Really cool! I visited Joe's shop a few times since I lived near. He was a great scale modeler; now out of the hobby. He did an aluminum KingCat that bit the dust when the booms failed because of delamination of the composite. Then BVM came out with the carbon reinforcement plates and reengineered the booms. Joe actually let me get my first turbine experience at his farm with an ARF model of the KingCat. Super cool for a 17 year old kid at the time. I think the owner of the model is forgetting years since the KingCat didn't actually come out until the early 2000's. Anyway, cool to see a MetalCat flying again!
Not sure. When everyone walked up to the plane, Mike touched one of the flaps and it jumped closed. The servos felt very weak. Ron is going to troubleshoot. May be the flap servos or power. Haven't asked to see what they found.
What a great story... Thanks for sharing.. Amazing plane and great example of what can be made with skill and patience...

I had some questions about the kingcat, I’m getting my dads kingcat ready to fly
That one isn't mine... Wish it was!

who was flying it?
I think Bruce said it in the video. Michael L. maidened it for Bruce.
The KingCat wasnt sold by BVM until 2003, the first year it could be purchased. So no way it was built in the early 90s.
Thats just what he remembers so dates may have been wrong
Apollo Field..!!!???
