I did this hike today! But I only got to the first Gem Lake as I was too tired. Still, a great hike! Cold in the morning, but temps in the 60's in the afternoon. Glad I started in the morning, seeing the rising Sun's light on the peaks and the air so clear. I spent the prior day at Mammoth Lakes to get acclimated. Happy Hiking! Andy
That's freaking awesome, Andy! I bet it was just a perfect day in the Sierras today as it always is in the beginning of fall before the first big snow dump. Happy you got some crystal clear views up there! 🏔
My favorite part of the country!! I love the Eastern Sierra so much. How do you deal with bears? (for safety. Bear spray?) that is the one thing that terrifies me about hiking up there. Awesome video and hike, Jamie! If you could post more often, I am sure your channel would really take off, the footage and narration is so good :) UPDATE: forgot to add, good luck on climbing Mt Whitney! can't wait to see that video
@@milesandhikes Alex! Thank you, bro!! The Sierra range is picture-perfect and one of my favorite places to explore in this country! 🤩 When it comes to bears, I don’t really give them much thought if it’s black bear country. I truly believe it’s mostly a mindset when you’re out there. Black bears eat plants and berries. They’re like snakes in that they don’t really want anything to do with you unless you come into their territory. I carry bear spray most of time for extra safety. But, I did not on this recent trip in the sierras because I had to fly and you cannot carry it or check it so that means I would’ve had to buy it. I took the risk so I didn’t have to spend the $60. But if my gut instinct was scared, I would have. I think the more you’re out there and experience things, the more you realize it’s rare to see one much less get attacked by one. Grizzly country is totally different. ALWAYS HAVE BEAR SPRAY. They don’t want too much to do with us either but if they’re hungry, they do see us as an option. 😁 Keep educating yourself and watch videos! Helps a ton! Truly appreciate the encouragement! I do as much as I can on here and hope to continue to stay consistent and build the channel while also maintaining a full time job. 🙏🏼 I love this stuff so much. Thankful you checked out this video and channel. Hope my comment helps! 💪🏼
@@JamieMcCracken Thanks so much for taking the time to type such a long answer! Yeah that makes total sense about bears. I think it;s more the fear of encountering one because I never had yet, than anything else. And happy to hear that you're planning on growing the channel. I also have a f/t job so I know how hard it is sometimes (people think it's just shoot and upload when in reality it's like having a 2nd job) But YT is awesome! such a cool plataform, and also to connect with like minded people.
What a brilliant scenery my friend, epic hike! 👌👌
@@ervinslens Ahhhh, thank you, Ervin! Thankful you enjoyed this one! Love, love, love the Sierra range! 😌
