    I've added different types of chains to various mowers over the past 20 years and have never had them go on easy. I wish they were this easy!

      I hope the next time you have to add them on, it will go easier for you

    This is a great instructional video!!! The only point I'd like to add is that I have found that if you roll the tractor back about two-thirds (2/3) instead of 1/2 way, you wind up working at the rear of the wheel/tire to link the chains together. This helps because then you're not trying to hold both ends from falling as you're trying to attach the ends. This way you'll have most of the chain on top, draped over and hanging down, it won't fall forward and all ya gotta do then is bring the bottom up to meet the top. Much, much easier! It's like having an extra pair of hands.

    Thanks for your mention of the bungee cord set. I purchased one off of Amazon, and it does really help.

    what model and make of front scoop/shovel you have on your craftsman..? I have LT1000 and looking for front scoop to fit...
    Any help is much appreciated...!

      The current craftsman tractor scoop sold at sears will fit your LT1000 just fine. I had it installed on my 2003 LT1000 a few years back and it did great.

      the bungee cords rot out pretty fast. I use a piece of 9 ga. wire , hook the ends together with a pair of pliers. keeps them forever.

    If you're making an instructional video for anything, PLEASE do it correctly. You have the chains on wrong. The barbs of the chains where they cross the tire tread and connect to the chain that runs the circumference of the tire need to be facing out so they don't wear holes in the sidewall of the tire. Basically you have the chains on upside down. Flip them over as they lay on the ground. That is the correct way to lay the chains out and to avoid destroying your tires. ALL SHARP AND?OR POINTY ENDS OR EDGES FACE OUT.

  • @vincebella3328
    @vincebella3328 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Why not jack up the rear end off the ground, it would be easy to then put the chains on better.

    • @FarpointFarms
      @FarpointFarms  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Sure would. But a lot of folks don't own them and this works just as well.

    • @MrSebesta
      @MrSebesta 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because you want the weight of the tractor on top of the chains as you drape them around the tire in order to hold the bottom area in place. If the tractor is up off the ground, the tire wants to turn every time you pull on the free end of the chains. Try it and you'll see what I mean.
