    My Grandmother had a saying, "you dig your way to Hell one teaspoon at a time." By which she meant that God is more interested in your anonymous daily actions and intentions, rather than your big, public actions.

      If my intentions were my actions I would be a Saint ! The Apostle Paul said, The things that I hate, that do I, and the things that I would,I do not. Oh wretched man that I am. We need to learn how to walk by faith. For all things are lawful for me but not always expedient. For I could eat meat offered to idols because I know that idols are nothing. But someone who's faith is weak, I would not eat that meat in their presence. For I would cause a brother to fall. Let my good be not spoken evil of. God bless.

    Of all the channels that I’m subscribed to, I enjoy OTLE the most. This particular subject Curtis is talking about is so fascinating. About how different Spirits ‘delight’ in good or bad things, which then in turn is the deciding factor where they live, Heavenly or Hell realms.
    As this is a fairly long video I’m watching it in parts, I’m about 45 minutes in and I’m so interested. I’ll probably finish watching this one tomorrow. I love to hear about the spiritual world and how Spirits live.

    i once was very sick with pneumonia and had an out-of-body experience in which i found myself to be in a perfect state without any pain or fears. i felt very old and very wise and accepting and loving everything. from that state i could think of or ask whatever i wanted and the response would appear in front of me in a flash. i started thinking of two of my best friends and they appeared in front of me, but in a kind of transparent form. inside of them i could see areas that contained blockages. one of my friends had a blind eye, and although he is not blind in this life, i sensed that it was an energetical blockage which meant there were certain things in this life he couldn't grasp or understand. then i focused that attention on my own person, and i myself appeared in front of me and i could scan myself like i was made out of glass layers and intricate energy connections. i saw that i had some blockages around the left shoulder and i knew intuitively what kind of psychological complications they contained. and i knew some of the things i had to learn in this physical life were connected to those blockages. but while looking at myself i realized that it all became too real and i didn't want to know too much about myself or what was in store for me further down the road. so i snapped out of that state and found myself in my body again, experiencing again the pains of fever and pneumonia.
    this happened over 20 years ago and had never heard of the theories of Swedenborg. now im curious to read his material. as i see he talks of similar things.

      @@offTheLeftEye yes it was indeed an amazing experience, and yet it all felt quite natural while it was going on. that perfect state i was experiencing felt well-known to me and matter of fact. and this experience removed the fear of death in me as i felt deeply that what awaits us is only love and acceptance. and that all the little things which now seem so troublesome in our lives mean nothing in the light of that love i felt in that state.
      i have had several of these types of experiences over the years because of long years with yoga, cleansing and meditation. and as i got older (am 52 now) i backed away from that life because it was going too fast for me. i often didn't feel ready for those deep revelations. i felt i was neglecting my physical and social life which is all part of the greater balance. both the physical and the spiritual go hand in hand in my view and we must be strong in both.

In other words, God doesn't even have a life because to be omnipotent means there's never any change in your perception, which is essentially like living as a stone. You choose Heaven by choosing to believe God and his word, which unambiguously teaches that Jesus Christ is the only Savior and the only way to receive justification (forgiveness of sin). You choose Hell when you deny God, by denying your conscience which he gave you to remind you that you are fallen and that you need to be redeemed.

    I love your channel and I love your shows! I have listened to this show several times and I am trying to use it to make sense of my own life. I am not perfect, but I have tried to be a kind, good, generous person. I help others and do now want anything in return. I have always been pretty humble as well. I am a high school science teacher. A few years ago I won a really prestigious award. It should have been a blessing and an acknowledgement of my dedication and hard work. It has turned out to have ruined my career and has broken me. My school is not a normal place. I work in the south suburbs of Chicago in a very poor urban area. My administration is very inept and corrupt. They have treated me very unprofessionally since I won the award. One of my colleagues did something very bad over a year ago. The district held an investigation and believed it was me. They had no proof, so they passive aggressively punished me for the past year. My colleague knows that I know he did it. He never apologized. He is very prideful and condescending to many because he has a Dr. He has told others that I need to just get over it. The others do not care either that I am being treated unfairly. So I feel like I am in my own hell. I do not want to go to my job due to the anxiety, I am deeply deeply hurt that people just sit back and allow injustice to occur. I want to feel happy, but I can't. I want to learn from this and get closer to God. I feel like I am rock bottom, but I didn't deserve it. What should I do to turn this hell into heaven?

      I'm so sorry to hear about these painful struggles you are going through. I wish I could tell you exactly what to do, but I cannot. Hardships come to all of us in some form or another. God does not bring the hardships, and yet God can bring good out of the situations (learning, growth, and strength) if we allow it. It sounds like there is some envy going on amongst your staff. It seems you have a choice to either see how you can continue to work there, and to rise above the negativity, or to seek another job in a better environment.
      An important thing now is to try to proceed with spiritual integrity. If you have been unjustly treated, be careful not to descend into a desire to seek revenge. Anyone who has done wrong to you will have to face the consequences eventually. So, instead of revenge, see if you can seek justice and fairness. See if you can find a way to make clear what is true and what is not, as far as you know, and to seek support to correct unfair situations. Don't get caught up in trying to "make" people believe you, because you can't control what others believe or what others think of you. Try to only be concerned about what God thinks of you, and seek justice as best you can to make your work situation useful, productive and fair. Again, if this just isn't possible, you may have to seek another job. But if you are willing to patiently keep trying, it is amazing what can happen if you respond to people with patience and integrity. That can sometimes eventually make people turn around and "do the right thing."
      Again, I'm so sorry for this hard situation. Keep praying to God for strength, and for God to open your eyes to see the possible steps you can take. God bless!

      Ask God to help you take an honest look inside yourself each day. See if you notice lower-ego reactions taking over in situations that happened that day. Then, don't get caught up in shame, but know that God is helping you see something so you can break free of it. Small realizations and small steps will lead you in the right direction.

    Excellent show and very informative. Good that you had the courage to touch on people being gay. I am a gay man and I find Swedenborg's teachings don't promote hatred to me or my LGBTQ community, which is so refreshing. Love is the predominant teaching as God is love. A lot of us just want to live out committed, faithful relationships with love, with our same gender, as we cannot find the other gender attractive. We are born that way. No matter how much we try there is no other way. To be told we are cut off by God as some teachings say, is cruel. There is so much love and so many good people in the LGBT community doing good acts every day, allowing them to connect to God and Christ too can only be positive.

    Im a little confused as to ES's many discussions about hell. I would assume that if he loved the bible as much as portrayed that he would have known that the word "hell" comes from another language meaning "hidden place" but is substituted, out of context, for other Hebrew and Greek words. ie; Sheol, Gahenna, tartarus.
    The other thing I noticed is that he seems to often turn everything into a spiritual analogy. Things like the return of Christ and the plagues in Revelation. So why would he not just take the idea of hell and turn that into a metaphor as well?

    • @angelgirldebbiejo
      @angelgirldebbiejo 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      if you want to believe in a hell, do it. No one is stopping you. Hell is lower vibrational levels, not the biblical hell that man portrayed to control the masses back in the barbaric days. If you study with a Rabbi you will see how they mistranslated many things and it all makes no sense and what was put in was for the greater control of Rome who finally accepted this new idea of a new religion which Paul put together.Basically birds of a feather flock together, make sure you like you as there will be many LIKE you on your level. If you don't want to be in the lower levels then build up your spirit man and do good, learn to love EVERYONE and forgive EVERYONE. When you have done that , you will have learned the reason for being here.

    There is no hell, not what the Church teaches anyway. What we think of hell is here on earth, seeing loved ones die and being separated from them. This does not mean one can go about living a bad life. No, if one suffers before dying, God looks out for you and welcomes one home. He sends beloved family members for you to ease your passage.

    John 3:3 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
    2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
    3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
    4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
    5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
    6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
    7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
    8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
    9 Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be?
    10 Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?
    11 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.
    12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?
    13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.
    14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
    15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
    16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
    17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
    18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
    19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
    20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
    21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
    1John 5:11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
    12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
    13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

    There are always others who interpret Jesus's teachings. Swedenborg is simply another in a line of many. Why not simply read the words of Jesus Himself? God gave us a mind so that we could think for ourselves. The words of Jesus are easy to understand. His message is clear - love your enemies, feed the hungry, clothed the naked, visit the prisoner, care for the sick. He performed miracles, never hated, never lied, never stole, never murdered. In a word, He was SINLESS. He died on the cross for our sins, rose from the dead on the third day, and ascended to heaven to be with His father. He also promised to return again. Jesus said, "I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the father but by me". Are these words so difficult to understand or believe? I don't think so. But still, people continue to listen to the words of other mere mortals, sinners themselves, never performed any miracles, never died for anyone else's sins, and certainly never rose from the dead. That Jesus actually did such things, and yet, people still give others greater reverence than Him, is beyond me. Why not simply give reverence to the words of the Son of God, Jesus Christ Himself? Believe in Him, follow His teachings, and you will be saved. What He did on the cross is sufficient to pay your our sins. Following His teachings is the evidence that, in our heart, we truly believe in Him. Keep in mind, even John Gotti believed Jesus existed. But in his heart, did Gotti TRULY believe in Him as our Lord and Savior and that He was the Son the God? What's more, did he follow His teachings? Obviously not.

    As i'm well-versed in the writings of Emanuel Swedenborg.After reading 'Heaven and Hell' in depth,I can conclude that entering Heaven is not a game or by chance or by mercy.For God is law,the fundamental nature of God is law.The form of God's Divine Mercy to us in the form of his Divine Truths,and we follow these we become worthy to enter heaven.There really isn't any punishment in relation to Hell,because everyone is in the state that belongs to them,that belongs to their ruling love.
    Secondly,I find it quite satisfying to know that during the three stages of being in the spirit world.What differentiates angelic from hellish people,is the purpose,and intention behind our actions.That is how God and his Angels determine whether one is guilty or guiltless.If you really think about it is actually quite just to say it is our live that determines whee we go.There was done spirits to desire to go to heaven,and God doesn't deny Heaven to anyone.However,when one is in the enjoyments of hell(hated,hostility, vengeance,love of self),heaven becomes tortuous to some people,because of the opposition of their lice to heaven.
    Unfortunately,I do not think we are taught enough about how we should focus on having clean intentions,as that is the life force of our actions regardless of whether they appear good or bad outwardly.However,Jesus did teach that one can enter Heaven unless their righteousness exceeds that of the Phrariaeees.Which means we should focus on being inwardly righteous,good,honest,fair and truthful,as these are the only kind of people that can enter and do inhabit Heaven.
    Finally,with having this in mind,unless one dies prematurely,this early life is really a training ground for heaven.I found it a bit scary when he stated that repentance is impossible after death.For in the spiritual world we become our love,and we can cannot act contrary to our love,for that would be the destruction of our spirit itself.However,knowing this makes me pray to God to give me the power and strength of will to abstain from doing evil.And to make me inwardly righteous,honest ,pure,and fair,for then my actions and deeds are genuinely good

    I just want to say a huge thank you to Curtis and the Swedenborg team for bringing this in such a brilliant and accessible way. I'm only 2 weeks in to learning about Swedenborg's teachings after seeing one of the shows quite by 'accident', I'm loving it. I have read a lot of Rudolf Steiner's work (who I understand was a fan of Swedenborg) and I'm finding lots of parallels. I have a couple of questions then: firstly, I have seen no mention of Rudolf Steiner in any of the info around Swedenborg, he did appear in a later time but was a fellow 'mystic' also bringing much to us from the spiritual realms, do you ever connect the work of these two men? Also, what does Swedenborg have to say about reincarnation? I am so new to this so maybe I just haven't found it yet but so far this feels like a huge subject that is not getting mentioned. Thanks again, loving how accessible you make it all Curtis.

    One could look upon the digestive process, after being born again spiritually, as ''spiritual sanctification''. We are justified, sanctified, glorified and so all good 'nutrients', spiritual food, are absorbed into the ''heavenly- body'' and all evil bad nutrients, carnal food, non-digestable are eliminated into the hellish-body ie the colon.

    As we wake up to the truth, we learn that if we use electroculture to grow our broccoli, we can enhance the life energy to a greater extent. We can also charge our water with electroculture so that we can begin to use our astral faculties with greater success. When I charged my water for the purpose of drinking it before meditation, I noticed that after a short time I could turn on the inner cinema at will and I also had a lot of lucid dreams. I could also see more of reality than I usually would, like expanded colors and energy. Very interesting.

    • @FAPPJAPPDAPP
      @FAPPJAPPDAPP ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I had eyeless sight and could see with my eyes closed, so I had to stop because it was disturbing when I had to sleep, I could still see the wall with my eyes closed and I had to check it by touching the eyelids with my finger. It was strange. I wonder if the protocol I developed caused this phenomenon, together with my desire and the help from the angels? I used the following techniques; charged water, grounding and looking at the sun at sunrise and sunset while thinking of love, meditation with focus 10 of hemi-sync with head pointing at north, positive thoughts and love for everyone, and the effect came after 10 days or so. I also asked for help to know the answers in every meditation. I also got regenerated in that period and my mind became very silent and it still is, I think it makes communication easier, to be able to listen. Just a little inspirational anecdote to follow up on my previous post.

    • @FAPPJAPPDAPP
      @FAPPJAPPDAPP ปีที่แล้ว

      Also a blue orb came for a visit but I didn’t communicate with it because I became a little scared that night. Haven’t seen it since but maybe it’s because of my current limited sight as I blocked the astral sight due to the disturbance described earlier, or due to the fact that I stopped with the protocol? My plan now is to repeat the protocol once again, as the answers lies beyond just like Swedenborg realized. It takes courage though, but the Lord is waiting for us to begin with the communication once again just like in the old church, to know the truth, to become communicative once again, that is my current belief. We can become communicative again by recharging our bodies with life energy which is all around us, we just need to enhance it a little, just like in the old world, that is what we need to do, to eat and drink properly, just like we used to do. Electroculture and meditation goes hand in hand and will make us able to love more and use our faculties to communicate with our higher self, just as we used to do.

    You mentioned not needing to be a Christian to go to Heaven. Do you think that perhaps you should change your view to not needing to be a Christian on EARTH to go to Heaven? The process of casting off the indigestible pieces so that only goodness remains seems to be the process of becoming a Christian (if "Christ follower" is the definition of a Christian). Once only goodness remains, it seems the resulting spirit would be a Christian in every sense, no matter what other religion they previously followed. And I don't think this possible occurrence contradicts biblical teaching in any way.

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, exactly. People get caught up thinking that one has to belong to an earthly Christian organization, or declare an earthly Christian belief, when Jesus actually says that all people who live by the kinds of principles that he teaches are connecting with him. The connection happens through the kind of life that is lived, not by the intellectual beliefs. So, no matter what earthly religion they practiced, they will be connected with the Lord in the afterlife, who is indeed the one who brings everyone into heaven.

    My take on the spirits from hell that you show around 44:00 is that they are demon spirits (angels who fell) who are in charge over a certain level of hell who have subjugated people who are burning there, and they are lying and saying yeah, it's great down here. Check out the video where the teenage Israeli boy describes his translation to heaven and was shown the judgment process and how bad hell actually is.

    I listened to several of your videos about Swedenborg so I think I understand the basics of his teaching. We all have good and bad. What you do while on Earth amplifies the good or bad that exist inside you. At death we go through a process of purification which separates the good and bad that exist. We chose which one we are most comfortable with and that is the level at which we exist be it Heaven or Hell. Swedenborg emphasizes the need to do as much good while on this Earth as possible. The problem with this teaching is that it eliminates the need for faith or trust in the finished work of Jesus. At our core we are all corrupt and incapable of doing good on our own. I know Swedenborg thinks that God does good works through us and that is true, but those works can only be attributed to God Himself and not to us. Our salvation only comes through faith or trust in Jesus Christ.

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, Cliff, all goodness comes from God, and we are his instruments. Believing in that, while still acting "as if" on our own is the formula Swedenborg describes. Doing as much good as possible while we're here is just us trying to align with God and serve his ends. It's not taking any credit.
      You do seem to have a handle on "Swedenborg 101," and you're not alone in being uncomfortable with that last part you mention. Rather than the idea that "Jesus died for our sins," we see it as Jesus LIVING to save us. Swedenborg was shown that the power of hell had become so great in the world that God came down into an earthly incarnation to allow the hells to approach him (because nothing can approach Pure Divinity Itself and survive) so that he could defeat them, put them back in order, and restore spiritual freedom to the human race on earth. It's a different take! So we don't see it as the Son dying to appease the Father for all of humanity's sin, but rather that God himself ("I and my Father are One") came to sort out the balance of spiritual input from 'above' and 'below.' THAT was his finished work, according to what Swedenborg learned.
      In my experience, it doesn't do away with faith or trust at all. Every day I'm working on trusting that the Lord God Jesus Christ is with me and working through me, and that he loves and cares for me and is drawing me heavenward. Every day I'm dealing with being in spiritual equilibrium, and working on choosing goodness and love rather than self-centeredness and control.
      So there are one person's thoughts. Thanks for joining the conversation.

      @@offTheLeftEye Thank you for your reply. It is nice to have thoughtful conversations and exchange of ideas. • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Freia -- I answered your similar question under another show. One important feature of Swedenborg's world view is that no one is "condemned" to hell against their will. We ourselves choose the location of our homes in the spiritual world. In one place, Swedenborg says we just go where we can breathe. We go to the place where the outside environment matches our inner environment -- where our ideas and interests and loves are reflected outside us. This is what the process immediately after death is for -- to guide us on our journey of shedding what are merely earthly concerns and focusing on what are our deepest spiritual concerns. Whatever choices and experiences do not fit with our genuine heart-of-hearts are put aside, and we become "all one thing." There are indications that this becomes a permanent state, but again, it's something that not all readers of Swedenborg agree on. Perhaps you'd like to read "Heaven and Hell" by Swedenborg, available for free download from www.swedenborg.com. Thanks for your questions, Freia -- we're always open to more!

    You say when we die ( It dosn't matter what background ) The Angels are there to greet us. ( and we feel there love pouring out to us ) Then you say we either go to Heaven or Hell immediately. I'm confused a little bit.

      Sorry for the confusion. It is not immediate, it is gradual. We need to sort out those parts of ourselves that are still mixed with good and bad. Here is a video about the process. th-cam.com/play/PLgtFTXGqZdSngp4_pz7VaYnlWzl2-tEcS.html

      Oh, I (Karin) just replied to your other comment, but I'll put my response here, too. Yes, that surprised us, too! Curtis did a couple of episodes about that, and the links are below. It's a blessing to have you revisit our channel, Donna! 💖
