I found this channel 3 weeks ago and I love it!! It’s wholesome, fun, entertaining, lite hearted, and all around amazing. Keep up the great word. You’ve got two new subscribers from my husband and I :)
Another item to consider concerns security of your electronics. I carry a solar chargeable battery pack I can attach to my shoulder bag and I can recharge several devices from a single free charge. I learned from a terrible experience while in the Munich Germany airport a few years back that not all "free" charging stations come without a price. Fortunately my spouse was with me and her phone wasn't affected as she didn't charge hers in the airport like I did. I wasn't able to text or access my Gmail, etc., but we did contact family The other to consider concerns security of your electronics. My phone operating system was contaminated to the point it even affected my camera settings, text, Internet connection and email abilities. I loved how you “zipped” through the historic buildings and spent quality time at the Guinness Brewery. My husband would have spent the entire day there! Another quality video, Michael.
I stay in that pod place a lot when I’m up in Dublin, it’s the cutest and most handiest place to stay in if your traveling by yourself or even in a group, I get mine for as cheap as €12 a night usually
I stayed at the Generator hostel in Dublin for around $40ish (Canadian dollars) a night. Honestly I think it would be worth it to pay that extra price. It’s a cool concept- but not sure if It would be worth it for me. The Generator hostel was really nice in Dublin and worth every penny (however I didn’t like the Generator in London).
I loved this hostel alot. My room was way bigger then yours but it was amazing. Make friends with the manager of the restuarant and a bunch of the bartenders. Mallory's next door has amazing fish and chips! Love that place! Cant wait to go back!
I still can't believe that for six months I slept on a 3 inch mattress with only a curtain for privacy and 2 other people stacked below me! WHOOSH. After years passing still figure it would really have to be an INCREDIBLE something to even make me Wonder about doing what you did. Thanks 😊👍
I know this was a year ago, but I absolutely love Dublin and will be going back in September, so I’ve booked this accommodation. Thank you for sharing, 👌🏾👍🏾
Mike. Love Ireland! So much really really old history. Lots to see. I spent a week and want to go back. I thought the Guinness tour was paying to go into shop basically. Everything you want and more that says Guinness 😀😃😂. Would like to see Scotland. Another awesome video Mike Thanks! 👍👍
As a dub who grew up in D11 there are very few authentic pubs to visit on the north side. Grave diggers in glasnevin is the best pint of Guinness in the country.
Love how you prioritise your choices of visits, walk past the Churches, and head straight to the alcohol, I am exactly the same when pushed for time, beer and food ,best!
Ok, Young Man You Get Right Back Home Now! LOL! Ireland My Grandfather Came From There At 8 Years Old Ellis Island He Came Trough. Looks Great! Thanks For Sharing! :) P.S. I Got Cousins Over There!
In the middle of Dublin City there is a 'Spire' that is so tall you can see from pretty far away! By the way I live in Ireland so...'Hello' in Irish is 'Dia Duit'! The pronounciation is 'Dee-a g-witch'.
My last vacation included a few days in Dublin. I really liked it there. I agree the Guinness tour is very touristy, but I'm glad I did it. Your channel is helping with my need to travel in a time where travel isn't possible. Thanks.
Mike, your sense of wonder make the vlog even more enjoyable. That Guinness poured fresh is amazing. Your camera caught the settling perfectly...like clouds in a sea of pleasure!!! Makes me want to visit, and I'm not even a drinker!!!😂
Was flying from the Canary Isles, overnight stay in Dublin, then to USA. Had hotel reservations for the night but was offered overnight accommodations by my seat mate, a wonderful, beautiful Dublin resident. I declined (how foolish of me) but will always be grateful for her Irish hospitality
Having lived in Dallas and my a/c went out for 3 days one summer, I think I could do the POD for a couple nights. Looking forward to your adventure in Dublin.
I am afraid the Pod Hotel would not be my first choice but I did enjoy your background music. I have never been to Ireland so I need to go someday......thanks!!!!
Irish person here! I almost cried of laughter when you attempted to say Sláinte, it was so cute XD It's Slawn-cha, but keep saying Slainch because it's adorable
Haha! I came to comments just to see if anyone would mention this! I love Mike but was thinking oh my this sounds like some hick from Oklahoma. 😂😂 PS I’m from Oklahoma but I do know that it’s Slawn-cha! 😉 #cheers
Well as a fellow irishman, if you ever return to ireland. You need to go to a few places, One being the Waterford Triangle in Waterford City. Another would be to Youghal in cork for their clock tower.. Knock in Galway has a massive church gathering at times.
I stayed at the same Hostel in July 2019. My other hotel was student housing for Trinity College (New Destiny Mill). The Tealling distillery was right across the street, and convenient when you drank too much. Tealling is the only Irish whiskey currently distilled in Dublin. I want to go back real bad.
Pod hostel really. You missed the Book of Kells and the Old Library in Dublin. Also heavy with Tourists. I had a lovely day out west in County Clare at the Cliffs of Moher and Burren National Park.
Mike, Loved the vid, I have binged watched lots of your vids tonight, I think your brilliant my friend, 76.6k subscribers, your going to be massive....keep it rolling. 👍
Reminds me of a similar place I stayed in Greece, no ventilation in the pods. To make matters worse some crazy dude would turn the AC up every night to like 30+ degrees Celsius, which of course turned into a week long battle over control of the AC. Shared spaces like this should not give over control of the AC to guests.
Mike! You missed The Brazen Head, which is an 821 year old pub a few blocks from the Jameson tour. Worth experiencing. Incredible medieval design and presentation. Good food too.
Mike, enjoyed it, but yes, you need to spend about a week in Ireland. (Take an umbrella; the reason it's called "The Emerald Isle" is that all the rain keeps everything green.) The Cliffs of Moher on the west coast provide some awesome pics, and there are many tours from Dublin that'll show you great sights in one day.
Not a bad price for your pod hotel. Wish they would add a few features offered by the Japanese pods. A fan, just a bit more space and a door that closes. Overall, it's satisfactory and you certainly can't beat the price! Looking forward to your upcoming videos. Take care and Happy Travels! ♥️🛫🌎
I once read a book about "The Bowery" in Chicago where sadly the homeless could get a bed for the night in a similar contraption except it was made of chicken wire and boards.
if there was any source of ventilation - I think I could sleep in it. I'd like to see how they change and make-up those beds though. Sure looks like an awkward task. Never been to that part of the world. Glad you hit the important spots (Guiness/Jameson) . . . lol
I stayed in a hostel when I was in Helsinki but I had opted for 2 single beds room all by myself. Otherwise, I would not mind a capsule hotel but I need my space and privacy.
I am going to stay in Jacobs Inn Hostel and I was nervous bcs I never shared a room with other people. Also my main worry was that my suitcase was big but seeing those lockers made me feel a lot more secure, thx so much ❤
Cool video. I may stay at Jacob's Inn. I'm trying to decide whether to stay at a hostel or a hotel. I figure since I will spend most of my time exploring that I could stay at a hostel and save money. But then I think that having more privacy and space is worth the money. I'll decide soon.
To me the three ‘must do’ stops in Dublin are The Book of Kells at Trinity College, the GPO (General Post Office) which is still pock-marked with bullet holes from the 1916 Easter Rising against the British, and Guinness at St. James Gate. I would avoid Temple Bar like the plague . . .
Yeah, the air circulation would be a big drawback for me. Also, if your neighbor snores? Forget it. Otherwise, if you're someone who can get past all that, then it looks like a splendid way to go. I love this video . There is no hotels like this in California. Most nice hotels are in Tokyo Japan but I would like to try one ! If it had AC inside it would be nice
I wouldn't mind the Pod Hotel except for the warm, stale air you mentioned since there is no ventilation (right?) in them? So, for that reason, I'm out. I visited Ireland many years ago and loved it. Have a longing to go back sometime.
I went to one in Edinburgh last month. Not the same model of pods but the same concept. I survived by just taking off my pyjama top, brought it down to tolerable heat.
I first saw your channel last week when I watched your Amtrak sleeper train vid which was awesome. Really cool to see you over this side of the pond and enjoying your time here. That looked like Leeds station on your trailer for upcoming videos? That’s my home town, and I’ve visited Dublin many times. Hope you enjoy your time in the UK. Hopefully one day I can explore the US more. 👍🇺🇸🇬🇧
I hope you do realise that Ireland is not part of the UK, just because our two islands are close does not mean we are the same country, that would be like saying America is part of Canada because they are beside each other on the map. Totally agree with you! He comes across as such a nice guy with a good sense of humor.
DownieLive Florida:)
I always carry a small USB fan with me when I am travelling. Would work well in the pods. Great video Mike!
Love watching your shows. It helping me get through this crazy time the whole world going through. Keep them coming. Thanks you.
Not a chance I would sleep in one of them pods, it’s like being in a coffin!
I’m with you ,no f...ing way..!!!!they gotta have benches in a park somewhere.....
Thank You Mike for your videos. It’s great to see all of the things that you film. Have a great time. God Bless You and your family.
I would sleep in the pod if there was air circulation. I can't sleep if I'm hot. But otherwise I wouldn't mind
Love your channel. Your energy is contagious!
Same i live small spaces but when it’s hot well i can’t sleep Oof
Love a freezing room for a good sleep... makes the blankets better ❤️🇨🇦🤓

The horrible thing is that renting a studio in Dublin isn't much better than that pod. The housing crisis is really bad here.
Excellent video!

Yep!
Funny thing is I stayed at The Jacob’s Inn prior to them converting into the pods
If you haven't been to Glasgow yet, you need to go to the Pot Still bar, it's a whisky bar and it is always voted the best in Scotland!
