Yeah, I've often said that Orgy is one of the few bands from the whole "Nu Metal" scene/era** that really still holds up musically in my opinion. It doesn't sound dated at all (ironic considering they took a lot of influence from 80s synth pop) - Really, part of the reason they still sound modern is probably because of the strong influence they took from 80s new wave and synth pop, rather than going for the rap rock sound most of their peers were doing.... Hell, they were a bit ahead of their time with the new wave revival stuff, now that i think of it - considering bands like The Killers later took that idea and ran with it. Candyass and Vapor Transmission are still usually in my phones mp3 folder. I did fall off after they kinda strayed from that synth guitar sound with the third album though. But it's really a shame they're thought of as a 'one hit wonder' (and even worse that they're considered a one hit wonder who's one hit was a cover song - their original work is great) if people remember them at all. ** Note: While they didn't really sound like other nu metal bands, I include them in part cus they were on the Family Values tour, and had significant fan overlap with that scene. Nu Metal was always a sorta nebulous genre anyway - some Nu Metal was rap rock, while other stuff was more industrial (Orgy, Static-X etc.), grunge (Godsmack etc.) or groove metal (Coal Chamber, Sevendust etc.) influenced.
You should checkout the whole album and Punk Statik Paranoia…actually ALL OF THEIR SONGS. Anyways-it’s great to know they have new fans finding them. Like their song says: “welcome to the odyssey”

@@Thymus"Nu-metal" doesn't really have a distinct sound. It was just a broad label given to all alt-metal/heavy bands that came up or were big in the late-90's and early-2000's.
@@davetheimpaler204 Yes and no. Adema is a perfect example of a band that got labeled Nu-Metal because of how their singer sounded. The dropped that label on the third album after they dropped their singer.
This could be a mixture of live vocals with a backing instrumental track, it is really hard to tell, but some of the vocal parts do sound a lot different from the album version. I will say this though. I saw them live during the Candyass album days and they sounded almost exactly like the album, it was pretty impressive.
The audio doesn't match up with the video sadly. But you can hear some backing vocals here that aren't in the original mix of the song. It sounds like they're amazing live. Able to recreate their studio sound.
I saw them at K-Rockathon 2001 I think, it was probably for this tour. I turned into a total Orgy fangirl after seeing them live. I didn't think it possible but their live performance was even better than the album! I *believe* they had a DJ on top of all the live instruments and vocals. I mean, they *are* industrial lol.

I was already a fan of orgy before seeiing this performance. I remember seeing this on tv and to this day when i think of orgy this performance always pops in my head. I remember getting this CD and putting it in my dads car and he said the start of the song sounded like robert palmer addicted to love... good memories. I really wish the original line up would reunite and do a tour for old guys like me who are now in their late 30s
I've listened to the studio cut once if I've listened to it a thousand times. There are so many differences between both vocal tracks I'm not sure how a hardcore fan could call this dubbed. I'm singing along, and like happens when singing along to live tracks, I'm hitting different notes on many parts. Its definitely live.
its not live dude. jesus. they might have done 20 takes and mixed three versions before they had this, do you see the fans reaching for the guitar but not actually touching it? or do you see like seven fucking hundred other obvious other things? when he slaps the mic to grab it with his other hand, that would destroy everyones ears. you are one of the normal people who eats fast food and wears phyzer t shirts.
