  • In this weeks Cache Walk we are exploring the old fishermans village of Newlyn on the coast of Cornwall, England. We are trying to find the houses artist Frank Bramley lived in while part of the Newlyn School artist colony in the 19th Century. Come and see some of his wonderful paintings and how we get on in the narrow streets hunting for his cottage and finding geocaches hidden in Newlyn.

What a fabulous adventure. Loved all the seagull sounds. With all that meandering about the village streets I trust you took a waymark of the car’s location so you find your way back to it. 🦀

Glad you liked the walk around. A waymark would have been a good idea as we had to walk up two streets to find it 🙂 We have never heard seagulls so noisy before. The ones around us hardly make any noise.

Felt like I was walking the streets of 'Doc Martin'...... Really lovely. The paintings are most excellent, although the painting of the child's funeral terrified me(historically priceless of course) Not sure if we would have noticed the 'four steps up'....

Yes the place reminded us of 'Doc Martin' too. It's a sad painting but probably a common event in those days. The painting was once criticised for 'lacking human interest' but it's full of it for me.

I don't know what's more fun to watch... you try and find geocaches or trying to find a street in that town. :)
They call those "streets"? They look like trails! :P

I don't know how they drive around them daily. It's either walk up and down very steep streets or drive hoping no car comes the other way. Hard choice 🙂

How cool. Has your inherited painting been evaluated for value? Lots of really neat back alley ways with an abundance of flowers. Interesting to see the occasional palm.

Yes we had them all looked at before they were shared out amongst the family after my grandmother died. Some needed a little restoration work. Strange seeing the palm we call a cabbage tree growing in the gardens there.

@@GeoRick my husband is from the Old City, so we go there to visit his family. Ten times for me now, but only twice in the last eleven years as a geocacher.
