Hey Steve! Great video, very nice summary of the year and I'm excited for the content in 2024! Wanted to add that I've added some fantastic bottles to my collection this year and your tasting notes have definitely helped me appreciate Rum more and understand some of the intricacies and differences between Rum that I assumed would be similar but from different countries. Thanks again and hope 2024 continues to see your channels grow! 🍻
Hey Steve 😎 loved the video. Cheers for portraying your passion on rums and handing out so much valuable information, couldn’t rate you more. Happy new years 🥃🙏
I've noticed with some whiskey, the lower proof stuff is much more woody, while the higher proof stuff adds much more complexity, I imagine that's partially why the doorlys 14 is more to your liking than the 12
Hey Steve. Watched the full video and loved the end of year review. Definitely need to get some Goldstone Rum I'm my cupboard this year and reallumy intrigued by the Worthy Park as well. Hope you had a great Christmas and Happy New Year.
Maybe one day! Remember, they're just 2 people with a tiny distillery. It'll take years to get to the levels where they could service even 10% of the UK Market, let alone export worldwide.
Hey Steve, great vid as usual. Will def. try out the worthy park select (Excited to use in Rum Old Fashions) and rhum jm volcanique. Unfortunately cant get Havana Club
Ha. Someone else said this… basically it’s a deffo No No. I have no knowledge of Whiskey, and there’s loads of dedicated Whiskey Channels. A) I’d just get too much abuse from Whiskey Lovers 😂 (B) my channel just wouldn’t get round cos of all the competition.
Wow! Great episode watched the whole thing 😎, I appreciate you spending this much time with us. Time flies when you’re drinking rum 😂! Cheers 🥂 🍹mate and mahalo!
Hi Steve 👋 Great video covering a lot of ground with really useful info. I know what you mean about Doorly's but for me it works REALLY well. Especially that 14 which I adore. Which is odd because I generally prefer white rums and clairins... perhaps Doorly's is close enough to whisky that it's in my (whisky) comfort zone. It's the rums in the middle of the spectrum that are no longer fresh and punchy while also not yet mature that I have a problem with. Cheers for the video 🥃
Cheers for watching 👍 I just like my Rum to taste of Rum that’s all. 😇 As I say a lot. If I wanted to taste Whiskey, I’d drink whiskey! So for me it’s all about 0-7/8yo stuff or blends that do have higher age in them, but predominantly lower…like the Havana SDM.
I really enjoyed this longer form video Steve! It's nice to sit and have a couple at the end of the day and enjoy a video just like this. Hope you had a nice Christmas and I'll be looking forward to the upcoming videos in 2024. Have a great New Years! 😎 Hey Steve 😂
Great round up of the year, Steve. I managed to get the WP select in early December, and i am looking forward to comparing it to Xaymaca soon. I have now got WP 109 as well and think i prefer the Jamaican rums to the Barbados i have tried so far. I also have a dram of Hampden 8 on its way to compare.😎
I don’t think they’re being cagey. I think they’re quite open. I just can’t remember what Johnny and Steve said. But I’m 95% sure it’s what I said…Fiji and Papua New Guinea. In fact I’m 99.9% sure. Just not quite at 100% cos now I’m doubting myself! 😂. But I deffo backing myself it’s not Single Distillery. In fact…I’m talking myself in to going 100% sure it’s Fiji and PNG. But I could be wrong… so let’s settle at being 99% sure. 👍
Thanks Steve. I asked them on Facebook and they said it's from a single distillery, 100% pot stil, 3yr topically aged at the distillery…but won’t say more than that.
Great stuff, in terms of the RL Seales stuff, we get both the 10 and 12 Year in the US. The 10 year runs about $30-32usd at Total Wine, while the 12 Year is a bit harder to find and runs about $55ish
Ha, A lot do…cos it’s pretty much the only/biggest “chain” “off license”…or I suppose “online Liquor store” in the US. I bang on about Master of Malt in a lot of Videos, here in the UK. Total Wine is the US equivalent. However to non Us people reading…in a lot of states, you can’t purchase across state lines. A US person can an elaborate more… and this is only an example to give an idea (may not be correct states)…but if you were in Florida, you couldn’t buy online from somewhere in New York. That kinda thing.
Hello Steve👏. Cool video. I can't wait to try this Cargo Cult. I finally tested the Australian rums (Velier 10 years and Plantation) and I admit to being impressed by their quality.
Yeah, I wish I could get more different Jamaican ones here in Norway. We don't have many options. We used to have a lot more but I guess maybe they don't sell as well since they don't get more in.
Yeah we used to have more Jamaican but as they sell out we don't get them in again lately. We do have a lot of Rum in general though from all the different islands etc. @@StevetheBarmanRumReviews
Xaymaca is actually a little higher in esters than Smith & Cross (tested at 147g g/hl) with the Xaymaca coming in at 156g. Comparitively, Worthy Park Select only comes in at an estimated ester content of 60-120g/hl, which is still pretty decent (certainly compared to Appleton). So with the body Worthy Park brings to the table plus the modest funk, I think it's the absolutely perfect Jamaican! I do not like the Hampden though, to me it tastes like ashes...
I would actually love to start a Whiskey Journey…but the competition and knowledge from the US guys would make me with my minimal Whiskey knowledge absolutely pointless. Plus here in the UK. There’s plenty of Bourbon, but only Big famous Brands. Scotch dominates.

Interesting theory. Maybe. 🤔 👍
Hey Steve 😎great video. Loved the review and looks like I am getting some new rums for my collection
Thank you! Let us know what you get.
@@StevetheBarmanRumReviews just ordered some Rhum JM. Can’t wait to try it

Hey Steve. Watched the video to the end. Please keep the fun content coming! 😎
Much appreciated! Happy NY
Hey Steve 😎 love the long format
Thanks Tom 🥳
Thanks for the bookmarks! I can watch a little bit here and there throughout the day. Cheers!
Thanks! Took a bit of effort 😂 but once I’d done the first sliding bar, the reset were easy to replicate!
Hey Steve! Wish we could try those Goldstones over here in Canada. 😎

Hey Steve…..made it to the end.

Definitely a whisky channel would be good scotch and bourbon...

Ooooo. Thats a great 4 way comparison.
What a monster of an episode. Looking forward to watching all of it. 👍
I don’t always agree with your notes, but we’re on the same page about Barbados! 😎
I'm here for the disagreements...but, you'll ALWAYS be wrong... 😉😂 Except on Barbados being dull and boring Rum... 😇
Hey Steve, fantastic video! I'd love to see your take on multi island blends.
Just need to do more research to see what’s available here and in the US 👍
Seems like multi countries/islands would be a good, finally series.
I feel most of the offerings in the US are multi blends.
Just gotta work out what’s available here in UK AND in the US as well. Theres so many that the US has that we don’t get in the UK and vice versa.
Cargo Cult are being quite cagey about the country of origin for the Navy Strength. It’s single distillery but they won’t say where.

For me, not been massively impressed with Aussie Rums. But Fiji…WOW
It's true that they are interesting too, but I'm going to test others to get to know them better.
We get both the RL Seale 10 & 12.
As a newer sub, what a great way to catch up. Also, Hey steve
Welcome my friend 👍
Yeah, I wish I could get more different Jamaican ones here in Norway. We don't have many options. We used to have a lot more but I guess maybe they don't sell as well since they don't get more in.
That’s interesting! I thought you Norwegians had pretty good Rum supplies.

Hey Steve! Made it all the way through😁
Thank you,🙏
Anywhere selling those Tiki mugs?
Don't think so. Branded Mugs normally don't sell, unless someone gets one and is desperate to make £10 from it! 😂
Hey Steve, if you’re ever gifted some Smith & Cross, feel free to send it my way 😎
Hahaha. Weirdly it’s a Jamaican brand you hear absolutely nothing about…but then I suppose cos it’s so famous, they don’t need to Market it. 🤷♂️
Why not make a blend of the two Doorly's?
❤
😎
We get both of the R.L. Seal. I'm still here about an hour in.
I had to come back and give this to show I made it this far. 😎.
Haha. Thank you 🤩
WP Select is 31.69 EUR over here and is in my 2024 Q1 basket 😎
I’m massively confident you’ll love it. If there’s one Rum I’ve tasted that has broad Mass Appeal…it’s this one.
