Thanks for the react man. If I didn't communicate it clearly enough in my video: WE WELCOME EVERYONE TO PATH OF EXILE. Come play, we'll do our best to help and become best friends with you. Great to see you giving the game a try, I hope you bring it to a bunch of new people, Rob! My title was good, wasn't it? ;)
Just don't do it on Reddit because I downvoted to hell for asking a simple question about itemization. I asked over there if someone can explain how an Unique found at low level can be used at end game? Systems like that are not beginner friendly and I have 3200 hours in PoE and without a guide I don't know how something with lower level stats can be useful in endgame builds.
It's an extremely small percentage of players that hate on the other game. Most intelligent people don't get involved in that crap. There is no room for such useless negativity. Most just want both to succeed or they simply don't care about the other.
I find that there is so many comments saying d4 bad but most of the people I encounter in game all love the game and have hundreds of hours. Vocal minority is destroying an other wise good game and honestly I really hope those that give unfettered hate will leave the community for those with genuine criticism or those who enjoy it.
The only people who could make this statement are David Brevick and Max Schaefer. Rod had nothing to do with the creation of anything about the Diablo universe or the launch of a new genre. GGG has taken the concept and created an incredible game. I hope POE 2 has great success.
exactly! back in the d1 and d2 days, when you call a game „diablo-like“ or „diablo-clone“ it was an honor, but nowadays „diablo-like“ will be compared to trash games d3 and d4 is a much more negative reputation, no one wants to have xD
D2 inspired POE and that was the OG Blizzard North devs who inspired them NOT the D3, D4 and certainly NOT Diablo Immortal devs/games. Rod isnt even part of Diablo 2 and its initial development and was only part of shtty downhill mess of D3 and D4. I bet he cant even explain how D4 mechanics and back systems works unlike GGG game directory Jonathan and Chris who really knows their game
@@paimog9233 shit talking them doesn’t help the slightest either… they are also people, not some robot. Blizzards scale is also much bigger than GGG. Grinding Gears works on one game and one game only, that’s POE. When the companies whole purpose is on 1 game then it’s pretty easy to put all the resource into it. Can critic a game harshly but shit talking devs and assuming they don’t care is very ignorant and pretty disrespectful.
I don't hateD4. I'm just sad and disappointed of all the missed opportunities. They should have taken many great things, which were there in D2 and D3 but they didn't. I am just a noob when it comes to PoE as I'v enever even finished the campaign. At the same time I am so hyped for PoE 2 and have already paid for early access. It will definitely take me a very long time to learn everything but I'm eagerly looking forward to it. Shame on Blizzard and well done GGG for pouring your heart and soul into PoE 2.
Those ppl who are new to D4 and not the hardcore or core ARPG genre - if they are the targeted players, the game itself will die and wont be worth to developing it - unless you have a Gread legacy and name and you put lots of cool skins for money - well those ppl will buy and make the Q1 and Q2 market good look - for investors - yet the game still will suck - Like D4.
Very strange Rod doesn't realize every arpg was "diablo like" until Blizzard damaged it with D3. Hell, back in early 2000 there was not even an arpg genre, it was only diablo like games.
Competition exists between 2 games that are trading blows. Poe 2 is just on another league alone does not need competition to succeed because there is vision compared to Diablo 4. Diablo needs competition because there is no vision.
The original founding members of grinding gear games all met playing diablo 2. They love diablo as much as all of us. Excited for POE2, hope you enjoy learning the game, it's seemingly a lot more approachable than POE1.
GGG themselves have stated MULTIPLE times on air that they were inspired by Diablo games - it's NO SECRET. The never hid this fact. What they didn't say was that they were INSPIRED by D2. Not D3/4 out of respect and diplomacy. Look @ D4 now. It's a FUCKING MESS. Given one class 10000000x the power to "sell' an expansion. Shameless and clueless that's why I had to uninstall it. I very much regret my purchase of the expansion.
They won't. Blizzard just want money now and their games are souless. People still not getting over them so they keep making money and keep on underdelivering.
@@SmHy23 have you met Blizz devs in person before? They are just as passionate about the game they work on as any other game dev. Being disrespectful to them is pretty ignorant and kinda a dick move. Every company wants money 🤣 GGG is owned by Tencent, trust me that if POE slips in anyway… Tencent will step in 🤣
It's not only blue and yellow items that are useless in D4, around 75% of uniques are useless and people only use maybe half of the Mythic items? Not sure what a good guess on aspects would be but I would guess at least 50% are useless. As long as D4 has all these ridiculous, out of control multipliers everywhere and it stays on this constant 3 month cycle of huge buff/nerf swings with the devs choosing what people will play nothing will change.
This will forever remain burned in my brain "Leaving dungeon's cast time increased from 3 seconds to 5 seconds". This insignificant line should tell you everything about diablo 4, everything.
Gamer dad here with 3 wives and 10 kids, I’m enticed to play POE but there is no way I’d engage in seasonal play. Ain’t no time for that and that’s fine. Slow progress through non-season would be the way to go for me.
Maybe these games just aren't for you? The games thrive on seasonal play if you don't have the time I totally get that but it's kinda why the games remain relevant at the same time
Personally, I'm tired of all the grinding in D4, I realize that every ARPG will require a lot of grinding. But what I hate is the gambling style of upgrading your gear. I'm sick of grinding of obdecite only to fail in upgrading my gear. All that time with nothing to show for. From tempering, to masterworking, the odds of getting what you want is slim at best without hours and hours of grinding. I would rather work (grind) for something tangible, grind for something that i know will come to fruition, as long as I grind the necessary materials to make the gear i need, I don't want to grind for hours and because of bad RNG nothing to show for. And every season it takes more time, and less chances to get what you want, to say it simply, it's so hard to get what you want, and every season it becomes even harder.
The ironic thing is none of this needed to happen. I personally think the original itemization system would have been fine if they had just given us a loot filter, then we could have just been excited when a good item dropped which was exactly what they wanted in the first place. Their refusal has led to this gacha-game of tempering and masterworking that turns the game into a crafting simulator
I plan on playing both, ironically i bought early access before logging on d4 last night (on xbox) and immediately rolled a quad boosted shroud its almost like blizzard knew
@@derekreed4910 Consoles? No POE2 works great on controller from what we have heard, It might be too deep for many players, but thats fine it does not need to be suited for every player base or demographic.
@@derekreed4910well poe1 on console was broken(might still be) so hopefully it isn't because console is a huge market. I doubt we'll be playing together well I hope wr aren't because that's the issue with d4 anf why it stutters so much. The cross play. You turn it off and it stops.
im Paragon 252 currentlly, but i met a player the other day and he was paragon 30 and hadnt left normal difficulty, no legendaries, nno tempers, just bunch random unigues. he was having fun but also hadnt finished the campaign. i was trying to explain simple things to him but he just didnt listen. lol ppl play how they want, its great both these games offer similair game play with different levels of depth. cant wait for POE2
This topic is so goofy and immature. We all just want our favourite IPs to live up to the modern expectations, Diablo or otherwise, but the whining is pathetic and itll just make the devs hate the players
i hear excitement for the upcoming PoE 2 but i am worried just like Zana! Zana: Are you still sane Exile? Zana: But at least you're done now, right, Exile? You'll leave the Atlas alone... right? On to The Endless Loop of mapping and Bossing!
If Blizz would have nerfed SB earlier, it'd have been better. Instead, you have 60% of the playerbase playing SB and blasting literally everything in a fraction of the time. You also had players who were playing the other classes feeling burned in all activities because of how blatantly weak they were in comparison and how irrelevant they were in a majority of these activities because of SBs overwhelming ability. That being said. D4 is not a bad game. PoE2 will be another successful arpg for sure but will remain niche. You can be sure of it.
The thing is.. If by "Diablo-like" they mean Diablo 4, then PoE is not Diablo-like.. But if by "Diablo-like" they mean Diablo 2, then Diablo 4 is not, infact, Diablo-like..
I will play, and enjoy both games. Such as I have enjoyed LE launch. People should just stop being so polarised on everything. Have your fun, let others have theirs, no need to be judgemental if I like something more. This is highly subjective, can change over time. Diablo 4 has its own problems, PoE 2 might have its own, and it's totally ok. Stay on the positive note guys.
@@joeychizzel Understand that, but I made my comment for reasonable people, like you for example, and not just clickbait eaters, or surface emotion consumers :)
Dude I’ve played D4 every season. I’ve spent a decent about of money on it as well. Hate aside, you can still be objective. And objectively the game is just rough. They kinda turned it into D3 with more things to do and whether it was intentional or not? I’m not sure.
@@MrxLethal I think it was a natural turn, after D2 playerbase left unsatisfied with game paste, and mechanics. The only audience left is most of D3 fanbase, and newcomers now.
Only D4 season I didn’t play was season 5 - but I’m 100% done with D4. The devs are completely incompetent and lazy. Only good builds are bugged builds and 95% of builds are not viable and zero endgame content. All the content is trivial and just to farm mats to kill bosses. After watching the POE trailer I know it will be a very easy decision. It’s not even close. If blizzard fires their devs and get some real gamers to develop the game and completely revolutionize it I’ll come back.
In these times of divisive politics, farming outrage and causing division appears to be a common trend, someone in Rod's position should be ashamed of themself. There are players who are very disappointed with Blizzard and D4, considering the price paid for the title. Sadly Rod is riding on the coat tails of D2 which was developed by Blizzard North RIP.
What has always been shocking to me is Blizz’s insistence on completely moving away from the gameplay, systems, itemization, and concepts that made D2 the GOAT. They literally tossed everything Brevik and Schaeffer did into the trash and have had to rediscover how to make an inferior ARPG using the Diablo name twice now. For example, how the hell does D4 not have a robust crafting system by now? All they had to do was refine and build upon D2 and instead they’ve been spinning their wheels for two decades
You do realize Diablo isn’t Blizzards main source of income right? It’s a portion but not the biggest nor the main income… it’s also no where close as big of a team as their main game.. ie. WoW
I love the diablo series and in D4 I spent more than 200€, but I'm very disappointed by Blizzard's lack of desire to improve it so even if at the beginning I didn't want to pay 30€ for ea of poe 2 now I'm convinced to buy it to support the GGG because they deserve it from what the streamers say I want to trust them. PS. Poe 2 won't come out in my language, but I'll buy it anyway even if I don't speak English well 😁
I spent a little bit of money on D4 as well hoping it would get better. I think it was just wishful thinking. I’m not really sure if the D4 team really know what they want the game to be. It took D3 25+ seasons to finally feel good. Let’s hope that’s not the case for D4…
I’m curious what happened to the Vitrol aimed at Last Epoch because everybody was comparing that to LE but since that lost steam on social media nobody talks about it. But yea the point is most people aren’t reading comments who play Diablo 4 anyways. In the end it’s money and quarter earnings that matter for the further development of these games. The Chinese Diablo player base is enough to prop the game as it’s doing with Diablo immortal so that’s fine. Competition is great
Its very simple imo for comparison - POE2 is not focused on just MONEY like blizzard is. Blizzard released their game approximately a year early just for the sake of money and getting money where GGG is taking the time to do it right and not focused solely on money.... When you focus on a good game vs money everyone wins.
Played d4 since launch and there is a sad truth to describe the game: unfinished. Dont get me wrong its since original Diablo when I was a kid that for me arpg means Diablo, but from 3 and then 4 wasnt just the same feelings for me. Maybe because I'm aging and have a bit of nostalgia, dont know. Hope PoE2 will be a friendly game to delve into. But let me say somethings good to the D4 team: art, cinematics, musics, there is no way GGG will surpass those 3 branches of the game, ever. But they did for sure about gameplay
"Hope PoE2 will be a friendly game to delve into." When I started someone gave me the best tip that now I give to anyone wanting to jump into PoE. It will be friendly as long as you don't try to take all its multiple systems all at once. Do the opposite and take one at a time. Test all the classes, pick the one that ressonated with you the most and stick with it. Then test a couple of skills, test them as well and pick one or 2 you find fun to play with. And that's it for your first choices as an Exile. The passive skill tree is often mentioned as intimidating because of its size. Sure, if you zoom out and look at its entirelly, it is massive. But when start just focus on the starting nodes and picking up what makes sense to you having in mind the class and skill you chose. The passive tree is the same for all classes, they just start in different locations of it. So the starting nodes should all synergize well with what you picked as your starter. Same principle with your items. Then you go from there, no need to overthink anything at the start. Before you know, you will be quite deep in the passive tree, the things that might not have made much sense on day 1 will feel quite familiar at this point and you will have a functional build. Will it be the best build? Not even close, but it will be good enough to keep you going, learning the game and progressing. This early access will last 6 months with no seasons, so no resets. Take the game at your own pace, one thing at a time and you should be fine and probably will enjoy the game a lot. If you get stuck at any point, just ask the community in game chat, you'll be surprised how many people will try to help. Wish you the best of luck and that the game provides you the thousands of hours of fun PoE 1 provided me!
I agree. Its like elementary school vs university. You dont want to send your children to uni straigh away but learn the basics but you will overgrown those quite fast and there is more in the world.
sad thing is diablo 4 could of been so much more if they added real runewords and not this dumbed down version of it on top of not having nowhere near a great endgame a year in. poe 2 early access already has a better end game and more classes on top of way more builds. blizzard needs to take notes on how unique the skills are in poe 2 and poe1 and do they own thing with it.
I think it mostly revolves around Blizzard being a Multi-billion dollar company and CAN'T pump out content at a fraction of the pace of GGG. I think that's one major thing that pisses people off. I genuinely think people want Diablo to be "good" but after seeing all the stuff GGG puts out, it gives people little hope for Blizzard to compete. I know Blizzard has stated they want a more casual friendly game, but honestly I think that's a coping mechanism knowing fully well they can't compete. 🙃
Diablo also isn’t their main focus… you can clearly see last BlizzCon that their sole main focus is not Diablo nor Overwatch… WoW has pretty much been their biggest focus and where most of their resources goes into.
I doubt they even need to compete. There are still people playing D4… people are still going to jump back and forth in between POE leagues 😂 it’s not like this is the end all be all game for the genre…
You don't need to manually swap weapons anymore. Instead, when setting up a skill, you can assign it to either Weapon Swap 1 or 2. Once that's done, casting the skill will automatically switch both your weapon and passive configuration. It makes the whole process much more seamless-and even more powerful!
I'm already passed 30 and I really seen it all... Played with all... for example high level of D2, and yes there was always dupe and lot of bugs. We accepted it, without complaining. We enjoyed the way it was. No matter D2, WoW, POE no game will be satisfaction for lot of players. I already learned to value my time and not invest it for endless content game like POE and WoW (I did it, this is how I learned it.). Belive me, sometimes less content is more. D4 is far from perfect, but they are really listening you, whatever you want...arnory, class balance, you name it. No point to blame it, you have the chance to tell them how would you like to play it. The problem is not in the games, it is in your endless dissatisfaction.
There has to be good competition in order for better games to be made. Hopefully, Blizzard will see just how much hard work GGG has put into POE 2 and will take notes to make a better diablo games, not to mention POE 2 is a friggen free game.
I play both games but I think this is overblown. I think Rob was saying that he aspires to have a Diablo formula that others want to follow. Timing was bad maybe, but d4 is not a bad game. It just needs better content. The framework is amazing and the combat is smooth. Diablo was ruined buy corporate money greed, but Diablo could win its customers back. I don’t know if they will fix the endgame, but I don’t think rods statement was as incendiary as everyone is making it out to be. This is just another version of d4 bad
So, if you don't have thousands of hours to spend on a game or if you want to play other games, it's better to stay on Diablo4, right? I am not sarcastic, this is genuine question because the game looks incredible but intimidating. I only want to spend 2-3 weeks and return after some months, I like this formula.
I just think there's a point of clarification about this idea of "fighting with the D4 player base". Nobody is upset with D4 players. BLIZZARD, and Activision, have spent a decade plus causing negative headline after negative headline, abusing their employees, and ruining one after another cherished gaming franchise through ENTIRELY THEIR OWN DECISIONS. They've become short hand for terrible gaming industry decisions, malfeasance, and naked short sighted greed. They're a trash pile. People don't want to dunk on D4 players. They want to dunk on Blizz. 🤷♂️
I think this is what a lot people seem to misunderstand, when people say stuff like 'D4 bad', they're not going after the people playing D4 but rather Blizzard for completely ruining a beloved franchise. D3 was already a lost cause but people had high hopes for D4, and I can hardly recall the last time a game failed to live up to expectations to this degree and that isn't the fault of the players, but rather Blizzard themselves. Think it's just shown that the only Blizzard that could actually create ARPG's were Blizzard North/Condor Studios which got shut down by Blizzard's parent company Vivendi back in 2005.
@@ArcticunI would say different… I have seen plenty of PoE players being hella toxic in D4 streamers chat. Calling names, telling them that they are dumb for playing a game. It actually made me not want to play POE a lot of the times… the tribalism is so stupid
Maybe there's some kind of way for you, to cover a bit of PoE 2's content on a live talk with Jonathan Rogers himself ? I'm pretty sure he would gladly have that kind of promotion, with such a big Arpg content creator like the one you're 👍🏼
I've played POE 1 a few years ago and it was stressful. I like diablo 4 because it was simple. While I do like the look of POE 2, I am afraid it might be too complicated like POE 1. At the same time, I do agree D4 is starting to feel grindy and boring with the lack of end-game content.
They shouldn't be worried. People that already don't enjoy POE aren't going to enjoy POE2. It's still basically the same game. D4 has a massive playebase compared to Path. POE2 will get a big bump in early Dec, and then most people will say "oh yea, this is why I dont play POE". Then it'll go back to being a niche game for the hard-core players. Nothing wrong with that either.
It's not tribalism , I never played Poe in my life. I'm just tired after 18 months of Diablo 4 and keep saying that next time everything will finally be fixed. Its a mid game and they keep screwing things up. The talent tree's are a joke and most of the game is an insult of peoples intellgence like where a bunch of 5 year olds that only played Pokemon as our only rpg. On top of that Blizzard has been making bad content for a good while now atleast 5-8 years and to top of it of its clearly all about the money now , 90 bucks mounts overpriced armor sets and nothing cool ingame and the list goes on. I would play both if both where really good games but this is simply not the case so i'm moving on , there are allot of good games why play something you don't like? Maby Poe2 will be bad aswell than ill quit both but so far what they have shown completly nukes Diablo 4 for me and many others have made this same comment. Blizzard had there chance if mcdonald gives you a food poisoning 5 times in a row and you get yelled at every time you wont come back eather. GGG seems to make games for gamers , Blizzard is corporate company run by the wrong people simple as that ;)
@deadjosh13 Hate? Did you even watched the video? its Your D4 Rod who cant contain his jelously and wanted his shtty D4 game recognition to make poe "diablo-like" even his not even part of the legacy Blizzard north has originality established. Rod is cying in jelousy and ur here worried about ur job as Blizzards dog
If I remember correctly, Path of Exile's name comes from the runeword Exile in Diablo 2. It has been NO secret POE devs are HEAVILY inspired by the GOAT, d1&d2.
Competition works only if the leaders of the companies acknowledge the competitors, if they think their product is on another category, there is no competition. Sadly, nobody saying anything about LE (even devs), competition in 3 it would have been so good as a consumer having the option to choose the best option anytime during the year depending on games cycles.
The problem is that the PoE1 and PoE2 are more Diablo-like than D4. How many current Blizzard devs were even playing D2? 5% 0%? They have no idea how to create a Diablo-like game anymore. I like to play D4 from time to time and nothing more because there is no content to keep me for longer. There is 0 depth in this game starting from SkillTree and finishing with EndGame activities. But hey... We play for FUN, so play what you enjoy most.
It's crazy that Blizzard had the greatest rpg of all-time: D2 Lod (where the literal PoE Devs met & take inspiration from) - And they refused to expand and improve upon that base. The fact they dropped the itemization from D2 should be an actual crime lol. D4 is okish - I've played it a lot, but I didn't really have much options. Now with fresh start for PoE I'm definitely giving it a try🙏
POE and D4 have completely different audiences. POE is for no-lifer farmers that can play for 1000 hours and develop complex builds. D4 is for Noobs/Advance players who like to relax, blow up some monsters and move on. In D4 i managed to do pit 150 like Rob, in POE id never achieve as much as pro players and players dont like that
exactly, this whole niche of gaming is weird to me because im mainly a counter strike player. ive never played wow or any other mmo, d4 was my first arpg. it just seems so incredibly neckbeardy, poe fans talking about how you can play thousands of hours and how much you have to use your brain etc. poe doesnt require any additional intelligence or mental elasticity, it requires a lot of research and learning. the idea that that is inherently better is wild to me. i like d4 because it looks good, plays good on a controller, and i can just chill and smoke bowls while hanging out with friends. i can also farm it with a podcast on in the background if i have nothing to do during the day etc. if i wanna sit at my desk and try hard at something ill play cs2, an actual competitive game that actually takes a lot of brain power, im not gonna sit at my desk for 10 hours a day to play a PVE horde killing game lol, who the fuck does that? and why do they think theyre better than the rest of the world?
Blizzard's story is the same as so many large corporations. The shareholder and employee bargaining power become more important than the game and its players. It needs to crash so it can be rebuilt from scratch.
Argueing over certain topics is an age old thing, probably going back to the neanderthals, who fought over who has the bigger stick or the shiniest stone. It's a thing in all areas of life, it will never change.
7:04 I get why we could give him the benefit of the doubt here, but Blizzard has a history of doing this as a business model. I remember how WoW reveals, betas und similiar stuff would always match up with their MMO competition "for some reason".
I would really like to see Blizzard take some inspiration from GGG and PoE1/2. I would like to see D4 take more risks and add mechanics/content for the hardcore and not be so focused on just the casual audience. It already has a very low barrier of entry and anyone can easily complete all content. I play both games at every season launch but D4 rarely sticks for as long as a PoE season, would love to see that change
This is an issue that other devs have to the never improve on what was good for the next game or a new game they make a new game and everything that was good just disappears for the new game. Shit is so sad that devs do this
If that means they felt D4 may have been hugely unpolished then they had plenty of time to polish it instead of floundering around to find the Eureka moment.
Based on how the game is today, over 1 year after release, i doubt it would change anything. Just like ^ above said, polishing a turd for x time will not turn it into a candy, just a more shiny turd. This game's core design is just terrible. It was made with the intention of being a simple game that looks pretty and sells as many copies as possible with gimmicks. PoE 2's gameplay trailer showed that each weapon has 20+ active skills, and there are like 10+ weapon types. A huge amount of various support skills to alter them + unique items with unique mechanics + passive skill nodes that do the same. Now compare it to D4's skill tree, 1 class has like a few core skills to make builds around and a few uniques per class, with many of them being straight up useless, lol. It's just a game for toddlers in comparison.
Console wars, companies war, and then fanboys war. I don’t like it at all. As an older gamer I own all consoles and have a high end PC. I play everything. I’ve played all Diablo games and I’ve played POE. I play Diablo because it fits my play style. POE is awesome I just choose to play Diablo more. I will give POE2 a try. What Blizzard needs to do is listen to its players. As a live service game what’s the problem. Give us what we’ve been asking for. How come at this stage we get excited for an Armory?! How come there’s people who still haven’t gotten an Uber Unique? I’m glad POE is coming because it seems a drop off from its installed base, maybe is what Diablo 4 needs.
Preach! Diablo 4 team has been able to sit back and not improve the game with a sense of urgency because there was no competition to lose players to. Now, hopefully we’ll see them improve the game faster 👍
the creators of d2 left a long time ago for ggg, that's why poe 2 is brilliant and diablo 4 is so poor. Blizzard is just a name, there are no creative people there
I think the diablo devs just don’t know what they want the game to be. I was hoping they’d slow the game down, not have scaling in the billions and not have legendaries drop like D3. Instead, they basically made D4 exactly like D3 except you have more things to do. They weren’t even creative with new skills. The abilities don’t even change you can just cast more or make them larger. So many character skills are directly ripped from D3.
The problem with Diablo 4 is developers that thinks that fun endgame is a slow paragon grind and that mythic uniques should be easier to get than ancestral legendary items. And that it's fun that skills like whirlwind is doing zero damage and dust devils are doing all the damage. They should change the skill name from whirlwind to dust devils and remove the spin effect. The always mess up. The game was getting better and now it's worse than ever.
What I don‘t understand is that people just can‘t enjoy that what looks like an awesome game is coming out. Something esls has to be going down or „be in trouble“. F***ing drama has to be everywhere.
Missed opportunity on the "Jake vs Mike Tyson = PoE2 vs Diablo4" photo to have the ring girl there in the middle as yourself 😂 PoE2 hype! Counting the days here. I really hope you dive into PoE2 Rob. If so, I will for sure tune in to your stream! I used to watch you a lot for the (short) amount of time I thought D4 was interesting but now I just have no interest in watching D4 content.
I can't wait to play POE2! It's going to be awesome! I'm not going to use its release to bash D4. I have 1300 hours into D4. Hopefully it makes the Diablo devs cook a little harder though. Can't wait to see what they fire back with!
Game development doesn't have to be something new and fresh to be good, take what works well and expand on that. Take Laszlo Biro for example. Something everyone uses but there are so many variations. Blizzard needs to be like Laszlo...GGG has embraced the opportunity to become Laszlo-esque.
Rouge like is named that way because of the specific gameplay loop of Rouge (1985) -- play, die, start over (with new level layout). "Diablo like" doesn't work because the gameplay loop is better defined as ARPG -- real time action, role playing game. If the naming convention was based off of Diablo 1's skill book system, or Diablo 2's skill tree/itemization, then you might have an argument. But then you run into the issue that most Diablo games wouldn't even be called "Diablo like" they would be "Diablo lite" (Rouge like -> Rouge lite) --lite meaning they have a very surface level connection to the genre but are changed too much.
i am a big fan and Bias of PoE but my Favorite game Ever is diablo 2. I spent countless hours in d2 and i think my playtime in PoE is getting closer if not has already passed the hours i played with diablo 2. I enjoyed the diablo 2 Classic pre LoD. My weapons were rare competing against other barbs who were also using rare weapons also. The measures of how much these weapons goes for are in SoJ's or Stone of Jordan unique rings. we do not have runes or act 5 back then.
It seems to that if Blizzard was really listening to its player base and actively making the game good instead of supplying bandaids and taking their sweet time on things that are overwhelmingly requested, blizzard wouldn’t be going thru this. Unfortunately their false confidence in thinking they can keep a player base off name alone will bite them in the bum because a lot of players will not return. Way to self sabotage a potentially good game blizzard!
Rod Ferguson needs to realize kids like variety, like a open sandbox game like fortnite where u can get any combination to build in it. The size of D4 sandbox is the size of a kitty litter box
I loved D2 and never found the same enjoyment in D3 nor D4, despite owning and playing both (no hate, just didn't found them as fun). Also never got into poe1 due to thinking the time investment would be too big. Now super hyped for poe2 and wondering if it will be the arpg I've been craving since D2.
I'm not spending anymore $$ on D4 until we can get more end-game content. I'll spend it on POE2 instead. I will play both games though, I still enjoy the Seasonal stuff in D4, but they are always so short, and we run out of things to do fast. I hope POE2 can help me in that department. :)
Yessss we need more competition but... We also need that companies that do scummy practices get punished and blizzard is just harvesting that they planted... All that hate doesnt come for free.
The most innovative bug free polished game, that gives me the most fun and challenge will get my play time and money. May the best team win! Also eye candy is important
Here is the thing that gets me, Its Rod Ferguson that is saying this... The man didnt work on Diablo 2. He has worked on, and struggled, to take D4 out of a beta stage, bc if you need a year to fix a game its still a beta, and he wants to say that things Should be called "Diablo-like". He has nothing to do with the success of D2. He doesnt acknowledge that POE 2 for an EA, is stunning, and rather than say something constructive like, "we could learn some things", or even Good Job, glad to see another ARPG, he decides to rub salt, and create a scene. They ignore feedback until they have no choice. The world of Diablo is great, amazing lore, but its people like Rod that are sinking the ship. His statement is very unprofessional. The problem now is, D4 can't change, and it won't, because to bring D4 up to where it is considered competitive now, would require a whole new game and honestly, if POE 2 is as accessible for casual players now, Im not sure D4 will be able to recover, unless they massively change their price points, because I know I will NEVER pay again what I paid for D4 for another Diablo game. I feel like I got ripped off the past year. I think as more players see this, and explore the idea of POE, I just dont think Diablo 4 will get away with many more mistakes.
As long as POE2 doesn't develop a season based system like Diablo where your character is basically obsolete after a few months, I will do what I can to enjoy both games 😁🙌🏼 right now I am still crashing on Diablo so I will see what POE2 has to offer on December 6th
there's no competition , they can both be good. Thats why so many people prefer seasonal than permanent league , because i can switch between all of these arpg. Sadly D4 is bad so now i can just rotate between POE1 and POE 2
My title was good, wasn't it? ;)
Thanks for the friendly welcome, you are the 0.42% who do that.
Honestly my favorite moments in poe was grouping up with new players and helping them out, veteran players don’t really socialize and just rush.
@@Zederok Reddit is cancer, there are some decent people who can help elsewhere.

It's an extremely small percentage of players that hate on the other game. Most intelligent people don't get involved in that crap. There is no room for such useless negativity. Most just want both to succeed or they simply don't care about the other.
D4BAD
I find that there is so many comments saying d4 bad but most of the people I encounter in game all love the game and have hundreds of hours. Vocal minority is destroying an other wise good game and honestly I really hope those that give unfettered hate will leave the community for those with genuine criticism or those who enjoy it.
People want to have fun and not blow a gasket when you Temper the same affix 18 times in a row🫤
@ this has only happened to me like 3 ish times this season. I see what you’re saying but I just don’t think this is much of an issue.
No, Diablo is not nice for own communty. They always late for everything. No planning, no good working. Diablo can not success for Diablo4.
The only people who could make this statement are David Brevick and Max Schaefer. Rod had nothing to do with the creation of anything about the Diablo universe or the launch of a new genre. GGG has taken the concept and created an incredible game. I hope POE 2 has great success.
Rod is the actual prime evil that we should eradicate
exactly! back in the d1 and d2 days, when you call a game „diablo-like“ or „diablo-clone“ it was an honor, but nowadays „diablo-like“ will be compared to trash games d3 and d4 is a much more negative reputation, no one wants to have xD
Brevik helped Poe with ideas , not wondering the game is that good. Also Rod is simply retarded at this point.
Well yeah, until D3..... You even said it yourself... POE Is more diablo than diablo and would now be POE like
Competition assumes the opposition cares.
Not technically. Competition doesn't require opposition to acknowledge it. It's on the latter to recognize the risk of former existence.
Diablo devs have long known about PoE's popularity lol.
there wasn't any competition, Rob.
Same thing that every shooter was inspired by Doom or all cars evolved from the Model T, build it bigger better faster.
@@laars0001 Model T was not first car dude,it was mercedes
@ you get my drift...
Like they even need to acknowledge it. All isometric ARPGs in this vein are inspired by Diablo.
Pretty sure they have said they were inspired by Diablo 2, specifically.
d4 lost by K.O in round 1
D4 couldn’t even make weight to compete in the fight
and the Fight didnt even started yet xD
Without competition you can not improve, I'm a Diablo fan and i hope POE will be amazing so Diablo improves more and more.
This insignificant line should tell you everything about diablo 4, everything.
also that it was added as a "quality of life" update lmao
No Diablo in a Diablo game. No Mephisto in a Mephisto xpac. D4BAD
Gamer dad here with 3 wives and 10 kids, I’m enticed to play POE but there is no way I’d engage in seasonal play. Ain’t no time for that and that’s fine. Slow progress through non-season would be the way to go for me.
You can if you focus on solo and not coop.
I wonder if poe2 will be too advanced for consoles. I hope not because I'm done with PC gaming

They KNEW Rob, don't ever doubt it Blizz KNEW.
Yeah, Blizz in no way knew the reveal date of GGG. LOL....just impossible for them to get this information.🤣🤣
Im just glad there are other ARPGs we are all looking forward to. This will also hopefully push Blizzard to do better. Competition is good!

All they had to do was refine and build upon D2 and instead they’ve been spinning their wheels for two decades
lmao the faces at blizzard would be priceless when they watched PoE 2 video, not one person wouldn't wanna see there faces right now.
You do realize Diablo isn’t Blizzards main source of income right? It’s a portion but not the biggest nor the main income… it’s also no where close as big of a team as their main game.. ie. WoW
I'm looking forward to POE 2. But I am also a D4 fan. I want both to succeed and grow to become better for all
I love the diablo series and in D4 I spent more than 200€, but I'm very disappointed by Blizzard's lack of desire to improve it so even if at the beginning I didn't want to pay 30€ for ea of poe 2 now I'm convinced to buy it to support the GGG because they deserve it from what the streamers say I want to trust them.
But they did for sure about gameplay
those three elements are the most expensive yet destroyed by the cheapest element. 😂
Wait till POE2 isn’t finished and see what happens. It’s free with an asterisk.
I think most old school diablo1 people feel exactly like you do. But poe2 can also beat d4 in art, cinematics and musics too
lmao, you know nothing about poe music and art and it shows. search a bit about poe1 music and when u find kamil, come back here and edit your post
This is the only community besides gacha games that makes more content or argues about the “other” game.
There has to be good competition in order for better games to be made. Hopefully, Blizzard will see just how much hard work GGG has put into POE 2 and will take notes to make a better diablo games, not to mention POE 2 is a friggen free game.
Base might be free… but it’s not “FREE”. 😂
Wrong, D4 is a joke of a ‘’game’’
Is timing wasn't bad. He tweeted that the same day that ARPG gendra changed with that trailer.
@@SmHy23 go jerk off on someone else comment. It’s good looking game. We got it already

It seems poe is better for content creators since the people chasing their builds won't have the time investment to keep up with them.
So, if you don't have thousands of hours to spend on a game or if you want to play other games, it's better to stay on Diablo4, right?
I am not sarcastic, this is genuine question because the game looks incredible but intimidating. I only want to spend 2-3 weeks and return after some months, I like this formula.
Then stay with d4 it's Made for brainless noobs anyway
Even if you enjoyed your time in season 6 it will be stale green moldy bread by December 6th. 2 months till witchcraft powers.

GGG seems to make games for gamers , Blizzard is corporate company run by the wrong people simple as that ;)
I played POE1 and it was great but a bajillion other shiny new games came out and distracted, time to go back check it out.
look Pokemon is a hugely complicated game, its just very accessible, just like poe2 will be :)
Its a joy to see POE2 out at last. Only one thing will make this better, you making content for it :)

Rod wasn't trying to fight though. He was making an excuse for the state of their game and lack of improvement.
Bout time we have a game made by gamers for gamers. We need more competition.
It's a thing in all areas of life, it will never change.
we don't "go back" to the neanderthals, buddy - we did not evolve from neanderthals, as Darwin would know 🤓
Competition is good, it's what drives innovation. Innovate or die.
Shit is so sad that devs do this
They have been massively inspired by Diablo said numerous times and had the OG diablo devs at Exile Con
Yes. diablo 2. the the best diablo. nothing from after that.
diablo 2, not the dogwater that followed (d3, d4, and diablo:immoral)
Blizzard North devs to be exact not the D3, D4/current Blizzard
I thought I heard rumors of D4 being pushed back until Summer 2024. Do you think they should have done that?. We would be on season 1 right now.
If that means they felt D4 may have been hugely unpolished then they had plenty of time to polish it instead of floundering around to find the Eureka moment.
polishing a turd for 1 more year will only result in a polished turd
@ you’re right. Now I’m definitely going to play because they’ve made a lot of money off of players not to listen to them.
the creators of d2 left a long time ago for ggg, that's why poe 2 is brilliant and diablo 4 is so poor.
If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of Giants
3:59 And it kept on coming, and it kept on coming, and it kept on coming day and night, Uaaaa uaaaaaaaaa UAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!
- Oh my God !!!!
I say let the companies battle, because in the end, it will be the consumers who win as each one tries to outdo the other.
GGG owes Blizzard/Diablo nothing. They improved the genre whereas Blizzard completely lost the plot and dont listen to the people playing thier game.
Blizzard: the vessel of hatred is PoE 2
As long as POE2 doesn't develop a season based system like Diablo where your character is basically obsolete after a few months, I will do what I can to enjoy both games 😁🙌🏼 right now I am still crashing on Diablo so I will see what POE2 has to offer on December 6th
poe is also a seasonal game, i havent seen anybody say poe2 wont be.
@facE055 Well seeing as how the endgame content is going to be over a thousand hours that's really going to suck 🤣🤣
there's no competition , they can both be good.
Thats why so many people prefer seasonal than permanent league , because i can switch between all of these arpg.
Sadly D4 is bad so now i can just rotate between POE1 and POE 2
