Precision Gear from Alloy USA are the Strongest gears. The ones that look nickel in color, means they have been properly heat treated. Motives are Oil Quenched, to be lower priced. Genuine Spicer are also a great budget choice.
I will do it on my dana 30 from jeep wj,there should bd cast steel C's .Which welding metod would you use ? I cosidering mma with nickel or stainless sticks and preheat it before, or mig with co ?
I believe nickle sticks should be the best fit as long as you have the proper penetration. If the weld fails, your wheel will fall off so you need to be careful.
@@NightWrencher it's not terrible mostly bolt on with the exception of a needed spacer for the unit bearing... and most guys put them on d30s.. this d44 would be a major upgrade but would also require a different t case due to outputs being on opposite sides.. or use these outters on a Ford hpd44
@@NightWrencher swapping tubes from side to side presents its own set of problems.. like the centerline of the pinion shaft in relation to t case output imo the Ford hpd44 is a very good candidate for a xj platform as long as the additional width is acceptable. I'm currently cutting down a waggy d44 to wide track cj width for my 84cj7
It already had an 85 CAD axle. Those have weak housings. Plus I wanted to add the extra caster. Drives great by the way. No steering stabilizers needed.
I don't agree about those axles being weak I've owned the $89 Dodge w150 truck and it was almost new when I bought it it's the toughess mud slinging truck I've ever seen I have never had issue with the four-wheel drive or axle issues
They are known for bending at the cast section of the CAD when pivoting off of rocks. Also the the disconnect is weaker than a solid axle. Its well documented if you want to look it up.

I havn't seen them but I'll be sure to check them out!

Those outer knuckles actually are the same pattern as a jeep cherokee.. they would be a good swap for an xj
I've seen XJ guys run WJ front brakes by swapping the knuckles but idk what that entails

You could also flip the ends to make it work too.

@@ericmuhlbeier8023 you dont wanna see the centerline from my r150f to dana 44 then 🤣🤣🤣
I would have just swapped out the whole axle for a 89 w 150 axle it would have been a lot easier install springs and all

Wow 10 deg ? Wow your steering is gonna be useless. Wow.
Lol what? I've been daily driving it for months now. Nice solid steering with my 6 inch lift and 35 tires
Check out my instagram for some vids of me offroading it. It only works because of the lack of caster in the dodge axle.
