Come with me to the Libération district of Nice, France and visit the Gare Du Sud, the brand new gourmet food hall where there is now a branch of the most famous oyster restaurant in Nice, cafe de Turin. I also visit the fantastic traditional market that runs alongside it and discover the best Pan Bagnat in Nice at Kiosque Tintin.
If you enjoy the easy-going ambiance of local marketplaces, you’ll just love the Liberation market. In the early hours of the morning, the market gardeners, fishmongers and others involved in the production of food in Nice and its surrounding areas set up their stands. Fresh fruits and vegetables sit alongside olives, honey, cheeses, gloriously-coloured flowers and freshly-caught Mediterranean fishes. Breathe in the aromas, savour the tastes - it’s like an ode to Nice and its hinterland. An invitation to enjoy the finer things in life.
The market extends across the Place du General de Gaulle, as far as Avenue Malaussena, Rue Clément Roassal, Rue Joseph Garnier and Rue Veillon. The ‘Liberation’ stop on Line 1 of the tram will take you directly there.
The market also includes the “Docks de la Riviera”, a classic covered market that’s home to cheesemakers, bakers, butchers, cured meats specialists, bars and delicatessens - all under the same roof and all sure to provide a feast for the senses.
Lastly, don’t miss the recently-opened Halles Gourmandes de la Gare du Sud on Avenue Malaussena. This historic building has been fully renovated and now plays host to a food court featuring around thirty different street-food stalls and restaurants, serving all types of cuisine in a warm, friendly ambiance. This popular venue is open Tuesday to Sunday, from 11am until late evening.

I just found your channel and appreciate you showing some affordable treats and places to go in Nice! Looks lovely! I was there once for a brief moment and would love to go back, but thought it was likely too costly. Probably less expensive to live there than to visit. ♥️
It needn’t be expensive and even air b n b’s can be found for a reasonable rate. Just avoid certain places would be my tip!

I think the main market Is closed Mondays and the gourmet one has changed quite a bit since the video and post pandemic. I think Sunday morning is best day to go
