Michael López-Alegría has over 40 years of aviation and space experience with the U.S. Navy and NASA in a variety of roles including Naval Aviator, engineering test pilot and program manager, NASA astronaut, and International Space Station commander. He is currently the Vice President of Business Development for Axiom Space, and has been selected to command the crew of Ax-1, the first fully private orbital space mission in human history.

Hearing Dom and Billy explain Toy Story to an astronaut was not something I knew I needed in my life
would love to see Sean Astin joining the show and having a gamer talk about there experiense of voice acting in the lord of the rings games there been in like battle for middle earth or return of the king or just talking about league

honestly, this is one of the best episodes. i love that there's no gimmick behind having Mr. Alegria on the show - just two people super interested in what he has to say, asking the type of questions I'd like to ask and having their minds blown.
As an italian, the 'Billy and Dom eat the world' made me suffer a bit (we don't put pickled things on pizza because you can taste only the pickled stuff if you do, as Billy noticed), but in the end it was worth watching just because I love these lovely people talking! I really love this podcast
At fist i too thought it was with vinegar and thought it was strange...but its not the classic giardiniera in aceto di vino bianco that we know here in Italy...Its an americanised version from Chicago with just oil and a pepper in it that is not even italian...Its probably more like a condiriso, a misto sott'olio,fantasia calabrese or farcitura sott'olio and a little bit of It can go on pizza because there is no vinegar..Its probably tastes like the carciofi we put on our capriciosa or the funghi and melanzane sott'olio we put in our panini.they shouldnt of called it giardiniera in the first place because its confusing.

There is a local dessert from my neck of the woods called "Spättekaka", often pronounced "speddekaga", meaning "spit cake", because when its made, it's kind of woven onto a metal spit like a kebab. I'm not sure you can get it in the states, but its a traditional thing in the southernmost county in Sweden, Scania. It's made almost exclusively out of eggs and sugar.
In these days of isolation, there's nothing better than something to have fun and learn from, and the best is The Friendship Onion! 🥰❤🇧🇷
This comment isn't relevant to any of the subjects talked about in the podcast but here's what I'd like to say: It's so awesome to see the friendship between the two of you and know where it came from. To last all these years and see how it's so fulfilling to the two of you is so heartfilling. (is that a word?)
It reminds me of something William Shatner said when someone asked him what the best thing about Star Trek was for him and without batting an eye, he didn't say "the money" or the "the fame", he said: "My friendship with Leonard Nimoy." That's the sense I get from you two :)

Billy NEEEEEDS to watch The Expanse! Best Sci-Fi space show you've never heard of. Amazing character development and emotion, set in a fascinating political landscape and largely rooted in science. The best of Star Trek and GoT rolled into one. So good! I'll try to tweet at him so he sees this 😂

The expanse is incredible. They worked wonders with cgi and sets and costumes and everything considering it wasn't originally like some big time show

Their friendship is so pleasant.
I adore the socks that hug the center of the foot. When we walked and walked in Italy one summer it was like my feet didn't know they could rest. I put on the "hug" socks and it totally worked.
It completely hornswoggles my mind that anyone could EVER confuse Dominic with Billy, Merry with Pippin. You both are exceptional individuals, INDIVIDUALS: as actors, as men, as the characters, etc...it must be, that the people who mix y'all up, just don't pay attention to films in general. Caviar and champagne: completely different but a stellar combination and pair so well together; I can't get enough of the team! Shalom!

Cant get enough of these FANTASTIC podcasts. I would like you show us something to try in the food part from Scotland..or Try kirks Red creaming soda ,Milo ,vegemite or TimTams ..these are all from Australia ..Very unsure if you can get them there in America tho.

I'm with Billy on the greatness of Bombas! They've been my favorite socks for years and I've gifted them to so many family members. My grown children expect them at Christmas. I second Billy's recommendation of them!
This is already the most delightful podcast.
Real Giardiniera is an antipasto, you eat it with bread or grissini. It has a sort of tomato sauce as its base made out with tomato paste, vinegar, garlic, etc. It's something that you keep a ton of in the cupboard for when you need it, just like canned food or Jam. (No, Jalapenos are not endemic of Italy 😄)

Recently I’ve lost the abilities to taste food and feel smells due to COVID-19 and at first I was very upset cause, you know, I love delicious stuff😅 But now I can just listen to how you eat and describe the food in detail for your listeners. It’s as if I can feel the taste again. Thank you✨

I've loved every episode of this fantastic podcast, but that astronaut interview was especially fascinating. Do you suppose the buttered cat paradox is still a paradox in space? Can a cat even land in space, on its feet or otherwise, and does butter have any gravitational pull?

Like Billy, I love to hear Scottish voices on film/television. I've been to Scotland 12 times during my service in the US Navy. My first submarine operated out of the Holy Loch, near Dunoon. While I've never been in outer space, I do have more times under water than all of the fish I've ever caught combined. You might look into submarine life and discuss the "alternate lifestyle" that we, by necessity, adopt while at sea.

Love this podcast! I was listening while driving home yesterday and I was really hungry after work. I've had Giardiniera when I've visited Chicago on some hot dogs/italian sausage but I didn't know that's what it was called! I went right to the store and picked up a jar of it and some sourdough bread. Had it for a snack and breakfast the next day, I love it!

I'd just like to say what a well done interview with some fantastic questions. In depth, but non invasive with full time for a response. You guys could interview anyone and make it a great learning experience. I'd definitely enjoy like at least a monthly scientist guest, any field any expertise.
