Trudy, Those leaf reminds me of my late Mum.
She prepare this for us, i think it's red cocoyam leaf. My late Mum once leaves in Ghana 🇬🇭 with my Dad , that's where they got married.
In the 50s and 60s alot of Nigerians 🇳🇬 travelled to Ghana 🇬🇭 mostly our people from Bayelsa State. I love ❤ this video because its bringing back fun memories.
    From Bayelsa State Nigeria 🇳🇬.

Trudy when a man Loves and chooses you his people have no option but to Love or even accommodate you. Some will open up to you fast while others will take time.
What matters is your man and of course respect to the rest of the family above all when you acknowledge God in your relationship, you are good to go.
But you once told me since you don't have a mum or sister, you learn from others and you are never afraid to ask.
Go Queen ask all you want and that is how you learn.
The man who marries you will marry blessings.

Ghana is right in the center of the world ....we have the Meridian time line and the Equator line the longitude both passing through Ghana and the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. The sun is right in the center so we receive the heat of the Sun more then most countries. now you know, my history lesson is over.

Great video. You girls rock. The breakable "plate " that is sitting in the microwave is like a stand or support for a bowl or plate. You don't place the food directly on that breakable "plate". You place the food items (tomatoes, fish,.....fufu, rice, whatever you need to heat) in a separate bowl or plate and then you place it on that breakable. Then you cover it up and turn on the microwave.

Nkontomire is cocoyam or taro leaves and the green pea lookalike vegetable is called turkey berries. Yes Ms Trudy anchovies are a staple especially in the Volta region of Ghana. Welcome to the family.

Trudy, when you’re in Rome do as Romains do. You will be fine! I’m from Brazzaville the Republic of Congo, Christmas is usually for children. New Year is when we eat big meals. When My parents were alive, my family used to meet in my gd-parents village, we used to bake the all cow and steamed fish from the river, saka-saka ( cassava leaves cook with palm oil, oignons, garlic and smoked fish), and others veggies, fruits, manioc, bananas, rice with veggies. Self-Service for all , we used to invite friends. We dink wine, ginger jus and stamba (palm drink) and pineapple drink. We used to enjoy this food for three days or a week for some families. But when the war destroyed our villages and killed our gd-parents and parents no more party for New Years 🥲 Today we spend that time in a foreign countries, so sad.🙏

Be yourself, just learn the things they do. Dress beautifully and modest. You are Kenyan but you will not be in Kenya forever as your new home will be Ghana. So learn all the different *West African* foods so you blend in well.

Hi,lovely, pls, the safest way to thaw your food is to put them in a bowl and cover them with the microwave cover and then you will not stress yourself to clean. The glass plate is what rotates the bowl. Hope you understand my concern.

Just be yourself always and make sure you're presentable 247. One more thing you must learn that most West Africans love is RESPECT. Learn to respect while addressing your in-laws. Again, be yourself and never pretend at all.

@@faithkubaitfft1668 ohhh! Yesssss ... Once you sow that seed of respect, you will get a lorry load of respect back. You see, once you are not from Nigeria and you learn the culture and tradition and act it out in your own way, look, they will turn you into a demigod. They will pamper you with food and care for you generally.
But the moment you disrespect them, they tune off and shut down their spirit against you. Respect is like food, charlie.

I thank God I've already passed that stage you are in Trudy. I mean, learning to bond with your in laws.😁😁. Mine was more challenging coz my in laws only speak French and Lingala. So language barrier was crazy😂😂. We did two weddings, one in Nairobi Kenya and another in Kinshasa DRC. To cut the long story. I kept smiling until my jaw got numb,😁 especially when my mum in law was talking with me. Of course my husband was the translator. So you're better off Darling.😍
