  • Kuala Terengganu was my 2nd stop on the east coast of Malaysia. Terengganu is very popular for it's delicious Nasi Dagang and Nasi Minyak. I visited a local restaurant where we had a little trouble ordering Nasi Dagang and instead kept pronouncing it as Nasi Daging which is totally different. Nasi Dagang is Fish Curry while Nasi Daging is Beef. I also went to this street food night market across the street from my hotel where I tried these fried desserts (we realized are called Peneram). I loved this amazing city and can't wait to return in the future to explore more.

I had an amazing time in Kuala Terengganu. I still didn’t even know the name of that Fried Dessert until last night. It actually doesn’t have Banana at all. Plenty of love and smiles during my stay here.

@@zaafindizawawi8141 it’s so funny how we really thought it was banana at first. When eating, it seemed to have a slight taste of banana but then we realized it wasn’t banana and figured out last night that Peneram was actually the name.

Think more tourists must visit the less popular states like you guys, most tourists only visits Penang, KL & Melaka. Thanks for visiting different states and experiencing different cuisines and cultures.

@@CrissyUnfiltered since you guys are in Terengganu, definitely must visit Perhentian Island, this island is very beautiful and 1 of the most popular Island in Malaysia. Pulau Redang is good too, different vibe, tbh I prefer Pulau Redang, it has more local and laid-back vibe, Perhentian is more touristy.

The longish thing is called keropok lekor using mackerel mixed with tapioca flour. There are few versions of keropok lekor. The semi hard, crispy or just the boiled ones. The penyiaram is actually flour mixed with palm sugar and fried. Thus, the dark brown colour. You should try the nasi kerabu which is different from other states.

Peneram = no banana, just flour + brown sugar. He pronounced it per-nay-rung, thats how the east coast people said things. word ended with consonant m or n will be converted to ng. Ketam, malam, masam, makan, kamu will become ketang, malang, masang, mung
