For the dizziness problem people have: By repeating any spinning kicks, the head gets also used to that turning arround. So it is not a big deal if its hard in first place cause the body will adapt with the practice.
I was never taught spinning kicks but I learned to appreciate them when I almost got highlight reel knocked out with one in trail bc in the early 2000s . I ended up winning but I left this domain for a few seconds 😂😂
Now this was so helpful Gabriel and it was just perfect timing for me because I found that I get a little bit unbalanced on my spinning hook kicks, especially the left one and I saw I made the mistake of not keeping my head above my body when kicking and this really helped elevate my kicking game overall such an amazing video and keep up the great work as always! 🎉
Great video as allways! Could you make a deep dive video on the Andy Hug spin kick to the leg? It would be super interesting to hear your take on its applicability in mma, when to use it etc, especially since Brandon Moreno does it in the UFC. Thank you! Your videos are gold!
I like when people aim high but not too high when learning this. Balance and control is much easier to learn if one does not overestimate how high they're able to go while rotating
I found it surprising that you said to keep the head high. I felt that lowering your head allowed for a higher spinning hook kick, and moving your head down gets more force with your back kick. I guess one would benefit from first learning it head up and then developing head down for more power and speed.
Hey Gabriel could you do a video on how to defend intercepting counters for example a Intercepting cross counter to low kick or a body jab with head offline counters to a jab or a intercepting low kick counter to a high kick etc.. I like to use these counters alot but I'm wondering how to defend against them when my sparring partners use them against me. I know how to defend return counters but I don't know how to defend Intercepting counters.
The best way is to throw fakes and feints to bait responses and see what people do when they attempt to counter you. And then you counter that counter.
Thank you so much. I had a hard time with spinning kicks in the new kyokushin gym I go to. When I did Olympic style karate we didn’t do any spinning technique practice. Any tips for the tornado kick? I always have the hardest time on the second kick in the air coming with my shin to the side and always end up rotating with a straight leg capoeira style in class.

Great video. May I ask, would you add some example scenes from a boxing match, to add more visual content if possible?

My best kick is a spinning side kick. Love it.
I ko my friend with spinning back kick when sparring.
I guess it was spinning back kick, not side one.
