I think it's important that people understand that freelance work and youtube work is not clean money. By clean money I mean that it is not tax free. The taxes associated can be hefty. People need to know how to budget and put money aside to pay those taxes. A lot of times a tax consultant or lawyer is needed. By all means do freelance and everything else but be very careful not to spend all the money and forget about taxes because that can become a huge issue very quickly.
It is amazing that I found you. I made the decision to start making money from multiple streams of income in 2018. I hit the ground running on one of my ideas and it is starting to take off. You could talk about things like cyber security/encryption, portable hardware that you use while traveling, how you plan a fun day but still get lots of work done, timezone differences and clients....etc... I hope you have a fun and safe trip!
I would live to work from home and not feel guilty leaving my family all week. Wow that’d be great. Being in charge of your income has got to feel a lot better than having your boss in charge of it
Honest Finance even if the insecurity at the beginning is incredibly stressful and scary I definitely recommend being your own boss if you can! My husband and I are so lucky to be both bosses of our own companies and we get to spend a lot more quality time together than when I was working for someone else. To me It’s absolutely worth the leap of faith and all the hard work!

Awesome! If you can support your entire family, this is all the motivation I need to support myself and my teen kids. I can do this...thank you for the inspiration... especially after a bad day at work today. My issue is that my job takes up so much of my time and hard to work on my business. I would love to see a video about how to leave corporate America to pursue my business. I am a single mom and it's all up to me to food on the table, I can't exactly quit my job yet. I feel trapped and when I am at work my mind is on my business. It's like a trap. Have a great time in Europe, and hopefully you can do a video soon on how to escape Corporate America when you are relying on your full-time job.

Likely writing. Copywriting, content writing. She mentioned sales, advertising, and copywriting. Anytime you read an advertisement or view an infomercial, you are witnessing copywriting in action. Somebody puts those words on paper before they get approved to appear in the ad. Those are copywriters. You could also freelance write magazine articles, essays, etc. Content writing is like copywriting for the net. The rules of best practices are a little different, but the goals are usually the same: to raise awareness about a cause, convert sales, etc. Photographers also often freelance workers. You could be a wedding videographer or sell photos to stock photography sites. That sort of thing. Anytime you get paid to do work as an individual, not as an employee of a specific company, you are freelancing. The gig economy is based on freelancing. Uber drivers and Lyft are not employed by those companies - they don’t get regular paychecks from them every 2 weeks, or insurance, or medical benefits, but might be considered freelance drivers for those corporations.

Beth Bueno experiencing things on TH-cam will allow you to find your niche one day. See what subject you absolutely love and start there. It's a struggle sometimes but as you go you will see works and what doesn't work for you.
Hi Beth, thanks for sharing! I'm actually homeschooling my kids too. :) Just remember, you can choose a niche for your TH-cam channel, and it doesn't have to be forever. You can just try focusing on one thing for 3 months, and see if it's a good fit and if you're able to get traction. It doesn't have to be forever, but until you choose SOMETHING to focus on it's going to be really tough to attract an audience, because you won't be able to convey to them why they should subscribe (and if you don't even know, then they definitely won't). :) All just friendly advice! :) Hope it helps!

Hi Gillian, thank you for the videos. It's the first time that I comment on youtube! The whole video was quite interesting and would need to re-listen to it so full of interesting stuff. What cought me most it's at the end: you asked what we would like to hear/see most on the videos during your next 2 months trip. For me would be interesting to get your point of view about how to organize your job (when, where, how to record videos, wirte articles, work on your 10 "income stream") when on holiday. We know that on holiday the time changes and we are not in our usual enviroment etc...
Our main income is our photography company which both me and hubby work on, but I also have a diverse online income also, and definitely think that is a great thing for people to do. Always looking for more ideas for a passive income though!

It is hard to not feel overwhelmed when you have a lot of streams of income and have to put in effort to keep all of them profitable. I have five different sources of income consistently, and a few others occasionally.

Thanks for sharing your experiences Gillian ! I have been following along for a while and it is nice to hear that you were able to retire your husband from his full-time job. I learned a long while ago that creating multiple streams of income is the way to go. I now have a profitable side hustle which is around 50-60% of my take home income as a biomedical researcher. I am in the process of learning how to scale it so that it can fully replace my full-time income so we can also do some of the things you shared in the video - going to the park on a Wednesday sounds like heaven. Haha. Also, congrats on your TH-cam channel growth !

Are there any 'guilty' feelings? 'Guilty' is in quotations because I personally struggle with that, I feel like I have a hard time seperating my mind! From home/house to work yet while being in the house.
It definitely can be challenging to keep the two separate! I try really hard, though, because otherwise I do find myself feeling really guilty. If I try to work and spend time with my kids at the same time then I just can't be present -- or get anything done either! Thanks so much for your comment!

I’m on the same path that you’ve been (specially in the beginning it sounded like you were describing my life lol), the only differences are that I am in the beginning of my journey on TH-cam, I also don’t know exactly what my niche is yet...I love to do so many things, but I do work from home, I have 2 babies also (so I totally can relate when you mentioned to be hard to get things done with the kids home, but...I still want to do it, and also I’m going to homeschool our kids, so...help!?!), but my husband can’t wait to exchange his 9-5 job to be an entrepreneur/work from home as well. We just right now need still his income to sustain ourselves. I can’t wait to check more of your material and learn more from your experience. Thanks again!
Beth Bueno experiencing things on TH-cam will allow you to find your niche one day. See what subject you absolutely love and start there. It's a struggle sometimes but as you go you will see works and what doesn't work for you.

Just remember, you can choose a niche for your TH-cam channel, and it doesn't have to be forever. You can just try focusing on one thing for 3 months, and see if it's a good fit and if you're able to get traction.
It doesn't have to be forever, but until you choose SOMETHING to focus on it's going to be really tough to attract an audience, because you won't be able to convey to them why they should subscribe (and if you don't even know, then they definitely won't). :)

How do you find things to do? How did you learn how to do marketing? It’s easy to talk about it but finding things is a different thing. Falling into a job is what most of you did.

Hi Gillian, thank you for the videos. It's the first time that I comment on youtube! The whole video was quite interesting and would need to re-listen to it so full of interesting stuff.
What cought me most it's at the end: you asked what we would like to hear/see most on the videos during your next 2 months trip. For me would be interesting to get your point of view about how to organize your job (when, where, how to record videos, wirte articles, work on your 10 "income stream") when on holiday. We know that on holiday the time changes and we are not in our usual enviroment etc...

Our main income is our photography company which both me and hubby work on, but I also have a diverse online income also, and definitely think that is a great thing for people to do. Always looking for more ideas for a passive income though!

It is hard to not feel overwhelmed when you have a lot of streams of income and have to put in effort to keep all of them profitable. I have five different sources of income consistently, and a few others occasionally.

Thanks for sharing your experiences Gillian ! I have been following along for a while and it is nice to hear that you were able to retire your husband from his full-time job. I learned a long while ago that creating multiple streams of income is the way to go.
I now have a profitable side hustle which is around 50-60% of my take home income as a biomedical researcher. I am in the process of learning how to scale it so that it can fully replace my full-time income so we can also do some of the things you shared in the video - going to the park on a Wednesday sounds like heaven. Haha.

Are there any 'guilty' feelings? 'Guilty' is in quotations because I personally struggle with that, I feel like I have a hard time seperating my mind! From home/house to work yet while being in the house.
It definitely can be challenging to keep the two separate! I try really hard, though, because otherwise I do find myself feeling really guilty. If I try to work and spend time with my kids at the same time then I just can't be present -- or get anything done either!
