Awesome, I was very curious what would be a good camera to use for Nighttime. I have a shoot coming up for a short film that is mostly around night time.
Hello friends, great video, thank you!!! I am looking for a camera especially for recording moving objects in the night sky (like satellites, UFOs, etc), and as I can see the Sony A7S is the best for this purpose. I'm a newbie and I need to make the right choice, as these equipments are quite expensive. Could you please help me?? Do you think the Mark I can do the job (to get a sharp and clear recording of a moving object in the night sky) or is it worth spending a few more dollars on a Mark II or another option? Or maybe you can indicate a more accessible option (it can be other brands or models)?? Thank you very much! :)
I'd say start with the cheapest option and work your way up! If it were me, I'd go with the Mk. I and if you find yourself limited, borrow or rent a Mk. II and decide from there if an upgrade is worth it. The main thing you'll have to crack here is the settings. Nailing the right combo of ISO, shutter speed and aperture are all going to be way more important than the exact specs of your camera IMO.
so i got the a7s ii was planning to do a parkour shoot night of course.. question when you filming night... would you use slog 2-3 or cine 4.. cuz i finding that slog 3 gives me a lot more noise at night ??
If you haven't already figured it out, slog wasn't meant to be used in low light. Most videos that you see on YT pushing the ISO really high were shot on the Cine modes. Nobody seems to mention this ever.
Love the bullet points at the end!
Amazing documentary.
class!! vid, love behind the scenes
Thanks a lot for the helpful advice..
That's an awesome video, thanks a lot for that! May I ask you why lens you used for the ISO tests ? Thanks again :)
Remarkable results. Do you still have the shooting rig? If not can you get one together again?
