Great content. I watched it yesterday and it got me back on track to take the exam next year hopefully. I started to practise the CMA during Covid but due to plenty of setbacks I stopped. After that, it was next to impossible to find the motivation to resume but your video pumped me up! I'll keep you posted about the outcome. Thanks my friend!
Very informative and thorough. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience, it really is incredibly useful to hear from someone that has gone through the process and seen results. Will definitely take your advice into consideration when I start prepping. Hope all is well, cheers!
I really like that you are not tied to educational programs for the CMA, so I trust that you are not biased towards it. One of the best videos on the subject, in my opinion. Great information. Thanks for doing it!
Hello! Thank you for putting together this video. I just became a member of the IMA and I paid the entrance fee for the CMA. I start my coursework towards the license this upcoming week and I am so excited to get started. I’m doing a brief prepping by watching CMA videos currently and you provide a clear representation of what a CMA is and where you can take it. This content is superb and totally hype for someone like me. Cheers,
Thank you for this video. I passed part 1 earlier this year, but failed part 2 and felt really bad about it. This has helped me in licking my wounds and work on what I need to do differently to knock out the 2nd one.
If you passed part 1 you can definitely pass part 2. It’s a very tough exam and many people fail. Don’t let it get you down. Just focus on the areas you didn’t do well and finish it. You’ve already made it so far and I promise it is so worth it.
I'll give you credit and appreciation for the work you did to present important information for the CMA. The reason I say so is because I want to work as a financial analyst and seeing how the CMA goes into analytics since data now is more valuable than gold, the ROI is positive. I'm still I'm college but starting this fall expecting to finish the last 2 years to gain my bachelors in accounting, I plan to network and find out how can I get a role working as a financial analyst. I don't know if it is a role someone has to work up to or if you can be hired as a financial analyst coming out of college? Either way, I'll join the IMA club soon🌟.
How do you feel about this certification for someone who is not even remotely in manufacturing? I've read it's highly geared towards that, but that just isn't at all appicable to my industry. It seems like it could still be beneficial though.
This certification is applicable in so many more areas than just manufacturing. There is a big emphasis on cost accounting which may be what you’re reading about. I worked in manufacturing for about 3 years before getting the certification and it was the preferred certification in that environment. However, my last 5 were corporate finance in retail and it was also extremely beneficial. Hope that helps.
Thanks for your question. The MAcc could be great in addition to the CMA. I would expect a person that pursues a MAcc to want to be on a mostly accounting track. Many people I’ve known to pursue the MAcc have been people that aspire to work in public accounting doing tax and audit or to be controllers or chief accountants if they are working in a business. The CMA would provide greater ability to pivot more towards finance and/or business leadership.
You have to become a member of the IMA before you can sit for the exams. You will only receive the certification after completing both exams with a passing score.
Hi! Sure! I started out in a Fortune 500 company about a decade ago as a financial analyst. Most recently I’ve worked at the Director level in a small business. In between, I worked as an accounting/finance manager. I’ve worked in manufacturing, construction, and retail. I don’t think I would have nearly the success without education like what’s included in the CMA.
@@travisscroggins615 you are probably correct but there are still a load of positions that require it despite the job description not really necessitating it. I may get it eventually but not until it’s absolutely necessary.
@@white_sheep_media_business I've been GM in restaurants for 30 years. Creating P&L's, budgeting, forecasting. Do you think that experience would count toward the CMA work requirement? I just earned my bachelor's in accounting.
@@travisscroggins615 I believe that it would. Those are all management accountant type activities. You’ll just need to provide some level of proof to the IMA but passing the exams is going to be the first thing to do.

The best video about CMA you will ever find. Very informative👍🏾👍🏾 insightful piece 🙌🏽
Thanks for your insight. There aren't too many videos relating to the cma. I think it interests me more than the CPA.
I’m currently studying for the CPA and I can tell you that the CMA was far more interesting. If I had to choose, I’d recommend the CMA.

@@white_sheep_media_business thank you! I appreciate the words of encouragement!🙂
Great video! All that you said I can relate to thus far in my journey.
I used Becker’s review material which I would highly recommend to anyone
Thanks, George! Glad to hear that! Also, thanks for the note on Becker. I didn’t know they had CMA prep but I guess I should have guessed they would.
I'm studying for the CMA now & I'm excited about my journey
It can really be a lot of fun once you get rolling! So much of it is immediately applicable and it feels really empowering! Keep us updated.

Hi Alex, glad you enjoyed it. You can be hired as a financial analyst out of college to answer your question.

Am working as a senior Accountant since last 10 years. Should I go with CMA first or CPA
Would you recommend someone also earn a master's in accountancy in addition to the CMA? Thank you for the great content.

I’m not a CPA but I am eligible. Just have to pass the exams.
