    I remember the first time I saw one of Fieldres' video on using the metronome a while back. I was hooked and I applied that technique when whip and pause 6010 roots, 7018 capping etc. It is fun and helps a lot with muscle memory. Happy new year!

      Indio Barbosa 2 questions for you: 1 what kind of metronome did you use for that and 2 how did you go about using it ? I would like to try that out to see if it will improve my weld profiles. Thanks for the help.

    I'm a fitter and work with 3rd gen welder. Guys a real nervous guy that second guesses his self on everything, which he shouldn't. Awesome stick and tig. Had a chance to work with his uncle for a few weeks and wish I woulda took pics. Amazing. Not only that helped me out with an showed me some crazy math on some weird degree with an offset coming off a tank. Forever grateful...

    Excellent Excellent Excellent!!
    This was such an Educating Video!! Super Helpful.
    I wasn’t Taught this in the Mid 1970’s when I was Taking Off Campus Welding In High School, nor in a College Class.
    I no idea that I was doing a Freehand Version of this in High School, when I was Welding the Trunnions onto my Cannon. Thanks much you guys!! TH-cam is Awesome for Teaching!!

    They say that when you give a CPR, run the song "Staying alive" in your head to know the rate of pushing on the chest. I think it would work here too.... And if your weld comes to life, that's a bonus..

    The only problem with walking the cup is that many welders today can’t weld free hand weld very neatly so when they have to do a field weld in an awkward position near a wall they can’t walk the cup and make a mess of the job but I do agree with it because it’s quicker and let’s you stand in a much better position when working in the workshop

    @cameronbruce7755 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Been having this conversation at work lately, but I have a question. The “argument” is the speed of the walk can change the heat affected zone, so would you say speeding up your walk causes more of a heat affected zone or less?

    • @debbiewad3
      @debbiewad3 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      What do you mean by heat affected zone

    • @cameronbruce7755

      @@debbiewad3 The area around the weld that has not been melted but the microstructure or properties have been altered.

      @jeffgreer198613 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Turning up and walking faster actually minimizes your HAZ. If you turn it down and walk slower you got more heat in one spot. Even though its cold its still hot so the less time you spend in one spot regardless of heat is better.

    Back when I learned to weld (50 years ago), welds were judged on how smooth they were. Now everything is about ripples and stacking dimes...perhaps in the future it will be about the perfect undercut or uniform porosity placement???

    I want to weld like this. I'm so depressed at how not good like this that I am. wow. How the hell do I get into this when I make $19/hr as a production welder with no money left after bills are paid? It hurts to even watch it. Day after day they just keep getting better and I just make the same old shit. How can i change this realistically?
