correct. Not a factory restore, a personal restore. It's just a ridiculous pain to redownload and reorganize all my apps and widgets to the way they were, rather than just have the phone restore from backup automatically.
for some reason after I do the flash recovery and recover from the boot menu on the phone it never goes through. Not sure how to get past that obstacle

I did. I had to find the RUU and start over. When I did it with the Sprint version all worked well. Now I guess I'm just looking for a decent custom rom.

So, I got to the point where I have TWRP up, but when I tried to create a back up, I received an error that there was not enough memory. It's claiming I only have about 1.5 GB of internal storage. I know for a fact I have somewhere in the 20s (32 before the OS). So...what did I do wrong?
I'm having the same problem here. I try to enter into recovery and it stays on the white HTC screen for about 30 seconds with "entering recovery" across the top then the phone shuts off. I tried clockworkmod and its doing the same crap. I am also with Sprint.

I've tried going into recovery mode from bootloader many times but all with the same results.

If I install this on my HTC One, I would no longer be getting the super user grant/deny permission on the screen? after installing, should i uninstall the superSU chain fire, i have already installed. However, I want to go to settings>logging to set the super user, but I cannot find that option in the settings. rooting the device wipes the device. The device before the root is "normal"... i.e. all original settings. A full restore of personal preferences, settings, apps, and information. Does that clear up my question?
i havent got c:/windosw/system32/cmd.exe on windos' 8 what do i use, i've only got promet command, and i've tryed putting it in there but it dosnt do anything.

Yeah, I spent a good deal of the night trying to figure out where I went wrong. Well...looks like TWRP has a different version for Sprint model. (2.5.0.0m7wls instead of just 2.5.0.0m7). It's my first time rooting, so I sort of missed that detail. :/

Please make sure the FAST BOOT option is disabled under Power Settings. This was preventing me from booting into the recovery.
