Didn't McGrath do this to Honda back in the day. I think he stayed on the '94 frame for 2 or 3 years and finally left Honda over the Aluminum frame issue.
yeah. KTM was very rigid (pun?) regarding the hardware Coop et al. could use in 2023. funny story is that KTM group riders this year are allowed the freedom to choose the stuff Cooper was asking for. Hampshire was talking about it on PulpMX last week.
It was the '93 frame/chassis, and he rode that until Honda tried to force him onto the '97 aluminum frame, which he refused. That ended a very successful business relationship.
I was at a training facility my buddy was running when Ken came over here and was still contracted with Zook. He was testing the KTM that day and no cameras were allowed. It was cool to see him in his beginnings here. He was doing Windham style transfers on the track that no one else would attempt to do. He almost ran me over when I was helping water the track too. Doh!
There has never been another racer like Coop. Top 15 could ride right by in the whoops but nobody turns a tighter, faster line in the corners. He’s never the fastest guy on the track but finds a way to out race everyone. Whoever in the world thought he was done, is wrong. Nobody has more grit and there is no greater thief (from stealing guys trophies and checks, to stealing their girls).
If anyone was that short they can turn like him, that is why he can’t deal with the big boys outside, super cross is nothing good except for the bottom dollar for who?
There was a line at Detroit right after the first turn corner and coop was the only one consistently absolutely nailing the rhythm section from tight inside
Coop has been my favorite racer since he was on a 250....dude's race IQ is second to none....all aboard the Webb Wagon boys....his consistency is gonna put the pressure on Jett....let's go Coop!!
Totally agree. The more I see him lately the more I like him. He's always scrapping for it including pushing too hard at times. Hope it pays off for him!!
@@NCtrailXOh yes definitelly. Plus Imho this dude grew a lot mentally which as we all can see pays him off. Matured, decided, concentrated, knowing his worth.
I think it would sell a lot of motorcycles if everyone knew that a top level rider preferred the stock version. Even better if it helped his confidence and he was winning more.
When the stock frame is better than what the super needs are tinkering with… go with what feels good to the rider, or be Decoster, “we let the riders do too much as far as what direction they wanted the bike to go” “I see you got them snakes and sparklers, but where’s the good stuff?” “We only have the snakes and sparklers because those are the only ones I like”
I'm a big Cooper fan, He has the right mind set for a run up to maybe second in the championship and think he made the right move to Yam but Ktm isn't hurting, they sit one and three in the points right now with Webb in fourth. It appears Jett is on the verge of pulling ahead. So in my opinion Webb will need to beat Sexton and everyones cowboy to make it the right move, to Yam. Good show!
Coop is my fukin guy. He’s never been scared to tell it like it is. Also, it says something when you’re not even close to the fastest guy but you’re still in everyone’s head every race.
If you watch the beginning of the TH-cam Short, Villo knew damn well about that situation……just look at how red is face was….not to mention that shit eating grin he had when you were asking about it 🤭😏
I'm 100% sure in my own head it was Jeffrey Herlings testing at Star. All his KTM/Red Bull posts were removed from his social media, Tom Vialle just announced he was going to America (everyone knows the Bullet want to go to America but can't....), he was back from injury, almost every US rider was accounted for, and if it was Webb riding, surely they would've had a couple more people there
Everyone keeps saying he struggled last year? He didn't like the bike, yes but wasn't he only a couple points behind tomac when he got hurt? 3rd to last round
@@sawtoothscream1521 I know, I was just implying that people who say he "struggled" mean he got hurt, maybe. (as in, struggling to complete the season). Because he was clearly very fast and not struggling until that happened imo.
It was me, they closed down the entire facility so I could ride the 450z. Sorry everyone but due to my mammoth ball sack I felt too cramped on the Yamaha and decided to sign with Stacyc instead.
Believe me , it was coop . Put 2 and 2 together. He's the only one that wasn't penciled in on a ride that they would actually want. Plus read the subtitle on the thumbnail . Gypsy basically tellin ya who they're talkin about
I'm 100% certain (in my own head) it's was Jeffrey Herlings, I commented up here as well that at the time Tom Vialle (team-mate at the time) had just announced he's going to the US (Herlings has stated he wants to go but is not allowed), ALL social media posts having KTM/Red Bull where removed
The only way coop is beating Jett and chase is if those two allow him too. They are on different levels speed wise. But if they can’t mentally handle it that’s when coop sneaks in there
did some bloodwork or something. gawd, he looked like a dog when he came back from the concussion. good to know there was a medical reason that could be treated. he really looks different now. keeps the series competitive.
Yes it’s payed off kinda but don’t forgot he won 2 championships on ktm… maybe this new 2024.5 new frame would have solved all his problems… he does look especially good but like RV said new mindset seems to want it more now or never mind re set. He is one fire but only time will tell for that championship
theyre oobv talking about Chase or AP, and prolly not AP...it was Chase Sexton...ive heard the rumors. thats why you hear him keep down talking the KTM..he hates it.
It never even came to mind, but yeah! That makes the most sense. I'm thinking the only big name that would even want to change is Jett, but RedBull is very limiting. Tomac and Coop already ride for Star, Roczen, Anderson and Chase seem happy and/or have just changed. I've heard that Prado has already made a deal to stay and it's not with Gas Gas/KTM/Husqvarna. It has to be Prado.
Man this interviewer does most of the talking. I don’t get it. I tune in to hear what his guest’s hot takes are and all I’m hearing is the host… so frustrating
I can't wait to watch the 3hr interview with RV over the next week! Only had time for this right now. Sweet
Didn't McGrath do this to Honda back in the day. I think he stayed on the '94 frame for 2 or 3 years and finally left Honda over the Aluminum frame issue.
96 frame
yeah. KTM was very rigid (pun?) regarding the hardware Coop et al. could use in 2023. funny story is that KTM group riders this year are allowed the freedom to choose the stuff Cooper was asking for. Hampshire was talking about it on PulpMX last week.
93 frame all through 96
He went to Suzuki in 97 because of Honda coming out with the aluminum frame in 97.
It was the '93 frame/chassis, and he rode that until Honda tried to force him onto the '97 aluminum frame, which he refused. That ended a very successful business relationship.
I feel like random testing while signed elsewhere is a Kenny type thing to do

Enzo lopes was signed then switched as well lol
The look on RV's face he knows 😂😂😂😂
Yep, totally agree.
Uh huh lol. Face says it all. Love it

My favorite, always makes it so exciting fr

@franklempka2159 outdoors is for the men. Such a disparity that he contends for the sx title eery year and gets his doors blown off in mx
Probably also doesnt care as much about outdoors@@chrisbuehler6868
Holy shit bud meat ride the guy alittle harder would ya he ain’t that good lmao

You know he will be there late season 2nd 3rd position in points fighting for the titles
Coops back .. he's comfortable. I see him winning the chip this year as long as he stays healthy and the team keeps gettin the bike better
What do you mean back? He held the red plate deep into the season last year..
I think it would sell a lot of motorcycles if everyone knew that a top level rider preferred the stock version. Even better if it helped his confidence and he was winning more.
I think most people realize that what these top riders like is not what your average joe is going to like
@@nathancrittenden8525have you met the general population? They are not that intelligent.
Coop ride good but that Star 450 puttin' work too!
Eli made it look good this weekend....
I love Eli and this might be is last season but with the years I've learned to not count i'm out this early!
Webb was close to winning last year. New bike and he's already in the hunt. Cool
I only see Webb going backwards as the season progresses. Jett, Tomac, Sexton are still yet to come fully online.

Just look how long it took for the pictures of Bubba secretly testing with Honda to come out!
Isn't there still just the single pic?
Baggett has to be here 🔥

had nothing for eli straight up, per usual, thats why he tried playing games n got put on the floor

Webb 2024
I think Coop just hated the KTM.
Who was it? Chase?
Chase said on the AC podcast he test rode several bikes so I would assume one of them would have been the Star Yamaha.
I guess I’m late, who was secretly testing with star?
Same here 😂
I believe it was Chase
Mosiman perhaps or Webb
Coop

So who's testing in secret at Yamaha, Malcolm? Kenny? Any thoughts?
I'm 100% certain (in my own head) it's was Jeffrey Herlings, I commented up here as well that at the time Tom Vialle (team-mate at the time) had just announced he's going to the US (Herlings has stated he wants to go but is not allowed), ALL social media posts having KTM/Red Bull where removed

Cooper's been doing good, but he has to win if hes going to have a shot, at a title.
I wanna know who that was
But the last time Webb was at Yamaha it was the old bike, now its a completely new bike.
It was the full factory team that wouldn’t change what the riders wanted. It’s a Star bike now, they are a lot more lenient with setup and parts
Cooper did same with KTM at first
Coop had an illness preseason that's why he gained so much weight.
did some bloodwork or something. gawd, he looked like a dog when he came back from the concussion. good to know there was a medical reason that could be treated. he really looks different now. keeps the series competitive.

Losing 25 punds quick is suspect
Coop has hashimotos which is a thyroid problem, my wife has it and if you don’t eat right and take meds you can pack on the pounds quickly.

It was Hunter Lawrence
gosh. this was dry
Coop may not have the fastest lap time, but fastest lap time doesn’t make the fastest racer, nor does it make you a race winner; just ask JS7
you're asking RV, who last was relevant in the industry a decade ago.
Prado !
