Inverter based drive are great.. only if build with good quality.. because low cost drive use dumb diode rectifiers which make power factor poor up to 0.5 0.6 ... So it's going to nightmare for grid.. . So government should impose strict rules regarding active Power factor correction & harmonic filter in any power electronics devices. Otherwise energy we save in rotor loss will lost in power lines & Transformers.

He is correct in smps(switch mode power supply) 230v Ac is converted in 230v DC and that DC is chopped using chopper circuit and pure DC is converted DC pules which is around 150kHz and supplied to ferrite core high frequency transformer and step down to desired voltage and capacitor are used to convert pulseting DC back to pure DC 😉

i am using kirloskar 7.5hp 3ph motor 8pole. with 15kw vfd.
the size of 8 pole motor is same if we compare 4 pole 15 hp motor.
