- Known as the Battle of Nations, this epic Leipzig outcome forever ended Napoleon's empire. Special guest Nick Kramer joins the show to discuss this massive 3-day battle between Napoleon and the Allies. Leipzig was a massive 3-day battle and, arguably, has more importance than the Battle of Waterloo 2 years later. The death and casualty toll of Leipzig was horrendous for both Napoleon and the Allies.

Not Reichenberg I think he meant the Trachenberg Plan?
Where they went after the Marshals but avoided engagement with Napoleon himself.
Awesome episode thank you
Thank you so much! We appreciate the positive review.
Yep that is correct. Avoiding Napoleon and fighting the Marshals was the plan.
Britain could take some credit for Leipzig but lending money isn't very sexy. Great show and knowledgeable guest (as always).
You are too kind. Thank you, David!
Yyyyyyyeeeeeaaaahhhhhh!
Bluchers aggression secured the win for the coalition. Schwarzenburg nearly lost it for them. Leipzig is my favorite battle to study. So many dramas and where Marmont won my admiration.
Indeed. For once, Marmont probably outshined all of his fellow Marshals.
I felt bad for Schwarzenberg though, he died while visiting the battlefield 7 years after the event.
Thank you for this very interesting work. I particularly like the comment at the end about the Prussians being the real victors of Waterloo, I have not found this on TH-cam yet, the accounts I have seen all follow the mainstream British version. I don't know if you are familiar with this German publication from 1915: "Englands große Waterloo-Lüge zu den Jahrhunderttagen von 1815". I decided to order it since in 1915 it was very well received by the Dutch. There are massive differences with the British version and I will never look at Waterloo the same again. Some people seem to be obsessed with Waterloo, you probably noticed the "debate" on TH-cam about the absence of human remains. Some "historians" even try to rewrite this history now.
Agreed! Thanks for the compliments.
