dose and my levels skyrocketed and that freaked my doctor out until I explained what I did.
