@Jaydaydesign everyone is different on this. For me, I start with one, and if I get stumped or have something I need to figure out, I start another. I have three I'm working on currently, and a ton of ideas written down pretty much everywhere. You'd be surprised by how many ideas can be combined into one story sometimes. Getting it down on paper is the hardest part. I wish you all the best and hope this helps a little. 💙

After researching what the highest paid professions were... I came to the conclusion that it was Sales, Marketing, Consulting and Speaking. I've been wanting to move away from trading time for money for quite a while now. This is why I want to sell things online - physical items.
The job I'm at now; though it can be exciting, exacts quite a bit of wear and tear on my truck, gas, the chance of getting in an accident; especially at night during the winter on very icy roads. We just got about a $1 per hour raise; which is nice; but it limits me. I can get more work done; but not be paid for the extra work that I do. I go in there, and have all these ideas that could possibly make the business run better, make it easier for the employees to train and make more money. But, I don't make the decisions. Even if I were a manager; I still wouldn't be able to make those kinds of decisions; so there's this ceiling that ; and not only that; but even if I stayed and managed to get promoted... it would be years or even decades before I would be trusted with that kind of responsibility. Thus, my creativity is limited mostly on how I wash the dishes and deliver the pizzas. Not THAT exciting. Other than risking my life out on the roads; it's pretty uneventful, but stressful.
I seem to average about $60 per 6-8 hours, in tips; and then making something like $11 per hour for my salary. So, in 6 hours, if I'm lucky... I'll make about $120.
I've been thinking about that number; and I've been thinking about how hard, and how much mental taxation I go through, the lack of being able to be creative in a way that would move me powerfully forward, and how even the environment... the people aren't who I seem to mesh well with. How, much sleep I've lost; and how my nutritional lifestyle has gone way down hill; because of being surrounded by fast food so many hours per day. I've been thinking that if I got good at finding and selling things that are valuable online... that I could make WAY more. I'd still be putting in quite a bit of time... but the skill sets I'd be building could be scaled way up.
Imagine for a moment, that instead of selling a chair or another piece of furniture... you were selling specialized medical equipment, or a car, or something very valuable. The same time that you would spend, practically, on the chair, could be spent on researching the more expensive item... taking pictures or video would take the same amount of time; and as long as you learned the art and science of marketing your stuff well... that would take about the same amount of time, as well. You might have to sit on items that are more expensive; but once they sold; they would be selling for 10X-1000X more than your chair, or some lap top or something.
This is what I'm envisioning... learning to sell ordinary things that I already have or can easily just find that are being recycled; and then take those developed skills and turn them toward more rewarding items.
For instance, you may spend 6 months to a year, trying to gather together the information, communicate with potential buyers, set up the meetings, find the perfect home or duplex or apartment complex to sell; but once you did... you could make $250K. Of course, you could work on 3 projects in the same amount of time and make 3X that amount. The key seems to be focusing on skill sets that you will enjoy learning for a long time; and that will be highly rewarding.
At the moment, it is winter, and VERY cold; probably the coldest it's been this year and last; and I have few leather jackets that I don't wear that often. I was thinking about selling each one for about $80. Say, I sell all 3 in 3 month's time... that would mean that for just a small amount of work... I would make $240. I know it doesn't sound like a lot; but once you get better, you will find those things that you are able to find easily; which sell quickly for a decent profit. MOST of that time has to do with your item getting noticed and then that person responding and you guys finally meeting up and exchanging the item for money. This means that in 3 month's time... you could pretty easily get to the point of selling 100 items; rather than just 3. The keys are to streamline the process, and make a decent profit, keeping the process going.
This is one of my major plans for 2023.
