I'm so blessed to have had the parents I have, given who I am and what I've been through, less enlightened parents could have really ruined me. Instead I've had almost nothing but support even when they don't understand. It's so moving to be told, even in an impersonal song that's only dedicated to us, that it's not my fault. I know it's not, but to have someone else believe that too means a lot.
Every person in this video is stunning and so different, the words each of them held up were not deserved. The bile and hatred spat out because someone dares to look a certain way, it’s so sad. This song is gorgeous. And my dear Voltaire, you are truly beautiful.
Everyone in this vid was all so lovely it hurts my heart to read their signs and feel the pain i felt as a kid i guess come back briefly :/ Love the song though

My mother told me the same thing, and I tried changeing my appearence as well. I both understand and relate to how you felt. Please remember that you are not alone in this, and that there is always at least one person in the world who has gone through the same struggles as you have.
P.S. I feel that it was very brave of you to speak about your experiance with such troubles online,.
The goth community is unfairly associated with trying to be weird for the sake of feeling noticed, and creating self-inflicted drama to justify angst from an otherwise privileged life. I've never been goth myself, but I understand this kind of judgement is very hurtful, and it presumes too much to be completely accurate. It invalidates genuine feelings of unwarranted isolation, as well as discourages people from breaking conventions, and being creative with their style and tastes. Make up isn't dishonest, it's simply a form of expression. As long you're all honest with your own needs and aspirations, no person can tear you down for long. Keep being you. And if you find that this style no longer serves you, find what does, and be the change you wish to see in the world.

Its all fear.. I wish there were more Goths , Mods, all the cool Subcultures that made The Bay area Great.
