Let me know what you think! Did I level up? What else could I do for better shop organization? Be sure to check out more of my workshop projects here! bit.ly/40fW7tZ
WoW!! Just wow! For someone who has never built a cabinet or drawer before, you did a terrific job. I really do love seeing the younger generation getting involved in a time honored traditional hobby. I think you made a great choice for a miter saw. With the slide bars in front it saves a lot of room, plus you have the reputation of a great Japanese Company behind it. I subscribed based on this first and only video of yours that I have watched. I look forward to more of your content.
From you first comments, I did not think I would pick up any new ideas, but there were several good ones, like the saw holder. Drawers look like they were made with someone more experienced in cabinet making. Well spaced. As a serious wanna be woodworker, but very experienced TH-cam watcher it is fun to watch shop re-do's. Not bad at all is the old saying.
What a great project. You knocked it out of the park. This will make your whole shop experience better, every day; it will be a joy to use and really steps up your game. Well done.
So many genius makes!! I'm so glad I found your channel. As a plus for me and my friends almost all of your makes could also be used in a craft room. Just genius! I've always wanted to build stuff and be a wood worker, now I can't wait to get started!
Your re-do is excellent, well thought out. You brought some great points on the french cleat wall with locking the holder down and the saw holder is very cool. The cabinets are beautiful.
I bought the same saw miter saw a few years back. One of my favorite purchases for quality and space savings! And way to go on the miter station! I went with the Kreg miter system for the measurements. French cleat walls are a must. Nice addition!
Lovely builds! I've been using French cleats for a few years and they are amazing. One thought though: if you make any tool holders for your French cleats that are a bit heavier, you may want to reinforce the wall cleats with screws as well!!
I so need to build an organized garage wall - bless you, woman! Will follow your lead. Will subscribe and am looking forward to more inspirations. We ladies appreciate your very achievable work!
This weekend I'm planning on getting rid of the peg-board wall and replacing it with a French cleats in my shop. Thanks for the tips. I made a battery storage cabinet this summer. The chargers are on the top which slides down when I need to charge a battery. I have Ryobi, Milwaukee and Makita chargers and I find it funny that Makita never thought of adding key holes. I ended up forming some blocks around it and holding it down with paracord. I think I'll check out that Etsy store for the Makita charger holder.
Brilliant!! I love your shop. I’ll be starting my new miter station soon so I like what you did for storage and tool wall. Thank you for sharing your ideas.
This was a fun build to watch. It's always exciting to set how others use and improve their shop spaces. Thank you for sharing. You did a great job making the Alm design suit your needs.
Oh this is absolute heaven here. Thank you so much for this. I’ve been watching many different videos for a good idea on my small shop setup and this is absolutely perfect. Thank you very much for sharing this.
This is really awesome. You really made a functional station that is also really nice to look at. I saw Michael Olm's miter station build and after watching yours, I'm pumped to build mine. I got my first double bevel, sliding miter saw this week and I'm going to incorporate many ideas I've gotten from both you and Michael into my build. Thank you for posting this video. It's helped bring my creativity level up to 11. Subscribed
Wow, that came out great! Im definitely going to steal some of your ideas! I am in the planning stages of a new woodshop inside my main shop. Super nice build!
That saw holder is a great idea, Although I came here for the miter saw station, as this will be my next workshop build, once I've finished the small projects I have already started.
This looks great. Night and day! I’m still struggling with my original shop furniture that I pieced together as a beginner woodworker. I know it’s time to upgrade.
Your shop sounds like mine! I finally got fed up and I'm so glad I took the time to upgrade. I'll be much more productive going forward... and it was fun :) Thank you for watching!
Subscribed!! Great well thought out workshop build. Particularly like the simple but very effective french cleat lock (definitely going to be adding this into my build) cheers
I feel like you should consider making a power tool station for your chargers. It seems like they taking up a lot of space. Or it’s not being utilized as good as it could be.
This is awesome - I just got the same saw and am looking to build out a miter station like this. Quick question - did you need an adaptor for your Festool hose (I assume its the 27mm) to hook into the Makita dust collection port? Looking at mine it seems to be a real weird size! Anyhow - looks awesome!
I actually bought an adaptor on Etsy but ended up not needing it! My festool hose (27mm) surprisingly fits right into the dust port perfectly. Thanks so much for watching!
Great job on the mitre saw station. It looks like I have the same mitre saw, and dust collection is less than ideal. How have you liked your setup and if so do you have any tips on setup?
The last miter saw I had had zero dust collection, so moving up to this one seems like a dream! It's pretty good but not as great as I expected. I've got mine on my Festool Midi, which is great but I'm wondering if I might need something stronger. I saw that Shop Nation is coming out with a 3D printed DC solution for this saw soon. I'm very interested. Thanks so much!
This looks really excellent! I particularly like the French cleat wall. What type of plywood are you using there? I’m in the UK and I don’t think we have anything other than birch ply (which has its supply issues and high cost these days) that would be suitable for cabinet building and look as nice as that. Most ply we have is just construction grade.
Thank you very much! I did use birch ply, but not baltic (the best stuff). The ply I bought was a step below that but still nice for cabinets. It's easy to find here, although no ply is priced inexpensively anymore. I hope to keep this station for a long time so I didn't mind paying for it. Thanks again!
Love your set up. I’m thinking about buying the new Makita 40v 12” miter saw. Do you have the 12” or 10”? Also, how deep do you need to make the cabinets for that saw you have?
Thanks so much! The old screwdriver holder had some holes cut for different tools I dont use anymore. I wanted something that fit my current screwdriver setup a little better and I had lots of scraps to use. Easy fast build :)
What about glue storage? I currently have mine stored on a flip cart due to it being in the plans I bought however, it seems to occasionally interrupt workflow
Good question. I dont have a great glue storage option yet. I have seen some french cleat options that look great but I need something a little bigger. For now, I have mine stored all together in one of the storage cubes under my big workbench. Works well for now.
No plans from me as this is all Michael Alm's project. But it was as easy as modifying the saw cabinet height for the height of the Makita instead of the Festool. Super easy. I hope you build it! Works great with the Makita. Thanks!
USA here..Wow....I hit the bell n everything..and have 'never' received a notification for any of your vids....ohhh well...I'll just slink back off to my corner😥
I love Michael's Alum woodworking, the way the toe kick is made has been around for decades. I'm amazed that you tubers think that other you tuber makers just " invented " common practices that pros' have been doing forever.
Happy to help! They're mostly all from Home Depot. I believe the two biggest organizers are Dewalt. And the smaller black organizers are Husky. They've all been great and I just built the shelves to fit the organizers. I hope this helps!
@@MakerGray Awesome. Thank you! I did find the Husky ones and actually found some at Harbor Freight. Can't get mad at cheap organizers. Thanks for your time and your reply!
Your tool holders are really cool but it seems like you could just screw them to the wall rather than using French cleats. I guess I just don't get French cleats.
Thanks! French cleats are a stronger mounting system. The load is spread over a larger area. But my favorite part is how adaptable they are. All of the tool holders can move around and reconfigure as I add more. And if I decide I don't want one of the holders, I simply lift it off and there are no screw holes to cover. Hope that helps!
another workshop organization video, just what the world needed. I'm looking forward to see the mandatory pocket hole and epoxy table videos too. nothing original nowadays.

Thanks for the shoutout! Great videos and great organization! I'm glad you were able to use the saw holder too!
Thanks so much Jared! Your saw solution is so good!! Appreciate you sharing!
Looks very nice! How deep are the drawers (vertically)?
I’m going to build everything you just showed lol, looks fantastic.
I love hearing that! Thanks so much!

So dope
Love your set up.
I’m thinking about buying the new Makita 40v 12” miter saw.
Do you have the 12” or 10”?
Also, how deep do you need to make the cabinets for that saw you have?
Thanks so much! I've got the 10" Makita corded. I love it! The cabinets are 2' deep and its the perfect depth for this saw.
That saw holder is genius. On the screwdriver holder why did you remake the whole thing as opposed to just attaching a clear to the old one?
Thanks so much! The old screwdriver holder had some holes cut for different tools I dont use anymore. I wanted something that fit my current screwdriver setup a little better and I had lots of scraps to use. Easy fast build :)
