Great production, liked and subscribed. The stats conversion from metric to imperial for us Brits was great, as you probably know we still sell beer in pints but milk in litres, petrol in litres but still think of miles per gallon. My 10 year old Grandaughter understands both measurements perfectly! Any idea what a model this size would cost nowadays minus baseboards?
We went back in 2009 when on hols in NZ. Found it by accident, wife spotted sign after we left Wellington. Turned out that we were both from Bristol in the UK so had a behind the scene tour and running session. Glad to see its still going, one day after this is all over would love to go back. Channel is very good and have enjoyed the videos. thanks Chris
Hi Chris, thank you for your feedback. Yes, Middleton Model Railway is certainly located in an out-of-the-way place, a true hidden gem, and Colin is a marvelous chap. It's definitely a place I go back to when I'm in the area. Cheers, Julian.
Hi from the UK, what a great layout and so nice to hear it's not DCC! Love the fact that there are lots of Lima locos in use as well :) really well made video also, have just subscribed. All the best Mike.
One cant help but to be impressed by this labour of love for the model Railroading. It's really clean and orderly peaceful and serene I like it..........Gman
Visited Middleton railway a few years ago with my club mates,Colin and his wife was great hosts.Really enjoyed the layout and the cheese of course.I was impressed with the selection of model railway items you can buy which was a bonus.Must go back some time .Cheers David ,Palmerston North
Hi David, sadly Colin's wife passed away just over a year ago but he's kept on going with the property and of course Middleton Model Railway. Unfortunately the homemade cheese operation has stopped as this was his wife's domain.
HI Tom. Yes, it's in NZ. Middleton Model Railway is in the North Wairarapa, lower North Island, about 2 hours drive north of Wellington on State Highway 2. Here's a link to their website... cwmglyn.co.nz/
Truly a labor of love! I can imagine a miniature me living there and being able to watch the trains all day. I was hoping to see the level crossing gates go up. Are the catenaries functional?
Great video mate I love the wcml 25kv ac electric locomotives was I have them on my layout was I model British rail west coast main line in the 1980s clive
I would have to say I agree but it's not my layout to decide. The layout is so extensive now, it would be an enormous undertaking for the owner to ballast all the track.
That's the beauty of railway modelling, all layouts are unique and have their own characteristics. Not forgetting the Middleton layout was essentially built 30-40 years ago and it reflects modelling characteristics of that era. As much as I marvel at the shear size of Middleton layout, I definitely prefer a layout size that is more manageable where I can focus in on the smaller details.
Wow !!!!!! Well I'd say that size doesn't matter . Yea right . If you'll believe that I'll sell you a bridge in the middle of some swampland on Dagobah . Greetings from Silver Springs , Nevada US . PS .... Trying to watch the trains but the music is putting me to sleep .
It is an interesting question you ask and you're not the first to do so. It's spurred me to do a wee video on the subject, so keep your eyes peeled for that in the not too distant future.
Nice layout and good landscaping. But the icing in the cake is missing: The cities look like ghost towns: Only a few vehicles and no people on the streets. Sorry, because of that no like.
Been there. Walked in, bought a model electric diesel locomotive. Got three now, live in a caravan and nowhere to run them.
Well worth a visit.

What three words would do justice in describing this achievement? Crazy, awesome, WOW?

Pete from australia nsw
A really amazing layout! Wow! And to run it all on analogue control is incredible!
I see some very displayable scenes there. Small enough to be removed and taken to show. Would love to see parts do some traveling.

That's a fantastic model railway must have taken a few years to get it built.
Hi from Malta. very impressive and thanks for sharing.
Hi George and hello Malta, thank you kindly.
Amazing video. Well shot and edited. Great Layout. Hi from England
If anyone has any questions about Middleton Model Railway, please feel free to ask away, and hopefully I should be able to answer them.
Fabulous layout and it's great that catenary exists now in the UK.
is it really at New Zealand, it is very far, if not then whereabouts is that place?
HI Tom. Yes, it's in NZ. Middleton Model Railway is in the North Wairarapa, lower North Island, about 2 hours drive north of Wellington on State Highway 2. Here's a link to their website... cwmglyn.co.nz/
I am very impressed, just with the sheer size, thankyou from Wairoa in New Zealand
If you over lay you talking about the layouts history with the runbys of the trains it helps to creates more interesting and well paced layout tour
Thanks for the advice/feedback, I'll be sure to consider this for future videos.
Nice mate. I'm usually there every weekend spending up large 😁👍
Lovely model Railway. Unfortunately the UK railways and buildings were never that clean!
Truly a labor of love! I can imagine a miniature me living there and being able to watch the trains all day. I was hoping to see the level crossing gates go up. Are the catenaries functional?
As far as I'm aware I don't think the catenaries are functional.
sorry to hear she passed away, she was a lovely lady and her cheese was amazing.

needs ballasting.

@@StationRoadModelRailway Yes, a enormous undertaking but ballast would make an outstanding model railroad even more realistic.
didnt expect to see British outline!
I mean it really is a big layout. But yours Is way beyond this layout!
They surely put a lot of effort in the layout and they also did a great job!

Amazing cheeses too. Well, until recently :-(
Yes, that was sad news with Colin's wife who use to make the cheeses. That must have been 3-4 years ago now.
Wow !!!!!!
Well I'd say that size doesn't matter .
Yea right . If you'll believe that I'll sell you a bridge in the middle of some swampland on Dagobah .

Hello Silver Springs. Interesting feedback, although I will keep my heavy metal music in the rack.
Someone appreciates the class 87
Nice Blog and excellent large layout and 🔔Subscribed🔔 for future videos 👍Thumbs Up👍
Thanks for your feedback and subscribing.
Why does there seem to be so many antipodean fans of British outline?
It is an interesting question you ask and you're not the first to do so. It's spurred me to do a wee video on the subject, so keep your eyes peeled for that in the not too distant future.
@@StationRoadModelRailway Thanks, I will look out for it.
