- OK, so this is a comprehensive Base Game (2nd edition rules) + Controlled Chaos expansion review...spoiler -- GREAT game MUCH improved 2nd rule book. Our suggestion? ONLY play with expansion (get it immediately!). Best Dino game we've played...ever!!!!! Rating 9.25/10

It feels great that we were able to listen to your feedback over on boardgamegeek.com and incorporate the ideas into the Corporate Bailout system to improve the game for you. We also agree that one of the most exciting things about making Controlled Chaos is that we loved enabling more ways of winning, which feels fantastic. I personally like that mutant strategies have gotten a buff, low reputation parks where you intentionally destroy dinosaurs can work, more dangerous scandal parks can work, and so much more. Richard really poured his heart into much of the new design, and I'm glad it clicked with you so well!
It's amazing how the board game community communicates now and we all just want great experiences that can be replayed for years to come. DinoGenics is now a staple in our household and I can see it becoming a regular for years to come. In essence it is an INSPIRED game. Fantastic in every regard...can't wait to see what the designer may have up his sleeve next!
You guys are awesome! I really appreciate how clearly you explain the various game mechanics and express your opinions. It’s so amazing how well you work together and don’t talk over each other and you are both so eloquent in your descriptions and explanations. Do you guys post on Facebook and/or Instagram? That is so wonderful for you to say - we do love doing these --- when we have time these days! Max is back in classes but I try to get him to the table for family time as much as I can. Our only presence is here on YT... Would love to hear what you think of DinoGenics after a couple of plays. It REALLY shines with the expansion/new rules.

And thanks to you, I found the corporate bailout variant. I didn't knew about it before. Seems like it was a new addition in the 2nd print rulebook, and as I already knew the rules (have a 1st edition KS copy) I didn't read it again.
Next time I will play with this variant! 😃
Yeah it changes things for the better by far --- and the expansion is a must have to really get the complexity of the game's fun to the fore!
@@justinandmaxgames5472 Just finished a game today using the corporate bailout variant in a 2 player game. Before counting end game scoring extras from tiles and specialist we were tied. This time I focused heavily on aquatic dinosaurs and achieved my absolute all time high score of 205 points 😱
Got the large tile which gives 3 points for each species in bordering aquatic habitat and also the specialist who gives 2 point for each aquatic species. Only this gave me already an end game boost of 25 points 😃
@@angye1037 That's great!!! A close game with a strategy that really paid off! This is what was always buried in DG but never came to the fore using the first rulebook and the expansion really helps! Glad you connected so well with the game.

You won't be sorry - but ONLY play with the expansion - it gives the full impact. The base game seems like only 60% of the game now... = )
Do you feel the game is decently balanced with just the corporate bailout variant? Without including the expansion (exp is not available right now).
It is MORE balanced with the bailout for sure. HOWEVER, there are some games that to me the expansion 'becomes' the game so to speak - as in I couldn't imagine playing it without it because it brings so much to the game. For instance Fractures of Time is to me now Anachrony becoming what it always meant to be comes to mind. That being said put an alert on your computer for whenever the expansion DOES come out as you will NOT be disappointed.
@@justinandmaxgames5472 thanks for the info! I contacted the company for expansion availability and they said a reprint or maybe a new edition might come next year so I am going to wait. Got a big shelf of shame til then anyways lol
