- Death Machines of London brought their epic Airforce build to the Bike Shed where it's now on display for a few weeks. Here's an interview with the guys who toiled for 112 days to produce one of the standout customs of 2017.... or any year, period.

Not our finest production but we grabbed the camera and literally shot from the hip. We'll get better and more polished with time, although wooden spoon mic seems to work OK.

I caught the airplane wing silhouette right away..and dissagree with the folks saying it should be a driver...The whole Super Custom car scene are outrageous cool machines that are NOT daily drivers, just beautiful creations...I fondly built many of them years ago as Model Kits and would lie on my bed dreaming as I stared at them..ah youth..
Incredible engineering. I would stick a clear perspex cover over that alternator though :)
Good idea, maybe a thick antique looking peice of clear glass, more of a "sight glass" but with that old nostalgic look of something I've seen somewhere that's not coming to mind, dammit 🤔🤨

Possibly the best custom build that I have ever seen. I got to talk to the guys at Bikeshed and they were so proud of what they have built, with justification.
Metropolis on 2 wheels. Love the areal design. so different from modern insect-bikes.

Wow, the more you look at that bike and the more you know about it the more you love it. All during the video I was trying to guess how much it was going to be priced at, and I settled at €90k so shouted out loud, Whhaaaat !!!!! when Mr DMOL said Guzzi could have it for €120k. That is serious money but no doubting these boys are very serious engineers and innovators. The level of finish is out of this world. On first sight I didn’t like it and nearly switched off, so glad I didn’t. Can’t wait for May, boys.🏍🏍🏍👍🏻

It's the kind of motorcycle design I expect from a guy who wears a scarf with his t-shirt. It's pretty and it eerily feels like the bike would be more comfortable riding you.
Great channel watch it in the states I’d love to continue to see more videos like the Ducati staff pick and the yamie staff pick id like to see some !!!!Harley’s!!!!! as well someone has to have made one great show great bikes great personality not overbearing.

Brake lever bolts not cool because you “don’t want to see the workings” but the alternator cap was left off.... mmm k

Actually, Rodsmiths bike has a fairing that would deflect wind over an actual rider. Rather than just over the tank.

Certainly not a motorbike that could be used anymore,, it's just a very beautiful work of art, but then if you start with a Moto Guzzi then you can't go far wrong.
Not criticising the bike whatever suits. The bike looks great like I said. Will it be at your show in May? I spoke to the owner at a previous show when he was showing the bike with a light around the exhaust which was a nice touch, think it has a wooden seat also. Liking your videos, Great job.
The bike was at least year's Tobacco Dock show, so it won't be there this year (we don't do repeats) - however it will probably be at the Bike Shed venue in Shoreditch during the show week.

Could have design an acrylic alternator cover and you will still have the look
I like the return to getting the seat base down closer to the tire but I don't see much leeway once a body is in the seat and the suspension compresses. I know, it's a show bike but critics are going to see questionable features that affect the otherwise more logical fittings. Well done, though, and I've enjoyed riding LeMans Guzzis years ago.
All the panache of a poorly engineered low rider. Beautiful but unusable. Actually I'm not all that won over by the styling elements.

It's such a shame so much focus is put on a bike that's designed to look at, and not ride, look at the front wheel to fairing clearance, the clearance over the rear wheel, it just looks wrong

As a show bike is a beauty, ridable?, no is not, as soon as a very tiny assed rider ( look at the seat size ) gets on both wheels will touch bike body parts, a fairing for an air cooled motorcycle??
they didn't even turn it on for us to hear it? it's beautiful but it's like a frustrating work of art that can't even be enjoyed... by anyone for that matter.
Looks like about an inch of travel in the front and not much more in the rear. Very very pretty, but one wonders at the ride quality.

If I would have read down a bit first, there's no way I would have left the comment. Kind of a shit storm already. Doesn't deserve THAT much hate. Still probably better to ride than many 'choppers.' Also better looking IMHO.

Most custom made bikes are looks like trash (for me) but this is pure awsome.
That does look impressive, in the same way a Boulton-Paul Defiant, ME11O, Ford Edsel, Victory Vision, all automatic motorcycles look good, but fail. That thing is a waste of a good engine, stupidly skinny wheels that are thinner than some bicycles ridden by other hipsters.
The thing is, these guys almost certainly started with a doner bike that is titled. Is it too much to ask, since it could in all likelihood have a title that it actually be rideable? Kind of disingenuous to prattle on about all the "engineering" that went into this bike. If it isn't a functioning, rideable bike then NO engineering went into it, or not much anyway. Rather a whole lot of design work to make sure it has visual impact was agonised over. I guess engineering is involved in making those custom handlebar levers function. Along with making sure the running gear all bolts together. No, wait! That would be engineering attributed to Moto Guzzi. These guys develop a frame it all bolts into. That fairing exists to deflect wind up over the tank period. Doesn't appear to benefit a rider in the least. I mean, it's a scant few inches above the tank.
Leave the styling to the Italians methinks.
You can see the work that has gone into the design of the bike which is great when it’s show Bike but I can’t imagine anyone riding this bike on a Sunday morning which seems pretty pointless really. Are bikes not for riding ? It reminds me of something an Industrial designer has dreamt to pin on his mood board. Can’t say it’s not a good looking bike though. 🤔
At the end of the day every custom bike is built for a different purpose, and occasionally it's more about the art than the ride. This bike was built to showcase a brand's skills, taste and intention - Death Machines of London - but, it can be ridden. Just about. It's an engineering spectacle and will probably sit in a boardroom or living room for most of it's life - which is fine by us.

CAFE RACER
A lot of pomp and circumstance by a trio of builders who would do well to pay attention to the German builders and the attention to detail on what those guys are doing. The underside of that back fender is kind of shoddy and uninspired if shiny. Those Germans would have had something resembling a custom grill with some curvature to accommodate the tire as the suspension pushes the tire up into the fender. A bit too much emphasis on engineering to settle for a shiny piece of flat plate under there. No back brake? Yet on they go about engineering.

This is fashion, not engineering, why they talk about the rear light for 2 minutes... which infact doesn't fit properly (they should of the 3D scanned the hand made rear end into the CAD program...).
This is motorcycle design, created for beauty, with engineering at the heart. It's not for riding far, but it's a beauty to behold.

It's very depressing and sad listening to this thing. These guys have gone too far into the art philosophy motto of: "If it's useful, it's not art". It's a goddamn rideable bike, for fucks sake, ride the poor thing, don't just parade it around on a plinth like some poor caged lion with it's teeth pulled out and it's claws cut down!
I am very sad for this bike; that Guzzi block was not cast to spend it's life on a plinth gathering dust and neither were those Brembos.
I hope someone buys bike off them and thrashes it within an inch of it's life down some gnarly corners.

A lesson in how to ruin an iconic Italian motorcycle.
It's just a vanity project, compare it to Craig Rodsmith's highly engineered and beautiful Dustbin Racer Guzzi, it's an unrideable joke, for the sole purpose of selling overpriced t-shirts. Emperors New Clothes.
That's a bit harsh. Yes, it's a showbike, but Ray and the crew are proper bike builders and riders, and they build engineered machines that work. Check out the Guzzi Airtail and their Up Yours Copper.
Bike Shed Motorcycle Club seen them both, and they too are form over function and not particularly exciting. The simple fact is that a company building a solitary bike a year (that can't really be ridden) to prop up a t-shirt brand takes away from the authenticity of the bike build movement, regardless of who the head of the company pays to do the spannering.
Chief mechanics Ray Petty and Max V are also the successful and experienced mechanics behind Ray Petty Meccanica in South London, building and fixing bikes all year round. They look after my Ducati's and are known for performance upgrades, tuning and setting-up Italian performance machines. Building Death Machine's bikes is something they do for pleasure and to test their ability to make ambitious design projects, that include bespoke tail lights, instruments and unique levers, along with beautiful forms. Stuff that customers can't afford to do for themselves. DMoL is a brand they have created to name their projects, and personally I like their T-shirts AND their bikes, both are top notch, ...but that's just my view. [Dutch]

Calling a Guzzi 'Airforce' does not confer any Kudos by association, unless you are the kind of Hipster who thinks this makes you into a modern Biggles somehow. The workmanship I admire. The functionality sucks. Firestone tires FFS? It's like one of those watches that tries to hook up to nostalgic pioneering days, like that ridiculous 'Mosquito' watch. no thanks.
