The first person I heard espouse your side was my late pastor, RC Sproul. Not only had he seen the linguistic evidence, but he'd also spoken with enough powerful rulers to sense it. It's not some ancient tale. Demonic powers behind human government is current reality.
But he never talked about it without adding, “But greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world."

    Thanks for this
Its like many things in scripture
If you simply read the text, in context, and even more or less grasp the authors intent, you have to be TAUGHT that it means something different
And then ignore a lot of evidence contrary to your belief
Over my 40 years of walking as a believer, and having gone through bible school in 84/85
I always, and still do, tell people:
    Read the text
For faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of GOD
Renew your mind by the washing of the water of the word
By reading the scripture, you hide it in your heart and the HOLY SPIRIT brings it to your remembrance as its needed
Strange how people put more weight in what their favorite teacher says than in what GOD says
I have read cover to cover about 15 times
Old testament only about the same and NT about 50 times
    Its my favourite book
And every time i read or listen to the audio KJV i learn something new
Dr Mike, you clarify questions i have, often, but my getting faith and wisdom is from the WORD
I store it up in my heart so that its there when " HE the HOLY SPIRIT will bring all things to remembrance..." and " HE will teach you"
Please know we are praying for you. The body of CHRIST needs stable people like you to teach without pushing doctrines and beliefs but simply open the word as it is written
    You are a blessing
    Please keep on keeping on
    Heads up
    Eyes open
    No fear

As a young Christain back in the 1980s in college, I understood that passage as speaking about supernatural rulers. I did not have any commentaries. I used the NIV version of that time. I accepted Christ in a non-Charismatic church that taught that the gifts of the Spirit ceased. They did not teach on that passage. But it seemed obvious to me that these rulers were divine.

It makes perfect sense in light of the following scripture verses.
    1 Peter 1:12 KJV
[12] Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.

[9] And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: [10] To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,
Satan had no knowledge of the hidden wisdom of God, otherwise he would never have possessed Judas to betray the Lord.

Or, as Paul wrote under the Holy Spirit’s inspiration to the Corinthian believers in the earliest letter we have (2:6-8)…
Yet among the mature we do impart wisdom, although it is not a wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are doomed to pass away. But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for our glory. None of the rulers of this age understood this, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
They were ‘hoist with their own petard’ by God’s masterstroke… they had swept aside the significance of substitutionary atonement…. And it was THAT which proved their undoing. The Lord of Glory not only died in our place, thus freeing us from the power of sin inherent in us, but He also loosed the bonds of Death and rise victorious over it… no decay attacked His flesh! There days later, He appeared in flesh and bones that were free from any taint of decomposition or degradation due to Death’s power!
We inherit this glory because of His substitutionary death and resurrection…. The spiritual forces that are ranged against The Most High God’s purposes for us cannot touch us!!!!

Genesis 6:3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
1 Corinthians 15:45-50 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.
Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.
The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.
As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.
And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.
Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
Genesis 4:8-10 And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper?
And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground.
Hebrews 11:3-6 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.
By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

It seems the term "rulers" or "arconto" could mean human or spiritual. That word choice wouldn't necessitate either interpretation. The note of Paul saying "they would not have crucified the Lord of glory". Most clearly the Pharisees and the Romans, still maybe could be demonic influences behind them. But in 9 he quotes "What has seen, heard, imagined what God has prepared for ". He has people, not necessarily angels or demons in his mind in each instance. I like Dr Heiser but it feels like he is forcing it with saying the "rulers" are clearly demonic, Paul could have made that much more clear than the word choice if he did have demonic in mind. I feel the demon view diminishes the human actors blindness which it seems Paul is focusing on.

This is a tricky one. It could be supernatural rulers or human rulers. I say that because in the next verse, Paul quotes a scripture which pertains to man, not angels. “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, Neither have entered into the heart of man, The things which God hath prepared for them that love him.”
    ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭2:9‬ ‭KJV‬‬
If Paul was saying the supernatural beings would not have crucified the Lord if they knew about God’s plan…..then why would he quote a scripture which makes reference to God’s plan not entering into the heart of man?
But on the other hand, God’s plan of redemption through crucifixion was beneficial to mankind; not to the fallen spiritual rulers. So if they knew crucifying the Lord would defeat them and empower mankind, they would not have inspired men to murder the Lord. So perhaps the rulers are supernatural beings.

I think there's some sort of misunderstanding here, or something. You said, ""So heiser's presupposition that the Prince of Persia is a supernatural being . . . " This sounds like you don't believe the Prince of Persia was supernatural, hence Heider's interpretation of it is wrong. Further, men cannot withstand angels/supernatural beings in battle, particularly for 21 days! And angels most certainly do not need to call in Michael for reinforcment. (And I would suggest not using Jacob's wrestle with an angel as an example of men withstanding angels; that account is clearly more than what has been given us, in that men don't wrestle for hours with others, and the angel seems to have given up a regulations wrestling matched, causing bodily damage instead to Jacob's hip.) “Is it not written in your Law, ‘I said, you are gods’? If he called them gods to whom the word of God came-and Scripture cannot be broken- do you say of him whom the Father consecrated and sent into the world, ‘You are blaspheming,’ because I said, ‘I am the Son of God’?

@@michelhaineault6654 I see you conveniently skipped out on Heiser's (and many others') breakdown of the "Sons of God" usage in the Bible. Spoiler - it pretty much always refers to angels, especially in the Old Testament.
When Jesus comes that changes, because we take the places of the angels who abdicated their positions.

Boris, I don't think you are wrong in this view. If Dr Heiser's (and others) cosmology is taken as sound, which is a thing many people accept, I find a very strong reason to see this as an exception or a variation. Insisting Ps 82:6 (as distinct from v1) is referring to a divine council removes all the power from Jesus' answer to the blasphemy charge made against him. Note the specific charge laid: "because you being a MAN, make yourself God". Jesus' answer is a refutation of this charge, pointing out the (rare) occasion when MEN are spoken of as "gods" (elohim) in scripture. In which case doing that could not be held to be blasphemous. If that verse was actually referring to beings normally entitled to be so addressed, Jesus' response carries no weight at all. He would merely have said "here's a scripture where gods are called gods".
If we look for what Jesus described, those "to whom the word of God came" being referred to as elohim, we find it at the giving of the Law, after the Ten Commandments, Exodus 21 & 22. The judgements set before the people were to be administered by judges (elohim) 21:6, 22:8 & 9, and said judges were not to be reviled, 22:28. I believe it makes most sense to understand Ps 82 as a rebuke for the failure of the judges who were given this charge (and such were not spiritual beings, dealing with those elohim is strictly forbidden in the same passages) to fulfil this elohim-ic role appropriately. e.g. Ex 23:6 "You shall not pervert the judgment of your poor in his dispute." Ps 82:2, 3 "How long will you judge unjustly ... Defend the poor and fatherless; Do justice to the afflicted and needy." The first verse of the Psalm says God judges righteously in the heavenly council, the remainder asks the judges of Israel, why do you not do the same? This reminds me strongly of Jesus' instruction to pray: "Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven".

The Israeli judges are referred to multiple times as elohim in the Torah. The great Sanhedrin was made up of 70 with the high priest or nasi (prince) originally as the head reflecting the 70 sons of God in the heavenly court.

Genesis 6:3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
    1. Kinds of man were created
    2. With flesh
    3. That also became flesh
    4. That stayed without flesh.
    The fathers.
The tiller of the ground was the earthy kind . Adam
The Dresser and Keeper of the garden was the heavenly kind . Adamah
    The sons :
    1. The sons of man :
Cain gotten as a man from the LORD as the seed of the Tiller of the ground
    2. The sons of God. Abel the keeper of sheep as the seed of the Keeper of the garden.
    3. The dresser part gave life as half of the heavenly man , to the blood , bone and flesh she was formed of from the earthy man . Adamah became the second Adam. And the woman as the mother of all living .
    4. Seth was apointed as a son by God , because Cain slew Abel as a replacement seed in the likeness and image of Adamah who became Adam (Keeper). Dresser parts likeness was Enos. As a son was born unto Seth also.
The voice of Abels blood could still be heared.
Abel was dead and could still speak .
    1 Samuel 6:18
And the golden mice, according to the number of all the cities of the Philistines belonging to the five lords, both of fenced cities, and of country villages, even unto the great stone of Abel, whereon they set down the ark of the LORD: which stone remaineth unto this day in the field of Joshua, the Bethshemite.
    2 Samuel 20:18
Then she spake, saying, They were wont to speak in old time, saying, They shall surely ask counsel at Abel: and so they ended the matter.
Behold , the voice from below.
Why do you think the Muslims pray at the Dome of the Rock ?
They await the return of the voice of Abel .
    Hallo !!!!

These are the ten kings in Daniel and John’s visions (the ten horns).
I think it’s pretty obvious that they are demonic kings because Daniel says the “little horn” had “eyes like the eyes of man”.
The fourth beast was diverse from all the beast before it, is the Islamic beast.
This final beast is of course the feet of the statue. The iron and clay represents an unmixed kingdom which would be the Suni Shia conflict within Islam.
The sweet and bitter book of Revelation is the Quran. It’s words are sweet but it causes bitterness.
Every aspect of Islam is in these prophecies.
Mohamed the false prophet who received his revelations from satan, the image of the beast that was set up is the Kaaba, and we even have the four horsemen of Revelation.
The four horsemen were Mohamed and the thre following Islamic caliphates.
    1. Mohamed-white horse 570-632
(Mohamed was an archer. He was a descendant of Ishmael through Kedar spoken of in Genesis 25:13. Mohamed rode a white horse named Buraq to the Temple Mount. He wore a crown and is called the last prophet of Islam)
    2. Abu Bakr- red horse 632-634
(The spread of Islam by force)
    3. Umar- black horse 634-644
(Umar used scales to calculate Islamic taxes. 10% tax was two pounds of wheat which equaled 1 days wage for 20 pounds of wheat. Umar did not tax oil or wine)
    4. Uthman- Pale horse (green horse) 644-656
(At the time he took power, there was a great famine and following that, the Plague of 'Amwas)
And it just so happens that the Islamic Bismala mirrors John Greek writing of chi xi stigma.
Obviously John did not entirely understand what he saw and this is the reason why he says “here is wisdom, let him that have understanding”.

Wouldn’t it be much easier, or convincing , if you just show or bring on these “deities” or supernaturalism than attempting to convince through text?
But if you can’t prove it, you conceptualise it, right?
2Co 3:18 But we all, with our face having been unveiled, having beheld the glory of the Lord as in a mirror, are being changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Lord Spirit.
Don’t mistaken the “images” in the text for real. You need to “unveil” the “images”. It is like a person looking into the mirror and saw a wolf. Was the reflection real, or a depiction of the person’s image/nature?
The author called you “wolves”. Are you really wolves or by nature wolves?
Mat 7:15 Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
What do these people stand to gain through supernaturalism?
Your soul and their deep pockets.

I think these beings are solid, flesh and blood like us (or at the very least, physical and made of atoms). I think they live and have always lived in the hollow earth, coming and going. We are their project. We look like they do (for the most part). They are “invisible,” not because they’re wispy cloud beings, but because we can’t see them due to their location and their disguise amongst us. Jesus is still who He says He is. These beings fostered and guided Him while He was topside; educating Him about who He is. When Christ left His first estate to become human, His memory couldn’t retain all of that, so He needed to be “re-taught” in human standards and language. His vessel (body) was free of the sin virus, which passes through the Y chromosome, which He did not have, therefore He was as Adam was, except He was YHWH incarnate. I see the angels that followed Him and ministered to Him like the Bene Gesserit from the Dune novels, except 100 righteous.
I’m curious to know what people think of this idea.
