- To mark the week were we celebrated bonfire night and the stopping of the gunpowder plot, the story of one of the less well known plotters from near Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk.

In Sydney Australia , lies the World's largest remaining and operating Necropolis from the Victorian Era . Also it remains the Southern Hemisphere's largest cemetery . It is named ' ROOKWOOD CEMETERY ' . If one is severely hungover or extremely unwell , the Australian slang for this condition is ;. " I'm as crook as Rookwood " .

Excellent history from the county of my birth 😄😊😊 Religious persecution I guess never ends well. Your perspectives of Guy Fawkes are refreshing! Its a bit to me that we celebrate even today, the burning of the affige of the tortured Guido Fawkes, though clear he was a traitor but also a persecuted religious revolutionary. Anyway…..did you know….Coldham Hall is now owned by German ex-model Claudia Schiffer 😄😄😉

Got to love my ancestors... It makes me understand my family's strong Catholic convictions. I never realized that we were hated so badly. Being ignorant of a lot of the facts I mean. It is interesting to see how people like him and others changed the world. And so very sad for the native American people we could have learned a lot from them. Most were peaceful and would hold an alliance. It's really too bad that we lost so much knowledge by being so violent. I've learned since to learn to listen to the whispers. So much so they became louder than the surrounding noise. So here I am. Wonder what other trouble my family's gotten itself into. I've so far traced, by weebelling and wobbling up this grandmother to that grandfather, back to the 1100s.

As much as I can understand why Fawkes get the most attention I think he does take a bit to much of it. Like many things covered on this channel never heard about the local in school.

I hear that if you look you can still see some of the bullet holes in the walls from the fight but not sure if that's just myth.
@@alittlebitofhistory there are indeed,one of the servants named Gideon Grove escaped on a horse but drowned in a nearby bog. Ironically he wouldn't have been charged as he was a servant. Apparently he still haunts the area..
It was drawn, hung and quartered, not hung, drawn and quartered. They were dragged behind a Horse/Bullock and cart to the place of execution.

We've had nothing but trouble here since the Whitby synod A.D. 900 with them papists & HRH Charles Prince of Wales has been having just a bit too much to do with the Roman Fabianus mob lately for my liking. Boris Johnson married into them too. We're in the soup proper. Though I wouldn't know what to suggest we could do. As we appear to be back under feudal law.
You would have fitted in well with the bigots who were persecuting Catholics.
@@paulbrady6988 I was raised in Co Tyrone. Palatine German ancestry. Roman Catholicism is the epitome of bigotry. We used to hang & burn priests for good reason. Protestantism showed good people how to defeat the wicked two legged beasts by the book. If I were to see priest or nun I'd disrespect them on principle.
